  1. Well, if you say so. A conservative, play-the-percentages, clueless, ignoramus like me would have preferred they attempt the FG at that point. There's a faction of posters here who criticize Mussman everytime he does the "smart" thing, or the conservative thing. Well he was certainly agressive at the end of the game today, so I figure anybody who's criticized the play-calling in these situations all season, should be giddy tonight..............
  2. Aren't you one that hates it when he kicks and plays conservative? He went for it. That's awesome, right? Nothing conservative about that last offensive play. Only a pansy would kick it in that situation.
  3. This just in: Greeley smells real bad..............
  4. But he "coached to win today" and "showed balls" by going for it on 4th and 1. Tons of people here should be very happy with that...........
  5. Seems like a good place for him.................
  6. Good post. Personally, I'm a bit disappointed with the way the season unfolded, but at the same time, there are alot of things that have impressed me. In a nut-shell, it has been up and down, but I've seen alot of positives to learn from and build upon going forward.
  7. Based on last year's defense and the huge upgrade made at the QB position, my expectation heading into the season was that the Sioux would at worst win 7 games and be on the bubble for a playoff spot. The eternal optimist in me actually felt an 8 win season was attainable. I also did not expect the team to suffer two of its most lopsided losses in program history this season. Like I said, if they finish 6-5 overall with our only losses to 4 playoff teams and an FBS team, I'd consider that a very respectable showing in the first year of Big Sky play. 5-6 would obviously not be disastrous, but I expect more than that from this program regardless of any circumstances surrounding injury, transition, recruiting, nicknames, etc. A loss to Northern Colorado would really sting and set things up for an off-season of major negativity on this board.
  8. I was just comparing stats between the two teams, in Big Sky play only: Scoring Offense #9 UNC #11 North Dakota Scoring Defense #9 UNC #12 North Dakota Total Offense #11 North Dakota #12 UNC Total Defense #11 UNC #12 North Dakota Rushing Offense #10 North Dakota #11 UNC Rushing Defense #11 UNC #12 North Dakota Pass Offense #3 UNC #5 North Dakota Pass Defense #9 UNC #10 Northern Colorado Unfortunately, this appears to be shaping up as a classic battle of ineptitude. Given the offensive fireworks that I've seen North Dakota light off throughout the season, I'm shocked that we are 11th in the conference in scoring offense and total offense. I expect this game to be close from start to finish. We (along with everybody who follows FCS football) like to rag on Northern Colorado's shortcomings. But in reality we're in the same place. 3 of their 4 conference losses are to 1st place Big Sky teams. All 4 of our conference losses are to 1st place Big Sky teams. This season has obviously been a disappointment. But as far as I'm concerned there is still alot to play for. A winning season and .500 record in our first season of the Big Sky is at stake, and while those numbers wouldn't meet my pre-season expectations, I could hardly call that a total failure either.
  9. ROOT is also going to air a bunch of Big Sky basketball games. Probalby will be similar to the football deal................. Game of the week type deal. My guess is it will focus mostly on Montana and Weber St. games..........
  10. This is a regular season game, not an exhibition. Coach Jones chose to go with "private scrimmages" this year rather than exhibitions. This game will count as far as stats, player eligilbiltiy, and won/loss record goes. Big Sky TV is different than Root. The two are not affiliated. Big Sky TV is online streaming only. You can go HERE to set up an account. It is free, although you still have to register. If you sign up, give yourself some time before tip-off to make sure you have the appropriate software and "plug-ins" downloaded. This can take time, but usually solves all the problems that many have had with the platform. Big Sky TV actually works extremely well and is pretty good quality, and every UND home game and away conference game will be available on it.
  11. It's on the MBB schedule page at UNDsports.com. They also mentioned it at halftime of the women's game yesterday.
  12. This is all true, and North Dakota's schedule has obviously been mutiple times more difficult than UNC's. However, we also just barely slipped past 3 mid-tier Big Sky teams in our own building in PSU, UM, and SUU. I'm hoping that the team that flew down to Sacramento is the one that boards the plane for Greeley.
  13. I just noticed that both the Fargo and Brookings games will be on Midco Sports Net. Hawaii will have a free webcast here.
  14. Wayne Nelson Blog from 9-19-09: The Central Arkansas buyout was $150,000.
  15. That is 10 times more than the buy-out his predecessor negotiated with Idaho St., which they excercised............
  16. Well, UM makes somewhere in the neighborhood of $500,000 per home game in gross revenue from ticket sales. IIRC, the buyout is $100,000 so I would not be at all surprised if they didn't show up in GF next season.
  17. I was at that game. That was awesome.
  18. North Dakota swept Portland St. at the Sioux Center tonight. Big win for the ladies......................
  19. Just wondering what everybody's thoughts are heading into this game. UNC has been pretty bad for quite some time, but they've won 2 of their last 3 games and put quite a scare into Northern Arizona. North Dakota had to win it on a last second FG last year down in Greeley against a winless team. UND is 1-3 on the road this season, and we struggled at home this season against pretty pedestrian Montana and Southern Utah teams. I think this game is far from a gimme. It'll be interesting to see how they fare against Weber this weekend. Anybody making the trip to Greeley? I'm leaving on Thursday and looking forward to it.............
  20. Well, we have another one to add to the stable................ Watching the volleyball game tonight, and during intermission they interviewed women's basketball coach Travis Brewster. Of course, Hammer was unable to pronounce the second syllable of Brewster's name. Hence, we now have Coach "Brew"....................
  21. As a fan, I'd like 12 games. And there are obvious merits to the extra game as far as playoff implications, building relationships with other FCS foes, and potential FBS money goes. But looking at next years schedule, I can't fault the staff for wanting to stick with 11. UND has the 2nd most difficult FCS schedule this season. When I see UM, MSU, EWU, SDSU, and Sac on next years schedule, it makes me think next year won't be much easier. If the BYE week didn't fall between the Griz and Cats, I may feel differently. But as it stands, the break between those games could be very beneficial toward the goal of making the playoffs. Even though the Griz game is non-conference, it could be a pivotal game as far as an at-large bid goes next season.............
  22. I've got 3 tix for sale for the Saturday, November 17 game against UM-Duluth. Located in lower bowl at the end the Sioux shoot at twice. Section 102, Row F. $120 for the set. I'm 100 miles west of GF so I can mail them, or you can pick them up. I should be able to e-mail them through ticketmaster for an extra $7.50. PM or text: 701-797-7021
