  1. Right, Tate Maris is I believe 21? He was credit wise, a sophomore at UND when he was named the team's 3rd goaltender last year.

You jogged my memory (also that was the only other explanation besides a typo. Academic freshmen cannot win the award.)

  2. You're doing a disservice to your players by not listing the All-Academic players. (Star means they've won the award before, although how could Maris have won already? He must be academically a junior?)

  3. I didnt recieve my friday night at the frozen four tickets in the package either, and I did order them when i ordered tickets. I emailed Veritix Customer Service (their email address was on the confirmation email I got when I ordered my tickets) and they said that my friday night at the frozen four tickets were being mailed separately and i should get them in a few days. I know some people got theirs with the tickets they ordered, but I didnt. If you have any questions on it I would email them, their customer service has been excellent, I received an email responses within a couple of hours of emailing them.

Well, that is strange, but ah well, at least no one who hasn't gotten them should be worried yet.

  4. Section 217,Row 4 for Boomer. Was hoping for lower bowl or club seats but am happy to get tickets.Must be some confusion in the NCAA offices on where people were seated.People do like to complain when the ticket prices are the same. When and if the Sioux make the Frozen Four where will those 1500 seats be?Are they in the lower deck?If they are that would mean more than half the lower seats go to the participating teams.Would make for better TV shots. Also are you suppose to get Friday tickets to the skills contest with your package?I didn't get any.I think you need to buy them seperate.Enough questions ,look forward to answers from our excellent and knowledeble forum.GO SIOUX

I don't know for certain, of course, but I can't imagine the school's allotment would be anywhere other than the lower bowl.

There is no skills competition anymore. There's something going on on Friday night, but you had to pay extra for it, and from what I understand, you would have received those tickets at the same time.

  5. I am still waiting for my tickets.Fargosioux and RWD where are your seats located.Or anybody else that got tickets.Any chance we could be in lower bowl?Inquiring minds would like to know.

We are in 209, not sure which row as they are alllllllllllll the way upstairs.

IceArenaMan, I wonder if your tickets were like unrenewed/turned in tix the 2nd time around.

  6. My tickets came in the mail today.

I got mine yesterday! The tickets are like double-wide.

I laughed because the sheet that lists the future regionals said "University of Minnesota, Twin Cities." Superb.

  7. How many would Duluth have not be a TUC? You play with the rules at the present time. Not the past or the future.

    Silly comment.

It's a factual comment. What exactly are you asking in your first sentence? It doesn't make sense.

  8. Interesting to note, I was just taking a look at the USCHO Pairwise and if I looked at the rankings correctly we are the only team to have played every game against a TUC team this year. Of course that will change this weekend against MTU, but still impressive to note.

I apologize if this has been mentioned somewhere else, I just found it and thought it was worth the discussion.

I hadn't seen it anywhere, it's an interesting statistic. However, you have 3 opponents who would not be a TUC under the "top 25" definition from previous years.

  9. I took it to mean that there won't be re-seeding after the Thursday games. In other words, the winner of the 4/5 game will play the #2 seed, and the winner of the 3/6 game will play the #1 seed, regardless of who wins that game. If this is the case, then they could look at where Minnesota is seeded after the first round and make sure they get the night games. For example, Minnesota gets the #5 seed, they could set up the 4/5 game for Thursday night and then set up the 1 vs. 4/5 winner for Friday night.

Again, I don't know for sure, but this is my suspicion of how it will go down.

You are right, the flexibility is there in case UMTC gets in.

Sioux-weet, I misunderstood what you meant by "first round," I wasn't sure if you meant Final Five "first round" or the 6 hosted play-offs that are the true "first round."

Let me try to say this concisely as we are all on the same page. Once the home playoffs are completed, the seeds and brackets and times will be set and will not change.

  10. I do believe reseeding will occur after the first round and if I recall someone stated last year or the year before that the "minnesota rule" doesn't exist anymore and the highest remaining seed after the first round will play on friday night.

    No.

  11. I wasted most of my PWR-earmarked free time this week on Minnesota and Wisconsin, but did run the numbers for UND.

It's not interesting, in that UND is pretty unlikely to move. But, it's pretty cool in that I've never seen it so not matter whether we sweep or tie (note that coming out #4 is just slightly more likely with a tie than a sweep).

If Yale got swept, there would be over a 75% chance of them dropping. A win over Cornell (regardless of Colgate outcome) seems to guarantee they stay #1, while a win over Colgate gives them something like a 95% chance of staying #1.

At first I didn't even SEE the tie possibility on the chart. That is crazy!

  12. Completely agree. Also to say we'd get over the hump every year because trading is available is crazy. Why don't certain sports teams win every year, like the Yankees? Not only is each game not guarenteed, but other teams have a shot as the players Yankees want.

If we were to trade for Zucker or a Connelly, we'd have to give up far more than what they're worth and we'd end up with crappy role players. I wouldn't change our team at all. Speed is a concern for me, but its not worth giving up talent and hard work to just get a fast skater. What more could you ask for? We're 1st in the hardest division in college hockey and ranked #1.

Now if you're a Gopher fan, this topic is completely appropriate and they may want to talk to the NCAA about it.

I don't see what's wrong with the topic. It's just hyopthetical. Is it disloyal to talk about trades for your favorite pro teams? No one is saying I WISH WE HAD TRADES BECAUSE I HATE ALL OUR PLAYERS!!! Well, Redwing is, but he doesn't count.

  13. Yes they are. But they were the first two guys in the WCHA that came to mind, regardless of their franchise tags. As one of my former professors used to say, "don't fight the hypothetical." :)

 I didn't know I was supposed to ignore the sentence right above it where you said to assume salary caps and franchise tags!

I would also ask: who on your team would you consider to be a tradeable player? Not because you hate them or think they are terrible, but because you think they would be worth something on the trade market. I would say Mike Seidel even though he's my favourite Bulldog, because he's stuck on the 3rd/4th line because of depth but has a great offensive upside and PP experience.

I'd trade for a defenceman, maybe that Jensen kid from St. Cloud.

  14. The good ol' Wisconsin (Chuck Schwartz) blog posted this and I think its something fun to consider. The opening paragraph reads:

"Obviously this is unrealistic since there is no possibility of something like this happening, but for the sake of argument, think about this hypothetically. If you were running the [North Dakota] program, and had the ability to make trades, what would you like to see done and more specifically, WHO would you want to see in the [kelly green] and white?"

Assuming there were were franchise tags and a salary cap, who would be some players you would gun for? (he lists Frattin as "un-touchable" because he is the franchise player)

The first few people that come to mind to trade for are guys like Jack Connolly and Jason Zucker. Just for S&G, what does everyone else think?

Er... aren't those guys franchise players too?
