  1. supposedly he interviewed really bad at the combine and has a bad work ethic. Sounds like a Gopher hockey player to me. I just kept thinking that had to be why he dropped so low at the draft. I was just sitting there at the draft, really surprised he was dropping so far and all those other Minnesota high school kids went earlier...

That's the gossip. I honestly felt for the kid, he was NOT smiling when he came out of the stands. A bad work ethic (if true) is of his own making, but it still had to be an absolute nightmare sitting in the stands and feeling people's eyes on him. It was like last year w/Fowler (when he was shown like 500 times on camera as he dropped further and further in the first round) but multiplied by about 100.

Simpson is smiling wider than some first-rounders. Good for him!!!

  2. tsr draft rankings

    hate reading this

Midterm Rank: 30 | League Rank: 2nd USHL | Country Rank: 2nd USAThe skill set to be reliable 2 way forward has always been there as prior to this year, Miller has been at worst a strong skating centerman who plays hard on both sides of the puck. He always possessed the puck skills necessary to contribute offensively but lacked that consistency leading to questions about his hockey sense. Miller seems to have answered those as the year progressed culminating in an excellent showing at the U18

  3. I didn't realize he was in the Wheeler situation until yesterday, it makes a lot more sense now with him having multiple options. I would bet this loophole will be addressed the next chance they get.

I know! I didn't realize it either. Didn't we just spend like weeks talking about how he wasn't in the same situation as Wheeler, and that was under the old CBA, and all that?

  4. This isn't the right thread for this.............but who cares. Does anyone know why Dubuque would draft Max Gardiner in the USHL today?? Is he leaving Minnesota?

    http://ushldraft.com/

    5th round.......73rd pick overall.

I wouldn't read too much into that. When he was of that age, Sidney Crosby was drafted in the USHL draft; there are always guys taken in the USHL draft that will never play in the USHL (either they go right to college or MJs or whatever). All that means is that *if* Max went to the USHL, he'd go to Dubuque; it's not a definite indication that he is going anywhere.

Go through some old USHL drafts sometime, they're pretty wacky at times!

  5. I can't remember which game I was watching but the announcers were saying there's research out there that says shooters perceive white or yellow goalie leg pads to be larger than black pads (when all are identically sized).

    Hear that Brad?

It's why chubby gals like me like to wear black a lot! It's slimming!

  6. Yes, it will. This year was AWESOME!!! Last year without the Goofs was exciting as well.

I read what he said the same way you did at first, but I think the poster is wondering if the Xcel as an entity would still want to host it.

I think yes. I'm not sure how it would work with the B6HC and their little tournament, as I assume that one would rotate between venues (Xcel, Joe, Kohl or Bradley Center, somewhere in OH, somewhere in PA), so the FF might have to move every five years or so (to Denver, to Grand Forks), but unless the Final Five was DU, CC, UAA, BSU and MTU (I am assuming they go back to the original format if they have 10 teams), then attendance would still be great. Really, as long as UND makes it it'll be fine! :D

  7. Unless they gave the higher seed the choice of venue...not forcing them to play in their normal home arena, but allowing them to choose where they'd like to play. Then, Yale can still go to Bridgeport and pack in way more fans.

Right, that's exactly where I was going. The team would be able to choose if they wanted to move their playoff games, and then it would be up to them to secure that venue. Which, actually, could be really difficult. Hmm.

  8. Here's the problem I see: schools with smaller arenas could end up hosting.

Let's say UMD is, like, the 9th seed. And Yale is the 8th seed. So we have to play Yale. A team whose arena has a capacity of 3500. They packed in 7800 fans at the stupid Bridgeport arena, and those were almost all Yale fans. Yale would lose by hosting at their stupid whale rink.

I think it would be a good idea for the hosting teams to have an option to host either at their own arena or at an arena of their choosing within X number of miles, so they could "host" elsewhere to attract/accomodate more fans.

  9. Does UND just have to cover everything using the logo or nickname? Or are they barred from hosting simply because of the nickname?

What would they do in that situation (in hockey or football or whatever)? Leave it to UND to find another venue? Go to the other school's campus? Can I write something that is not a question? No?

  10. Good to know they know a lot about Hexy.... We only made one Frozen Four while he was here.

Big time bummer. I wish Brett all the best and his style of play will certainly be missed. We need someone to be able to take the agitator role and someone to take it very quickly. His skill set wasn't the best on the team but his compete level was always at a top level. You'll be missed Hexy. Good luck

Lol you actually posted here!

Hextall might be back in UND's backyard fairly soon...

  11. I wish the name of the thread would be changed. Every time I open Siouxsports.com I about piss myself when I see "Hextall Signs" on the front of the page.

For April Fool's Day last year someone made a "Fontaine signs" thread and we all took turns having heart attacks. Then we kept bumping the thread periodically to mess with each other. Now it's finally true. So remember this thread in a few months and bump it to mess with everyone again!

  12. Kept the wording, changed the format. All should have been "bullets" under the "entry level" heading.

For rwd, "I know that you think you understood what you thought I wrote, but I'm not sure you realize that what you read was not what I meant."

Lol. I'm just a stickler for accuracy!

  13. He should've shaved it off and let it grow back. It would save him the trouble of watching it fall out now that it's been hard bleached and then dyed.

Naw, one bleaching isn't going to cause that much damage. Now, FIVE bleachings on the other hand... sigh.

  14. I see. I think Sprig meant "entry-level" as opposed to "first". The power of semantics. If you're an unristricted free agent ala Matt Read, I would think that they have almost unlimited freedom.

Faulk will get the rookie max and will likely be in the show. He's NHL ready. Best all around freshman defenseman I've seen in a long time in this league...and there have been some excellent ones. What I see in Faulk is that he has offensive skill and a mean streak. It is a great combo.

He dyed his hair back, that stinker.

  15. Read was 25, therefore he was not subject to entry-level rules. The rules stated are correct

"The CBA does not allow for 1 way contracts for first contracts anymore."

That part threw me off, as this is his first contract.
