  1. Man, UND fans are just the worst. I sat near this UND fan at the Final Five this year. He was loud, obnoxious, vulgar, and he and his drunken friend wouldn't sit down. He kept turning around to yell at me and was spitting on me. Then he kicked me, and spilled my pop all over me! Finally the arena staff banished him and his friend to the top of the section because they were afraid the two fans were going to fall over the edge. And because their dancing was atrocious.

    Oh wait.

That was just Diggler (aka Dirty). And I get the displeasure of sitting next to him this weekend again!

    :lol::lol::lol:

  2. still working out those details options are hotel outside of St.Paul or maybe friends place...or maybe where ever I end up...hard to say...thanks for the info...

We always park in small lots, the lot for Forepaugh's restaurant is a popular tailgating spot. Even if you are not going to park there, stop by! It is behind the Dairy Queen and dry cleaner's on 7th.

  3. Yelo, you shouldn't have any trouble with parking. You should probably expect to pay about $10 but you should have no trouble finding a spot that's close to the X and close to the local drinking establishments.

Are you staying at a hotel in St. Paul or out farther?

  4. I agree with the person on another board who compared it to the Kevin Porter/Nate Gerbe situation in 08.

Gerbe was the one with the character issues. Porter was the clean one.

Porter won the Hobey, Gerbe single-handedly won BC the national championship.

I'm okay with this analogy if we get similar results.

    Porter = Miele, Gerbe = Frattin :D

That must have been very painful to post. :D

  5. I think the Wild made a mistake by not going after Read, they could use all the prospects they can get.

The Wild did. But it's my understanding they wouldn't give him a one-way deal. Which is smart if they're planning to have a fire sale and then just see what happens.

  6. Thank you. It's good to have options. She may already know these places but because the rest of us are meat eaters she doesn't suggest going to a vegan resturant. It will be nice to be able to suggest going to one.

Common Roots is really good and NOT a vegan restaurant, just has options for everyone. French Meadow is right next door. It is really close to my work so if you guys want to go there Friday I'll meet you!

For drunk food, I like the Uptowner, which is not too far from the X. The Cajun Breakfast is subliiiiiiiiiiiime.

  7. UND gave me a Ph.D. and made me leave. They said I had to get a real job. It is hard to follow the team when you can't see any of the games. Over the last two years I've had the Fox College Sports channels, and I'm enjoying whatever games I can. I'm definitely hoping the Fighting Sioux name stays!

    FEDEROV!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    I missed you!

Now Forecheck needs to come back.

  8. I contacted the photographer for permission to use his picture and he replied, "Go for it." He's also going to make it a higher resolution for me. He hopes it makes the telecast!! So do I!!

Just noticed your user name! Are you perhaps the photographer?

There could not be a more hilarious and more appropriately composed photograph to use!!!:lol::lol:

  9. 25 with Dr Brooks will be more then enough too bad they can't take all 50 some of the best frozen fours i've been to were in the band,

I totally understand why they only get 25 spots, but I feel for the 25 that won't make it! When I was in college I missed out on a trip to Mardi Gras because the group I was in couldn't take everyone. :(

  10. I meant Saturday. Thursdays game will be just fine for me. I am trying to change flights to have a loooooooooong layover in Denver or LAX for Saturday a/k/a Championship game.

Ok, yay! Here's hoping it works out for you!

  11. I have a real tough problem. :D I will be en route to Maui during the Saturday game (will likely miss it). When to Sioux go the Championship I need to find a bar etc to watch us bring home number 8!! Poor me!!!!

Er... I hate to break it to you, but if you miss the Saturday game, you're missing the championship game. I do hope you meant Thursday!

  12. Do you remember the 2005 national championship game? Peter Mannino reached his glove back into the net to catch a puck that had already crossed the line and pulled it back out. They ruled it no goal because they couldn't see the puck (even though they could see the glove clearly across the line and knew for a fact that the puck was in the glove). I felt that the Sioux got robbed on that play.

That is the EXACT SAME PRECEDENT that should have been applied here.

Even if Faulkner had come out and been like "Yeah! It was totally in the net guys, and I just tried to fake you out!!!!" that's not conclusive evidence. Nothing I've seen demonstrates there was conclusive evidence to overturn the goal. This is a single elimination tournament. Michigan was awarded the game on that goal based on a decision made by the referees that is not in accordance with the rule book. There is no way to prove that ALL of the puck crossed the goal line. We never even see any of it cross the goal line. And it is completely obvious from the blowhard who was interviewed during the Jaden Schwartz and Joe Howe Smile Time Variety Hour that there's no excuse for what happened. He gave a lot of b.s. answers and completely skirted the analyst's attempts to get a true answer as to why the referees made the decision and what they actually saw on that replay.

I don't even give a crap about either of these teams, so it's not like I have some vested interest in this. But I don't want to see anyone's tournament dreams end on a blown call by the referees that was easily correctable. Especially since it was called "no goal" originally!

DaveK - Here is a picture of it that I added to my post that you responded to: Picture of Michigan Goal vs. UNO

I can't even tell if there is a puck in that picture, let alone where it is in relation to the goal line.

  13. Also saw the RIT jersey, what is up with that? Saw a UNH jersey in the concourse....I think I know what is up with that one...

Just wait til MafiaMan starts busting out his jerseys. Some of them are headscratchers.

Lots of people consider the Final Five as a "bucket list" item for college hockey fans, so perhaps that's what attracted the RIT and Cornell guys (who were together)?

Last year two of my friends wore Oglethorpe and Hanrahan jerseys. Awesome.

  14. This is one of the most troublesome double meaning words in the world of sports. I often misread "resigned" (to voluntarily leave a position) as "re-signed" (to ink a new contract). Does anyone else do this?

    Dave

A lot of people actually forget the hyphen and write resigned when they mean re-signed. (Technically re-signed is not a word.) So yes, I'm with you on the misreading.

  15. Do you really think that faulk will be one and done...I think he is an uber-talent and will be a pro player, its just that dmen usually take 2 years minimum to develop, even the excellent ones...

Forwards develop faster, and even Jonny Toews and ZPar stayed at UND for 2 a piece.

I think Faulk should call Taylor Chorney and talk about college vs the minors....

He's quit attending class. I think you are right and I would kill to have him for another year. But...

  16. Hammy is a drama queen and an a self serving attention seeker.

Melvin and I are on the same page here.

Dagies, I'm here for you. Defending college hockey sometimes means defending our enemies.

Regarding other teams: Justin Faulk is pretty much a goner. So is Jake Gardiner.

  17. Well, I heard on KFAN that the Panthers aren't pleased with his development because at times they didn't like that he wasn't used in his natural position, the center position and they put him on the wing for a while. But... I think he was back at center towards the end? Maybe a Gopher fan can verify this. THere was a prospect article apparently where they commented on this. I think that's why they aren't happy with his development at the U. But I think he'll stick around because he has the opportunity to play an increased role next year for the Gophers at center and I'm sure the Panthers would like to see how he does with more responsibilities. Again, I don't watch the Gophers enough to know how much playing time and responsiblities he had.

Let me preface this by saying 1. I know you didn't say that so I'm not running you down and 2. I know it's not confirmed. However, I'm pretty certain that if it's not happening in Bjugstad's case, it is happening/has had happened in other players' cases.

But holy crap. If his coach feels he is needed at wing instead of centre because they're thin there, or because he's struggling there, or for whatever reason it's better for the team he's on NOW rather than a team he may be on in the future, that coach has the responsibility to put that player in that position, GMs be damned. College hockey is not an NHL farm team and our coaches are not the puppets of the GMs. EVEN IF they look like hedgehogs.

    Gross. I defended the Gophers.
