  1. Do people tailgate at The Ralph for a big series like this?
  2. Please pray for YaneA and her Dad. Without going into details, he is very ill. Although we have never met,her kind words and gestures were a blessing when my Dad was ill. I know there are others who she has has helped in a positive way--either North Dakota fans or students. GOD Bless.
  3. The ECAC is moving their hockey tournament from Albany,NY to Atlantic City in 2011. Not sure how this will do since the ECHL had a pretty good team there and they only averaged around 2,000 per game at the Atlantic City Boardwalk Hall. There is a story about this on September 29 at www.ecachockey.com.
  4. Princeton, with Grand Forks player Eric Meland, has been picked to finish first in the ECAC coaches and media polls. The story is on www.princetonhockey.com.
  5. AZSioux and Coteau, Everything is cool.Don't worry about it. GO FIGHTING SIOUX! GO SCARLET KNIGHTS!
  6. I was wondering if the hotels in Grand Forks raise their rates during football and/or hockey weekends?
  7. Do any of you know if the Sioux have any future games in the Northeast--maybe Monmouth,Delaware,Lehigh,Lafayette?
  8. Nice comments about North Dakota from the Merrimack coach at www.merrimackathletics.com.
  9. I almost never fly,but I know there are shuttle busses to both downtown Newark and New York City from Newark Liberty International Airport.Trains go between downtown Newark(right by the Prudential Center--New Jersey Devils Arena) and Manhattan,NYC. A few transportation sites to check out--- www.airtrainnewark.com www.njtransit.com www.amtrak.com www.panynj.gov Wish I could tell you more, but I am not a big city/mass transit guy. I probably belong in North Dakota more than the Northeast!!!
  10. AZSioux, Are you ready for some Fighting Sioux hockey?!!!
  11. Siouxdonym, Perhaps Coach Hakstol can make an Eastern weekend each year, Play Princeton on Friday night, hop on a plane and play Georgia/Georgia Southern/Georgia Tech the next night
  12. Hey SiouxMeNow, Hope all is well with you and Mrs. SiouxMeNow.(No more time on the IR list) With all the new nationwide sports coverage for Fighting Sioux football, hockey, and basketball, what new recruiting regions do you think the teams will look at.
  13. Star, This is the first I heard about this.-- Corzine is an arrogant billionaire who doesn't care that people can't buy a house here or start a small or big business. We have a 7% sales tax and we have one of the highest property taxes in the nation (not to mention the highest car insurance).Families and companies are leaving left and right to Texas,Arizona,Pennsylvania,Delaware,Georgia,Virginia,Alabama,North Carolina, and South Carolina. For years, he dated the head of the state workers union (no conflict of interest there)! He is scared to death all his money will not buy him the election against an unknown who is not exactly seen as squeeky clean either. He is Obama-lite. Hopefully Corzine will be gone in January and Obama in January, 2013.
  14. NJD, I don't know if you have Patriot,Comcast, or Cablevision for TV, but in some parts of the state they offer a digital package (I don't have it myself),but you can see some college hockey on Fox College Sports,CSTV, and ESPNU. North Dakota recently signed an agreement where many of their hockey and football games will be shown nationwide. Also, the Sioux will be coming East January 22 and 23 to play Cornell in Ithaca,New York which isn't too far unless you live in deep southern New Jersey.
  15. Yes, another Fighting Sioux fan from New Jersey! Now there are three of us and Coach Hakstol HAS to start playing a game each year at Princeton!!! NJD, check out the University of North Dakota website www.fightingsioux.com where you can sign up to listen to all the games FREE. This site is great with friendly people and has links to The Grand Forks Herald newspaper which I believe is the major newspaper for Fighting Sioux sports. GO NORTH DAKOTA FIGHTING SIOUX !!! GO RUTGERS SCARLET KNIGHTS !!!
  16. This past week a new Rutgers sports message board was created. I decided to start a weekly thread about college hockey on it. As long as it is OK with the admins. there, I have it on the basketball portion and will start a new thread about once a week. I call it College Hockey Across The USA. Fighting Sioux fans,PLEASE feel free to add articles or comments to it. It includes college hockey for the guys and the ladies. Registration, viewing, and posting is free. The site is www.stateofrutgers.com.
  17. Hope all of you enjoy the 2009-10 Fighting Sioux hockey season!!!
  18. Jim, with my fifth season of being a Fighting Sioux fan and a member of siouxsports.com starting this Fall, I just wanted to thank you for all your time and work. Living in New Jersey, there is almost no coverage of college hockey, let alone the University of North Dakota. Thanks to a very nice woman who works at the university and you, I almost feel like I live down the road from the Ralph. Hope you,all Fighting Sioux fans,Coach Hakstol, and all the players and coaches have a Siouxper 2009-10 season. GO FIGHTING SIOUX!!! GO SCARLET KNIGHTS!!!
  19. How many fans are the Sioux expecting for this Saturday's home opener against South Dakota?
  20. I see that a player from Grand Forks,Eric Meland, is playing for Princeton University. Did any of you see him play? Did the Fighting Sioux recruit him? There is a bio about him at www.goprincetontigers.com.
  21. Goon, If I meet you in Grand Forks I will buy you all the O'Douls you can drink
  22. For those of you coming to the New Jersey/New York City area for the Sioux basketball game against the New Jersey Institute of Technology this Winter, here is some info. and websites that should be helpful. Newark Liberty Airport is about ten miles from the NJIT campus which is about one mile from downtown Newark. You should give yourself AT LEAST one hour due to traffic. If you are looking for reasonable hotel prices, the town of Parsippany is only about 30 minutes from the campus and has a wide variety. Newark has a very nice museum, two concert halls--Newark Symphony Hall and NJPAC, and the Prudential Center which is where the New Jersey Devils(including Zajac and Parise) play. PLEASE be careful about where you walk around the city--it is not Grand Forks, but it is not as bad as it was in the 60's. Maybe Minneapolis and Saint Paul have some rough areas too. Just be smart and alert and you should be fine. The follwowing are some websites with more information-- www.njit.edu www.njithighlanders.com www.vistnj.org www.newjerseybeautiful.com www.aboutnewjersey.com
  23. Thanks for the airline info. It is probably a lot less to park in Philadelphia than Newark. If I can fly into Grand Forks without spending too much more,I would prefer it. I would like to have some time to drive around the town and see Devils Lake. I guess Mount Rushmore would be too far to drive.
  24. Goon, You won't believe how many people think all of New Jersey looks like the area around Newark Airport. For those who have not seen the area,it is,well,ummm--let's just say it's not to be confused with The Garden of Eden!
