  1. When I was watching the game, I couldn't hepl but notice the unusual arena Vermont plays in. Along the sides of the rink, there aren't very many rows of seats but there look to be twice as many rows behind the goals. One of the Big 12 schools, Nebraska?, has a stadium that looks like that.

  2. Hello Shawn-O,

There are two Rutgers fan sites---stateofrutgers.com and scarletnation.com. They are both free unless you want to see the "premium" information which basically means you find out about potential prospects a couple days before everyone else. I would say that the stateofrutgers.com site has less people on it,but seems to be more civil and not as speculative about recruiting. On scarletnation.com, the posters usually have us recruiting hundreds of potential players. The posters on there think every high school student in cleats is being recruited by Coach Schiano! I used to spend a LOT of time on the Rutgers sites, but not as much anymore. To be honest with you, there are too many people (not all) who just enjoy harshly verbally attacking others and their questions/ideas. I don't believe that the posters represent most Rutgers fans. For some reason, these sites are not known by the average fans. Often, I'll ask people about them and they don't even know they exist.

  3. What a day today--I never thought I would see the day when one of the top players, OL Anthony Davis 6 foot five inch and 330 pounds, would announce on NBC that he had chosen Rutgers over Southern Cal and Ohio State. I don't think we have ever had a more sought after player come to RU.

    GO NORTH DAKOTA!

  4. Another major league sports franchise move that does not look like it will end up in Norfolk-Virginia Beach. I have been told(and I don't know if it is true or not) that the Tidewater area is the largest in the nation without a major league pro sports team.

  5. Just got back from Dartmouth and had a great time watching my first Fighting Sioux game--guys thanks for the win. Met some very nice North Dakota fans. A couple grads drove from the Boston, Mass. area and another older man drove several hours from Troy,NY. He said he roots for RPI and the Sioux. Loved the green Sioux jersey he had on which was the number 4 with "FROZEN" on the back instead of a player's name. Seated in front of me were a very nice couple who made the trip from Grand Forks--that is dedication! Hopefully, the Sioux will be back in the Northeast again next year or maybe for the NCAA's. The arena was small, but a great place to watch a game. I didn't hear one negative comment from fans of the other three schools and I watched almost the entire first game also. Supposedly, there was one woman "protesting" this weekend. Anyway, I went in the main entrance to the arena and never saw or heard her. There were a few guys who came over and spoke to the couple in front of me asking if people really threw gophers onto the ice when North Dakota plays Minnesota-Twin Cities! They seemed to have a perplexed look on their faces. Anyway, it was fun game to watch and hopefully the Sioux have turned things around. Thanks again North Dakota players, coaches, and fans!

  6. Hi Siouxmama,

I won't be at tonights game, but I am getting up VERY early for the drive tomorrow. I hope to see a little of the campus before the consolation game that North Dakota WON'T be in and then after the Sioux WIN the championship game get an hour or two on the road before I find a motel on the way back. Looking forward to seeing my first game. It would be great if North Dakota would play at Princeton, which is almost in my back yard, or Army which would only be a couple hour drive.

    GO FIGHTING SIOUX!

    GO SCARLET KNIGHTS!--THANKS COACH SCHIANO!

  7. Finally, after 137 years, the streak is over. I didn't think it would be so easy. Kansas State must have played their hearts out to beat Texas earlier in the season. There are so many Rutgers players, coaches, staff and fans who have been waiting so long for last night. Our recruiting before last night was at level we could not have imagined just three years ago. With the bowl win, it can only get better. The school has started selling season tickets for next season and in the month of December we have doubled the number of season ticket holders.Near the end of the game, I started thinking about my Dad who took me to my first Rutgers game thirty years ago on Thanksgiving against Colgate at The Meadowlands. He always preferred college and high school games to the pros--he would always say the atmosphere was much more fun. I miss him a lot. Thanks Sioux fans for following my team and GOD Bless all of you in 2007.

    GO NORTH DAKOTA!

  8. Assuming our 137 year long rebuilding project finally ends with a win against Kansas State in the Texas Bowl this Thursday on the NFL Network, I will open the Widmans Chippers during the fourth quarter. Very unlikely there will be any left for the trip up to New Hampshire. My old Sioux logo #18 Tim Skarperud jersey and new North Dakota jacket are ready for the seven hour trip up to Dartmouth. Hope it will be a lot of fun in section 20 and the "controversial situation" is ignored and fans of all teams in the tournament have a great time. By the way, SiouxMeNow, when you listen inside the salt water taffy bag you can hear the ocean

    GO RUTGERS--BEAT KANSAS STATE!

GO NORTH DAKOTA--WIN THE DARTMOUTH TOURNAMENT!

  9. I know almost of you know more about hockey than I do,but I hope the school doesn't fire Coach Hakstol. We spent 25 years in football and basketball firing coaches left and right. Coach Schiano has said numerous times that no one could have succeeded here until a lot of athletic, academic, and administration changes were made. Recruiting was a disaster in part because of a merry-go-round of coaches. I know Sioux fans are used to every season being a great one, but I hope North Dakota doesn't fire coaches because they don't finish in the top 5 every season. It reminds me a lot of football schools like Nebraska and Alabama who get rid of coaches because they lose a few games. I still think it must very hard to coach teams where guys are constantly leaving for the NHL after a couple years. Hang in there coaches, players, and fans.

    GO FIGHTING SIOUX!

    GO SCARLET KNIGHTS-BEAT KANSAS STATE!

  10. Grew up in northwestern New Jersey near the Appalachian Trail, ski areas, and Delaware Water Gap. I spent about four years down South in South Carolina(the fans there live and die Clemson and South Carolina football) and Virginia. Moved back to be near family and currently live at the New Jersey Shore a few miles from the Atlantic. I was in the North Dakota vicinity once--Dayton,Ohio :)
