Good job of putting words in people's mouths again. No one is demanding that anyone be honored by the name. While it is the intent, you don't have to feel honored by the nickname. You can be offended.

As an avid lover of The Smurfs in my youth, I demand UND does the following 1. Build me a house that resembles a giant mushroom. 2. Implement laws to make certain the Smurf Village will be and always remain Smurfy. 5. Buy me a pair of red pants that also cover my feet. Suggestion: Perhaps the bottoms to a Hazmat suit. 6. OK, so if these meeting ever occur you can present your ideas or have someone who is representing your tribe can present it. Perhaps it will happen, perhaps it won't and instead there will be some other agreement. Then whatever is agreed upon is what goes, thus ending this issue once and for all. Finally we can try solving more important things in this world. No need to yell though, that won't go over well at the meetings.

So what about some sort of compromise? Some sort of discussion between UND and all the Sioux tribes or at least both the ones in North Dakota? Include the Sioux tribes in on the use of the name, keep the name but drop the Fighting part, drop the name in an official capacity but still use use it for merchendise and a large portion of the money goes to teh tribes, etc. Something like that so both sides are happy. You can rarely get exactly what you want. Life is about compromise.

When did I say anything about Native Americans getting the most waivers or even imply it? I didn't. You just assumed that is what I meant. I just said I wish I would have gotten a waiver. Who doesn't wish they could have gone to school without paying or at least having a portion of it paid for?

Nice job of not answering the questions and instead calling names. You don't discuss, you dismiss anyone who disagrees with you. Whether they be Lakota, Dakota, Nakota, Irish, German, Hispanic, etc. if they disagree with you they are ignorant, racist, don't practice Indian Ways or some other reason which you use to dismiss them. There are Native Americans all over the country that are for nicknames, just like there are Native Americans all over the country that are against nicknames. If all people have the right not to be offended, not many things would be allowed. The First Amendment would certainly have to be repealed because offensive things are said all the time. If the First Amendment is repealed, it would certainly hurt your ability to protest the nickname. No one has the right not to be offended. Even if people did, it is a impossible standard to achieve.

A Boilermaker is a shot of alcohol with a beer chaser, nothing to do with trains. Still with the NCAA being against alcohol, you wouldn't think they'd allow a nickname like this.
