Sioux have the ball on the 2. Sack/fumble recovery/three great offensive plays and the Sioux are in business...now in fact 18-15! Glas better make this...
-
On 3rd and 5 Caleb Johnson with a huge first down catch - great senior play to stretch out and get the first. Mussman is keeping it very simple for Belmore. Looks like he's working with about a quarter of the offense.
-
I have a feeling he hurt his arm again. Sioux ball on their own 45. This is an important drive. The offense has been so poor that it will be demoralizing to give up such good field position again.
-
Whoever wins will be playing Pitt St. - they defeated NW Mis. St. 50-36.
-
So much for the long drive - Roland tackled for a safety. GVSU 9-3
-
You are right, the offense is looking poor. Bowenkamp must have hurt is arm again, otherwise he'd still be playing. Let's pray the offense has one big play in 'em.
-
Sounds like Manke is doing much better - 2nd and goal from the 3.

This was posted on the first page of this discussion: The UMD audio is working, but it's a real pain. You have to go in through IE only, then it installs an ActiveX control, then you have to install special software, run it, then you sit through a commercial, then you have to "list all stations" and find WEBC News/Talk in Duluth.
-
Are you watching the game? I'm curious if the O-line is playing this poorly or if Manke is hanging around in the pocket too long.
-
Listening to the Duluth commentators is painful.

Another score: Michigan Tech 33 Northwood 7 The "mighty" are falling...

D2football.com confirms it - Saginaw beats GVSU!

My mistake. However I don't think it changes my analysis. Klancher and Klosterman both started as sophomores and had their share of growing pains. That was there first year as starters - same as Belmore (Klancher did have some big game experience as a freshman.) We will see what happens. I know the Sioux cannot afford another lose and so does the coaching staff. If Belmore doesn't perform you will get your wish. I'm just curious to see if Belmore can mature from week to week. He has a chance to build upon a good performance.
-
I trust the coaching staff to start the best QB...period. Manke's stats may look good, but he has not played when the game is on the line. Let's remember Belmore is a freshman. To think he is going to be great this year is unrealistic. The same would go for Manke if he were playing. His media comment was also a freshman mistake and he has teammates on offense that would protect him from unruley, arrogant defensive players upset with him. Like I mentioned earlier, the defense cannot afford to meltdown as they did in the second quarter against St. Cloud. The offense is not and most likely will not be good enough to make big time fourth quarter comebacks. The coaches have chosen Belmore as the starting QB. If he plays poorly again as he did against St. Cloud, Lennon will play Manke. However if Belmore continues to show promise, he will be the starter. He has five games of experience, which goes along way in the NCC.

Ok enough. We all think the Sioux are going to win by a lot (ah hem...Sioux FB players - don't get cocky.) What I am interested in seeing is if Belmore can build upon last weeks performance and develop into a reliable starting QB. If the Sioux are to advance deep into the playoffs, Belmore must become confident in his abilities to lead this team. From all accounts, he is a talented QB and has a bright future. Unfortunately Bowenkamp's injury pressed him into a role that is extremely challenging (albeit enviable.) Thankfully Mussman is in control of the offense (along with the best head coach in D2) and will do whatever he can to put Belmore in the best position to suceed. The defense is the best in the country and must prove it every play to keep the pressure off of the offense. However Belmore is going to have to make big plays if this team is to return to Florence, but more importantly he must not make mistakes in key situations. If Bowenkamp is not to return (I'm praying for healing power) the defense must improve every game and hold opposing teams to under 20 points. Belmore can't make big mistakes and must develop into a confident leader of this team.

It's always fun to hear a team that has never played UND talk smack. You don't hear much of this garbage from teams that have played and know UND football. And - Kupe 33 - I don't know much about Alaska football, except that your boy can play ball. I hope to be joining you again in Florence this year...
-
No way the Sioux are an underdog. This is typical Sioux. They played average on the road against a team they should have killed. But they won. They will need to play better next week, but I think Bowenkamp will be back and that will help a lot.
-
That is if Tony Stein is correct...
-
This is ridiculous. Someone needs to take out at least one ref. Put a backup in and have him run over one of the refs...I'm serious.
-
Wow, could Tony Stein be anymore politically incorrect? Talking like Juan G.T.? And "my sister could punt better than that?" I love it...

Mac is back in Fargo and probably at the game today. I'm his ex-DC roomate.

It will be interesting to see how Manke plays. Sources told me he was very close to being the 2nd string QB rather than Belmore.
