  1. There was another Sioux connection to the National Tourn in PEI. Former Sioux player Devon Fingland recieved top honors for being the top defensive player for the tournament! Good to see that she is still lighting it up. Even though she isn't wearing our colors anymore, she was always one of my favorite players and still is!
  2. It was a VERY BIG DEAL, being underestimated...? I don't think so, they had played well the first game that weekend, but goaltending got the best of them. Then the next game Maggie was very solid between the pipes and they took it to them. They played a tight checking game and put some doubt into UMD's game play. It was a big deal...and they had a very talented team! Not sure what you mean how it hurt them though.
  3. I couldn't have said this better myself!! Thank you...she was very vocal about the fact that she got rid of her high school coach and was going to take Rivard down too!
  4. But I don't see any excuse for how pathetic the program is this year. And how else can you describe it, really?
  5. ...or which player are you?
  6. I hope no one really thought that.
  7. Siouxfan44 makes some very good points, but I don't agree with a few comments. Regarding the girls that were cut being able to rival the current team, well that's a slap in the face to the girls who are currently playing. You have to remember that most of the first and second year teams were walk-ons, and I can see the hard feelings that would happen because of money and lets face it - skill. Yes, more have been cut but would most of those girls ever gotten a chance to play D1 hockey anywhere else other than a team that had just started up and had limited scholarships. I know of two girls that NEVER should have been cut that are both D1 material, but can honestly think of no others. Also, playing D1 hockey you would expect a certain standard of physical fitness to be attained by the student/athletes. They all knew that they had to run the 5K at the start of Sept. How many actually came in shape and how many didn't. They were told they had to keep attempting the 5K, (once a week I think) until they could. Should they not have been able to right from the start - if they were committed athletes? I whole-heartedly agree with everything else on the post. I have to wonder, would the university take action in any other sport after such a poor showing? I can't see it. Another thing that makes me think that they just don't care what happens with the team is they haven't kept any stats on the fightingsioux.com website. Yes I know you can some stats on the collegehockeystats.com site, but they haven't got the category leaders, plus/minuses... Oh no, now I've started!! And let's cut our starting goalie just before Senior's Night, and just before we have our first round of playoffs. And just to cut the other leg off their players, instead of flying to Wisconsin for that series...let's drive, because the coach can't fly in her last trimester of her pregnancy!! You think the girls will be tired from the drive...oh well that's okay, we don't expect to win anyway! End of rant!
  8. I just realized this weekend is "Senior Weekend". Let's all get out there and say farwell to a few players we are really going to miss!
  9. Does anyone know of any reason/reasons that they haven't posted any stats on the fighting sioux web sites for the women's hockey? They used to be very current but this year...nothing!
  10. Thank you for saying what I've been thinking all along...firstly that Bowers and Johnson put a spark up front and Fingland has a great capacity for seeing the ice from the blue line and setting things up better that running around up front. Also leaving Jessica is the only vet defenceman we have right now and that doesn't help much either. Wouldn't it be nice if the coaches listened to us, and I bet we'd have a win this weekend!!
  11. Hockey Mom, you are always so positive...I wish I could sitting next to you during games. Myself and everyone around me couldn't see too many positive things happening during this last weekends games! I wonder what it's going to take to get a win.
  12. We're not talking about who they are dating or anything! Just what's happening and why they were missing. Everyone wishes nothing but the best for these girls. And since you "started the thread" I guess we should follow your rules!!! lol
  13. I heard Dianoski and Connelly were red shirting this year for academic reasons
  14. Did anything interesting happen at the "Meet the Sioux"? What were the line pairings?
  15. I'm out of town right now, and was wondering what kinda turnout did they get for tryouts? And when do they expect to announce the final roster? Go Sioux!
  16. Give me a break Cratter!! You gotta be kidding, what a moral victory for this NEW team taking it to the three (I think) time national champs!! And how about that winning coach Shannon Miller and her staff walking away without shaking the hands of the Sioux players! Classy, eh?
  17. I agree...If everyone shows up and plays their game the way they can...anything is possible. Go Sioux!
  18. Oh, no doubt, once the scholarships are equal to everyone else's, God, who wouldn't want to be here. Everyone...I don't care who they are, are in total awe of this building once they step into the Ralph. Then if they get to take a peek before a game and see the facilities that are for the two hockey teams they are taken back again. Oh well it's just a shame for the girls who are building the program to be left out of "what will be".
  19. I always thought it was a NCAA rule limiting the scholarships to the women's hockey team, but it what you say it true, well then - what gives? Why doesn't the university help the team out a little. It would only take a couple of scholarship players to help out on the ice and with team morale!
  20. How about the games this weekend against UMD?!? Wow...fast action both ways - even outshooting the Dogs! They proved that they can play with the nations leaders! Still room for lots of improvement - Penalty Kill. But with a much smaller bench they did fine. Great games! Amber stood on her head, and the defence really held their own.
  21. Any chance of anyone having any wallpapers of the Sioux Women's Hockey Team?
  22. I didn't expect them to put up much of a game against the Gophers, but I was at least hoping that we'd get at least one goal. Better luck next game, ladies. <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
  23. Don't be too hard on the girls...they learned a lot from the series! They did very well when the 3 Olympians weren't out there, so we know Coach Rivard is starting to put something together. Too bad they had to start out in the WCHA against the national champions...I hope the fans still come out and don't give up on the team.
