  1. The Coast is correct. The A as well. The O, the Dub, and the Q for the CHL leagues are what we also use. Back to the original point, the 2025-26 lineup looks more well rounded and should be a tournament team no doubt with decent coaching & adjustments.
  2. No one calls it "the N", everyone should just call it "the league" lol
  3. Is the source dialed into the Dub scene or overheard stuff from the UND staff?
  4. Wonder what the recruiting would have looked like if the previous staff had stuck around. Having Chyzyk on this staff seems to be a massive boon for recruiting & the program as a whole
  5. Difference was McKamey was NCAA route from the start whereas Verhoeff was major junior from the start who only became NCAA eligible once the rule changes were passed in November. Sure, Verhoeff could have increased his course load during spring term or even this summer if he wanted to accelerate, I just don't see it as that likely.
  6. Possible would assume unlikely
  7. Nice to have Patrick in Victoria, probably has told all the Royals some of his UND stories since that would be relevant following the rule changes to open up the CHL to the NCAA.
  8. He'd have to accelerate his education to graduate in 2025 instead of 2026, seems unlikely
  9. Verhoeff is one of the top end guys who you wouldn't be surprised to get drafted and then sign his ELC to forego the NCAA, but if he's interested in playing NCAA, you'd certainly want to be at the top of his list. Top 5 guy for 2026.
  10. Cole Reschny committing to North Dakota would indicate Chyzyk's commitment to recruiting harder & better than before, as well as leveraging UND connections/relationships to get great players. With James Patrick being Reschny's head coach for the Victoria Royals, there seems to be another indicator here. Love to see it.
  11. I am puzzled as to why he was ever recruited in the first place, was never of NCHC quality to start with IMHO.
  12. Carbonneau to Boston College would leave them less ice time available for a guy like Cole Reschny. Would be nice if dominoes start falling in North Dakota's direction
  13. Nebraska Omaha picks up a nice 2008 in Ty Meunier of the Prince Albert Raiders in the Dub.
  14. Looks like Mason West (2007) choosing hockey over football.
  15. There are quality ex CHLers littered throughout USports. Cole Huckins (2021 Calgary 3rd rounder) just completed his freshman year at University of New Brunswick, 3 years left of university eligiblity. Josh Pillar (2021 Minnesota 5th rounder), just completed his sophomore year at University of Saskatchewan, 2 years left of university eligibility.
  16. USports guys with years left of university eligbility
  17. Should be able to get a handful of solid to higher tier Minnesotans regardless and need to hit on more high end Western Canadians and the Dub as a whole. Would like to see the coaching staff target more Illinois (Chicago) & California (Southern & some Northern) kids since those states are consistently producing high quality players now. Texas and Arizona are producing more players too, areas to keep an eye on. I wouldn't close the door on Michigan, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, & Ontario, but we know where those guys go for the most part so Chyzyk and Jackson have to be targeted/realistic. We know that the vast majority of New York, New England, Quebec, and Maritimes guys will likely stay in Hockey East/ECAC territory, but still have to monitor and make pushes for guys who aren't automatic Boston College/Boston University locks. As you said, need to leverage the UND Alumni connections to help build stronger relationships throughout the hockey world again, especially in Canada. Would be nice if Brad Malone (Oshawa) & James Patrick (Victoria) would steer some 2008s, 2009s, and beyond in the direction of UND.
  18. Schloss said McKenna to B1G probably, which means Michigan or Penn State (if he wants to accept the massive NIL deal that is apparently on the table).
  19. There are some solid players in USports that are of NCAA quality. Anyone who goes into the USports pool and finds adequate to above average contributors will deserve credit.
  20. Andrew O'Neill going to the Dub to play another year of junior before coming to North Dakota. Very good plan to develop his offensive game further.
  21. Love to hear that, good sign.
  22. They're also waiting to see some of these guys' decisions on going NCAA or not, and what their NHL teams will say after drafting them this summer. McQueen, Reschny, Kindel, Lakovic, Smith, Bear, Cootes, Schmidt, Fiddler, Ravensbergen, Behm are all Dub guys who are talented enough to go to the NCAA in their D+1: they could be steered towards committing by teams such as Philadelphia, Detroit, Calgary, Montreal, St Louis, Columbus, Pittsburgh, etc if those teams are convinced the NCAA route is better for their development for the next 1-2 years before signing and turning pro.
  23. Rare instances of them going after non Minnesotans and it worked out for them almost as well as possible. I do wonder if Snuggerud & Chesley were in his ear when Cooley was decommitting from Notre Dame, in order to get him to go to Minnesota with them. Peer recruiting isn't as common in hockey as it is in football obviously, but it does happen from time to time. Motzko does recruit out of state more than Lucia and Woog, but that isn't super surprising since he did that when at St Cloud State. Regardless, Motzko and Minnesota really don't recruit Canadians except for a few older Junior A goalies.
  24. Another point: This becomes a chicken & the egg situation: since Minnesota has almost always been a 90%+ Minnesotan roster, the Goofers really only appeal to Minnesotans. The Minnesota program doesn't really recruit non Minnesotans because they never have, nor are they convinced that non Minnesotans would be that interested in them. Non Minnesotans (especially Canadians) don't/rarely consider Minnesota because the program doesn't seem interested in them because they aren't from Minnesota. Yes, there are a few exceptions, but those aren't common. The only reason why Matthew Wood (Nanaimo, BC) ended up at Minnesota in the portal was because his dad was a Goofers women's assistant in the late 2000s/early 2010s, Matt had to contact Motzko to tell him he wanted to be there.
