  1. The thing that is hard in regards to UND recruiting is getting a good portion of players from large metropolises such as Toronto, Montreal, Boston, Chicago, Detroit, Los Angeles, New York to want to go to Grand Forks North Dakota, as the vast majority of them aren't used to (relatively) smaller town living. Going to Ann Arbor, Minneapolis, Denver, Boston, Madison fits their idea of being in a university town and/or a bigger city/metro area, which they're used to. I believe Berry talked about this difficulty in one of the videos on YouTube where he takes visitors around The Ralph on a tour. Makes sense that the majority of UND's recruiting and thus player base has come from Western Canada and Minnesota over the years
  2. Wonder if Dane (& others on current staff) are in contact with James Patrick. Would be nice to start a Dub pipeline through him. Cole Reschny is a 2025 Draft 1st Round talent playing for Patrick's Victoria Royals, would be a great high end addition.
  3. Which makes it even more important that whoever they hire be a top tier recruiter of CHLers, especially in Dub territory (Western Canada). Can't just have a ton of culture depth guys that Andrew O'Neill projects to be, need more top tier talent, and the CHL being opened up, it's a huge opportunity to boost future rosters. Can't keep losing recruiting battles for the next Kent Johnson. McKamey was a nice start in Western Canada, hope he stays committed.
  4. At this point, I just want Jackson, Raboin, or whoever the hell North Dakota hires to be able to adapt to modern hockey & hockey players, recruit high end players from all over the world, and balance that with finding culture guys who will play hard every night for 3-4 years. Get back to the UND way of being tough to play against, and not struggling against freakin Miami and the like.
  5. Recruiting non Minnesotans is pretty rare at Minnesota, Raboin sealing the deal on one super elite guy and another who became a super elite guy is very impressive.
  6. Hiring Dane Jackson could be just fine, or it could be the 18 wheeler going off the cliff very quickly. Would prefer Raboin or an experienced Canadian junior coach
  7. Not as annoying as Buccigross thankfully
  8. Boston College Michigan State Final, Boston College wins, Fowler outduels Augustine, Leonard comes up clutch. 4-2 Eagles with an empty netter.
  9. Weekes is a good studio analyst but not very good on color, tries too hard to be entertaining. Would also imagine his NCAA knowledge is nowhere close to what is needed, but you'd think he'll be prepped well enough to not sound too dumb.
  10. You think Lindberg is coming in straight from the NTDP? Wonder if they want him to play another year of junior like they had Laurila do, really benefitted Laurila.
  11. J Swish is clearly biased in favor of what he knows, nothing inherently wrong with that, I don't expect a former player turned entertainer/content creator to have the closest pulse on what the program actually needs.
  12. Just make sure the Goofers don't win
  13. James Patrick is the interesting name Schloss listed. UND alum, NHL guy, Dub coaching experience, current Victoria Royals head coach. Patrick could get a ton of high end guys from all of Western Canada, problem is he’s 61 and likely doesn’t want to leave junior. Also doesn’t match the job requirements as he doesn’t have NCAA coaching experience.
  14. The way Hedquist was/wasn't used in the 2nd makes me think he's gone as others on here have alluded to. But who knows, he is in line to get the starting job (unless they grab another portal goalie).
  15. Not a doctor, but that would make it seem like a return after the Holiday Break would be the target for Bear.
  16. We thinking Emery stays or goes somewhere else?
  17. A lot of the top CHLers will definitely have UND near the top of their list simply because of the program's history/reputation for developing NHLers (especially Canadians). But the development part got worse under Berry, and if @yzerman19 is right about the top 2010s not considering UND, that's concerning and you gotta get the new head coach right in order to get the program back to the top quickly.
  18. You think Detroit gives him an ELC this year, they tell him to go back to UND, or even tell him to go to the portal to find somewhere better? Yzerman/Draper might not think he's ready for the A yet, Grand Rapids already pretty deep up front.
  19. Wish hockey recruiting was more public and covered like it is in football. Would be nice to know who is going after CHLers like Gavin McKenna, Cameron Schmidt, Roger McQueen, Ryan Roobroeck, Jackson Smith etc. As for Perron, feel like he's gone. Just hasn't taken off at UND like everyone thought he would.
  20. Aren't his parents both UND alums? Feel like he's much more loyal to UND than he ever was to BU
  21. Vigneault took the Flyers to the playoffs in 2020 after Hakstol got them there in 2018.
  22. Wouldn't necessarily think a ton. North Dakota is better positioned than almost every other program (Michigan, Denver, Boston University, Boston College are positioned very well) to recruit CHLers, especially Dub guys. North Dakota's staff has always been full of Western Canadians and the player alumni base is almost half Western Canadian. Regardless of who they hire, they have to go after high end CHLers, just easier doing that if you hire a Canadian.
  23. Gophers have a lot of talent but haven't had the clutch gene much of this year. In a hypothetical Western Michigan Minnesota matchup, Slukynsky outduels Souliere & Bump should produce well. Been pretty underwhelmed by Oliver Moore and it's not like Matthew Wood has really popped off for the Gophers, probably just met the baseline production expectations. Huglen being out really hurts Minnesota as well.
  24. Zakreski two goals tonight for Portland, up to 39 on the season in 66 games.
