Kupchella Letter to NCAA - January 30th, 2006
HockeyMom replied to star2city's topic in UND Nickname
I still have the same gut feeling that I did when we were banned by the NCAA. They will back down. -
"The Sweden men's team couldn't make it for their game against the USA because they had a practice session, but they were there after the shootout." Yeah how many times did we hear that New Hampshire only had one player on the roster? This was my personal favorite: "If you look down in the corner you can see the fans are doing the wave!" I mean seriously......who gives a flying &%$#& ?

Listening to the announcers, I'm starting to understand why people don't watch women's hockey. A.J is at least trying to talk about hockey. *barfs*
-
Come on, Sweden........an upset of Canada would be huge for the women's game.
-
He didn't but the wife did.
-
No they threw some punches.......I didn't notice if the ice turned yellow under her. I hope Sweden can upset the Canadians.
-
And the US holds on for a 4-0 win and the Bronze Medal. I'm glad that they ended their Olympics on a high note. The refs should have let Katie King go near the end of the game.
-
The US women are up 3-0 at the end of the first period in the bronze medal game. Nice to see them come out and skate hard after they were upset in the semis.
-
Cummings looked like he was going to cry. I'm sure if Alexia would have gotten into the penalty box yesterday after she took that one at center ice they would have looked equally impressive.
-
I think you can afford the tickets! PCM, you're young, I expected you to be like 80 from the way people talk on here. We're watching the DVD right now. It's great, thanks a bunch!

Good game today. The officiating left a lot to be desired. UND had a lot of good looks at the goal, Ohio State's goalie just came up big when she needed to. The crowd- was a good one, not real big but real noisy. I wish those people would have come out earlier in the season. Thanks to the seniors and beat the Gophers next weekend!!!!!! Go Sioux!

I don't like the tight fit. The players are robots wearing different colors. They look like they are actually restricting movement, rather than helping them skate faster. Besides, if they skate faster with the new unies, and everyone is wearing them, doesn't that cancel everything out? I still don't like that the US doesn't have their own unique uniforms. Nike is headquartered out of Beaverton, I don't think that it's too much to ask for them to design different uniforms for us than all other countries in the world. Or maybe it is.
-
*checks you into the boards* I still like it.....mostly because there is more opportunity for girls to go to the Olympics and play college hockey than there used to be.
-
Oh crap. I thought the game was on at two......I did have it set to record though. I'm at work- yes I actually work somedays. Not many, but some. Maybe the US was looking ahead to the Gold Medal game with Canada. Pfft either way this sucks!
-
The Koronis jerseys aren't exactly like the Sioux jerseys.....but don't pay $120 bucks for them you can get them on eBay for like $80.
-
"Look same letters S-A-N-T-A.......S-A-T-A-N......coincidence? I don't think so."
-
Okay now I'm bored. I wish they would just keep playing the hockey games over and over rather than having to watch figure skaters warm up and give their entire background on them. I'd rather watch curling practice than listen to Scott Hamilton's sore throat talk about figure skating....... Ooh, wait things might get exciting Robin Roberts might get beat up by Katarina Witt....who just said dammit BTW.
-
IMO Latvia couldn't have tied the US team that showed up today......hopefully it's the team that we continue to see the rest of the tourney.
-
HockeyMom could get a live buffalo over the glass. Where there is a will, there is a way!
-
I don't like the new Nike jersies.......they're too streamlined. They look tight. Is it just Sweden that doesn't have them? I don't like every country having the same style jersies and having the only difference being the colors and the crest on the front.
-
The US looks crisper today.
-
Team USA did have a longer trip to Italy than was expected thanks to the storm on the East Coast, hopefully they were just tired......and they get their game together. I can't help but think of Herb's thoughts on NHL players in the Olympics......and All-Star teams. As for the women's team. I think they are skating well.......well, that is if you throw out the first two periods of the Finland game. I was having a hard time believing that the Fins were skating with the US, their goalie did a heck of a job. Then the hole opened up and the scoring began. I did laugh after the game the color guy asked Krissy Wendell what the US needed to do if they wanted to beat Canada....and she looked at him like WTF?! and said they didn't need to change anything just play their game. I was a little upset with that question, because there are two semifinal games to be played before the Gold Medal game. We need to be thinking about Sweden and Sweden only. HockeyMom loves the Olympics.

Cut out pictures and tape them to the wall? I just got a pic in my head of you having an entire wall filled up with pictures like Robin Williams in One-Hour Photo. Freaky

Well, you can still watch her play on Sat and Sunday........

Let the checking commence. I still say that women's hockey isn't as boring as people think. I have seen some great hits at Sioux games that haven't been called.......the best was right in front of us along the boards....a Maine player hit the glass hard and then slid down the glass and cracked her helmet off the ridge on the boards. It was classic. I think I may have even stood up and laughed. *throws ad for UND in here* Okay peeps, go check it out for yourself this weekend. This is your last chance to see the senior class (Aynsley Allen, Devon Fingland, Liz Funk, Anne Girtz, Amber Hasbargen, Margaret-Ann Hinkley, Meghan Hopps, Jessica Kovacevich and Meghan Mutrie) play at the Ralph. Don't be one of those people thinking 'I should have really gone to a women's hockey game this season'
