Both of these hires took for ever last year and I believe this set plate f or the year we had. I was looking back at last year’s comments Sw Sioux said there was nothing to worry about and was confident we would be top of the conference. Many on here thought Bledsoe was a good hire and now he was let go right after the season. I thought he might give us avenue back into recruiting in the Twin Cities. Then Wimberley was hired in August and here again is being let go very short time and I don’t what her responsibilities were for the team. The bottom line they serve at pleasure of Mallory but I am not sure if replacing them is going to make as big a change people are looking for. The offense and defense we play still has to come from Mallory.
I think possibility for new coach for the program is Chole Lamb from University of Mary and played on South Dakota women’s team two years ago. She was very good player and was very intelligent in her play there. Second she played under Dawn Plitzuweit who was known for her team’s playing good team defense something she could bring to this team since she played most of her college career under that system. We need fresh start on teaching new system here because what ever we have been doing is not working.
Malory needs to find coaches that can help her to getting to better offense and defense in place for next year or her tenure I feel will be over here. I have to believe this is her last chance here that she has to build this program to top Summit team and the door is closing fast.
I like that idea of chole lamb. Would definitely bring a winning mentality to the program.

As I recall, Brewster was fired around March 11, 2020, and Mallory was named interim head coach. Covid shut the world down less than two weeks later, and no national search was ever conducted. Or am I just not remembering the chain of events correctly?
Mal got the interim coach for that year. Won 2 games. They opened the position up after the season. Narrowed it to 4 finalists . Then Chaves came out and said taking interim title off Mal making her the head coach. If her job interview was coaching that team to 2 wins should have been fired. Now look at the dumpster fire we have.

Yes I believe he was from the south also. There was 4 candidates one being Mal. The other two females who I also thought would be better then Mal. When they announced the top 2 I thought well he got it and giving some credit to Mal as a alum and assistant to keep her as an assistant. Boy was I wrong. Never thought in a million years and only 2 wins the previous year would she get the job.

I am worried about her. She was not making a very good impression at the Summit game from a spectator perspective. She really needs to figure her world out fast cause this kind of dramatic fall can be detrimental to a program for years..
Look what happened to NDSU with bad coaching hires. They made a great hire in coach Jory. They went against the grain and hired a male outsider. When Mal was hired over the other guy that was in the final two with her I couldn't believe it. He had way more credentials and Mal came off a horrible year as intern coach.... but being a und grad and female gave it to her... great choice Chaves. AND im NOT saying females can't coach !!! Im saying hire the best person male OR female !!

I'd have kept Bledsoe connections in the cities over motherwell in Michigan. Those have not panned out at all.

I disagree on Doppler. He had a rough state tournament last year but i watched him play several times last year and think he has potential to carve out a top 8 role. He is 6-4 but I am guessing he has closer to 6-6 or even 6-8 wingspan and he can defend. He also has good vision and has a little slash and shake in his offensive game.
We will have to see who is right in the future about this pick. I feel he is under sized and to slow for division 1. He would be a great player for UMary

Doppler?
Yeah I don't think he is a division 1 player. Watching him last year in the class A tournament i wasn't impressed. Erickson either but his height has some upside

Coach said in the press conference they have a couple girls committed but not signed yet so she couldn't say anything. I'll be curious who they bring in.

Who is staying/leaving predictions...
Staying: King, Amar, Tyree, Mara, Kraft, Doppler, Erikson, Bothum
Leaving: Omot, Brooks, Matthews, Hong, Brady (graduated), T (graduated)
On the Fence: Treyson and Deng
I am saying Tyree is not going to make the same mistake transferring again and staying here next year. I also believe Treyson is chasing his uncles record and legacy. Money wont drag him away. Amar and King have a home here and wont leave. The only I think is on the fence is BJ. I am hoping a scholarship opens up with Doppler leaving.

I’ll be honest I completely forgot about Lieutenant Deng
I hope he can get his grades up. He would have been a HUGE improvement over Brady. Long athletic good defender.

I think we could use another rebounder. Doesn't mean bj is gone yet.... I hope

Some random observations of the UND game Sunday night from my USD fan view point. UND once again had no pep band at the tournament. The UND cheer squad looked like a second class operation, with few members and leading the team onto the floor with a UND flag about the size you would see in a freshman dorm room. Even prior members like the Leathernecks, IUPUI & IPFW had much better representation in these areas in their time in the Summit, despite being much farther from Sioux Falls than Grand Forks is. Granted, none of these items directly affect the game, but it sure screams that UND administration doesn't put much emphasis on the tournament.
That being said, UND did have a decent sized crowd at the game last night.
Hopefully the UND athletic department puts more emphasis on the whole Summit League Tournament experience in future years. Not only will it make it more enjoyable for UND fans but it will help improve the overall tournament atmosphere for all it attendance.
I've been saying this all year. This year has to be the most pathetic year I've seen at UND as far as band , cheerleaders, school spirit and student engagement. Not to mention the horrible changes the Betty made during the off season that were to have made a better experience. Whoevers idea it was needs to be fired. So disappointed in the university. I wonder what Andy thinks about it ?

Year 1 Bottom half of conference, lose in championship by 36
Year 2 Bottom half of conference, lose first round
Year 3 Worst team in UND history, one of worst D1 teams I’ve ever watched, don’t make SLT
Year 4 Finish 2nd to last in Summit League, lose in first round
Year 5 Finish 3rd, lose in first round due to one of the biggest choke jobs you’ll ever see
Chaves will see contract extension with that record!

Great coaching but I get jumped on when I said it before. Stop running your offense with the lead. Stop playing what got you the lead. Where is SD guy and the band to cheer on Sather again!??????

Come on these are type of players were trying to get here if we don't get talent we will never improve. Second, it's hard-to-get talent and don' t be so negative you can criticize but if you're that unhappy find team you want to be a fan of. I have been critical of Mallory and some of the players but when they are playing, I'm wanting the best for the team.
Because I said I hope she doesn't waste her talent here ???? You criticize the coach and team too ! She is a great player and I don't have any confidence in our coach will surround her with good talent. Hasn't proved it yet. If she doesn't live in grand forks she wouldn't choose und. Some times you need to be realistic and not live in the clouds

He might have had a bad first year but he was ranked top 5 assistant coaches and mentored WNBA players. Mal had never coached and came off a 2 win season. I'd have taken a chance on a outside person.
