  1. Tonight on the Nightly News they had a story about the increase in the number of men applying to the Big Brother program in Baltimore. Apparently the protests exposed the need for the youth of Baltimore to have strong male role models. So some good has come of things...

  2. You can not make this stuff up.............Bob's leadership is on display once again!

Higher ed decisions are ALWAYS run through committees and task forces.  That's just how things work...the leadership will change, but the committee system will remain.  I have been a part of UND for three different presidents and every single one of them utilized committees, task forces, and other groups.

  3. My only question is it this really 11th hour or him not being responsible enough during the first 10 to understand the whole issue?

I am not sure about the answer to your question, but I do know of other instances where Franklin missed various campus meetings only to follow up with emails accusing that the info covered in the meeting had been withheld from him.

My interpretation: the administration chose to "call out" student government as a whole because it was kinder than calling out just Franklin specifically.

By no means do I think the administration has zero fault in this, but there is a pattern of behavior displayed by Mr. Franklin witnessed by more than just Kelley, Reesor, and Brekke.

  4. I'm bummed the Wcha teams didn't show better. Excited the Sioux made the FF. Am hopeful but BU is a very significant obstacle and none od the other teams are push ivers either. But if UND can get through BU they've got as decent a shot as they can ask for

There is a big part of me that feels like our game vs. BU is the actual championship. Maybe because it involves the only remaining #1 seeds.
  5. The most puzzling thing about Faison was his eagerness to extend the contracts for the coaches from the Buning era that weren't even his guys! I love what BF has done on the conference affiliation front with the Sky and NCHC, that's outstanding work. But the way the coaching situations have been handled it almost smacks of laziness.

I honestly wonder if it has just been a case of prioritization for Faison. Thanks to Buning he had a lot to

address: budget issues, finding a conference for athletics, & changes in hockey conference all seemed to be at the top. While not ideal, keeping mediocre coaching staff with low paychecks (contract extensions instead of true raises) bought some time. Once those issues were settled, attention was given (along with $$$) to the 2nd biggest revenue team: football. Now that Bubba is here, I am hoping that brings the spotlight to MBB. Jones, you are on notice!

  6. I was just looking at the UND basketball media guide. And it reminded me exactly how mediocre this program has been for 20 years now. As far as I'm concerned, the high-water mark was 1999-00 (Mustard, Reinke, Travis, et al. senior year), when the team finished 23-8. Good for third place in the NCC.

I started paying attention to UND basketball probably about 18 years ago, and I must confess that this is why I cringe when people suggest bringing back Glas. I don't recall that much success with him at the helm, but my memory may be cloudy.
