From Fergus Falls, plays for SSM, I believe; a Smaby sized dman.

Listen live to the series first game tonight at 7:30

Yorkton (SJHL) came back from 3-2 to beat the Battlefords by winning the last two, they'll face Manitoba's Portage for the "West" entrant in the RBC.

INCH has coverage of the U18 team and this page shows Kyle Lawson as going to North Dakota (along with Chorney and Jones). Don't remember him being mentioned, anyone have anything on Lawson? Edit: looks like INCH screwed up, Heisenberg lists him as a Notre Dame recruit.

Was thinking about my earlier post and the fact that there are only 4 slots in addition to the host team (Weyburn) in the RBC, and realized there are too many provinicial junior champions to be in the RBC already. Couldn't remember from last year which provincial juniors played off against each other to earn the Pacific, West, Central, and Atlantic slots in the RBC. Assume Sask vs Manitoba for the West slot, Surrey vs. Camrose for the Pacific? Let's go, Surrey, would like to see Kozek in Weyburn.

Notes just as active in the box score as always Nice to see him in the goal scoring box also; must be avoiding the posts these days

Surrey wrapped things up last night with a 5-1 win, Kozek with the GWG. Watkins assisted on Vernon's loan goal. Surrey is on its way to the RBC in Weyburn. Kozek finishes second in post season BCHL scoring and first in goals scored with 16. Duncan ended up number 4 in scoring although with many fewer games played. National Canadian rankings have Fort William as #1 (part of a 5 team northern Ontario league, the SIJHL), followed by 4 OPJHL teams. The highest rated BCHL team is Nainamo at 6, Vernon at 10, and the winner Surrey is at #30. Final scoring leaders, BCHL playoffs

Kozek 1-1-2 in Surrey's Friday night win, 4-3 in OT (Watkins didn't score for Vernon). Surrey leads series 3-1, one more win and they are one of the 5 teams in the RBC, which will be played in Weyburn, Sask this year. That's just 45 miles north of the ND border (in western ND). Wonder if the Sioux coaches will be on hand recruiting? You can follow the RBC (May 7-15) here. Championship on May 15 (6:30CDT) will be shown on TSN, if anyone gets it.

Kozek scores one in Surrey's 3-2 loss to Vernon, Watkins not in the Vernon scoring. Surrey leads series 2-1. Watkins is interviewed on "this week in the BCHL with Bernie". Super acceleration and speed. Wow! This week in the BCHL

You've obviously missed a few years of Ductober talk in here

And from today's GFH:

One signed today, but not for the men's team. Signing

Radke, although we didn't see him much, was the only dman that, when he played, consistently got hard low shots on goal on the Sioux PP. Genoway was good at it, but obviously not a dman. Had to assume the lack of playing time was some defensive zone mistakes that the more experienced Sioux dmen did not make.

There has always been complaining about certain Sioux players taking too many penalties (prior to Al's internet). I remember a boatload of complaining about Archie taking dumb penalties in the early 80's. He's now a Sioux cult hero for his nastiness. I suspect Greene will be to, but hope he waits one more year before attaining that status.

Of course picking is a part of everyone's game. I've not seen any other team's pick stand out as so obvious as those of Denver's, even on TV. They flat out knock people down from behind to create odd man situations. Obvious and easily called. The Drummond interference that started this thread is not nearly as obvious as many Denver picks.

Fabian=pane specialist Greene=pain specialist

An interesting series of pictures, I didn't notice what lead to the goal. A typical Denver pick play, although in this case, 2 dmen are taken out by the same Denver wing (Drummond). They didn't lead the country in scoring most of the year for any other reason, they are the best picking team in the country. It's a step up from the tackling team they became a few years ago, but nonetheless constant interference leading to goals. They did the same thing against Bemidji leading to the GWG, although the pick was in the Denver end and led to an odd man situation in front of the Bemidji net. The big question is, how does a team get away with this stuff for an entire year, and in the NCAA's also. Tackling got them a championship last year, picks to set up goals got them where they are this year. Wonder if anyone will notice. When I first saw this stuff live at the REA, thought it was just the ineptitude of little Shep that led to no calls and Denver goals, however, seeing it with different officials who were otherwise calling the games rather tightly, I would guess other teams will have to pick up on this type of play and do it themselves, until the hockey world decides to make it a point of emphasis in officiating.

Has anyone found any of the AHL playoff games on TV. Fox Sports net (with a dish sports pak)? Anywhere else? Hope Colby does well in his AHL debut.

That was some great stuff, Rick. Had no idea that MSU was Matt's chosen school, until they changed their minds; big mistake. And not a bad deal for the Sioux

Aside from the obvious good things this site brings like "green" and "lots of Sioux fans", it has by far the best design/code of any hockey message board I've visited. Add all the extra features (what-if calcs, RSS, etc) and it blows all of them out of the water. Simply the best.

Careful; you'll have him talking football again

It it odd that even players think "intent" is part of the rulebook, when it is not. You'd need a jury trial to even attempt to prove intent, that's why it's not part of the rule. Yet even officials, I think, often try to determine intent and make a lesser call if they feel the action was "accidental".

But first, a western regional at the ralph. When do those tickets go on sale?
