That wont happen because of network commitments. They can't just pre-empt it for Directv as cable & OTA get the same feed. And most areas don't get both DAY & DAZ. ABC would have a coronary if DAZ keeps pre-empting programming (they already have a coronary when WDIO in Duluth pre-empts for Bulldogs hockey) Want to see the games? get a free to air system. Thats the easiest way besides going to the games Had mine for 4 years now and LOVE it...

I have a couple Fortec dishes (2 6 footers and a 90cm). The 90cm is nuts on for the elevation (for me at least). The 6 footer has no elevation scale so its trial and error. I have a Winegard too that one has been on the motor for 3+ years. Both get the job done Me personally...I prefer the Fortec receiver (but thats just me) I can hit info and see the meter on the TV no problems

you're welcome. Always glad to help out. Here's hoping they stay on IA8 this year (and show a few more games...hint hint...maybe some road games too)

it depends on the satellite. SInce there are about 20 satellites up there sometimes it may take a little bit to move the dish to the other satellite. Most take a couple seconds to move since 5 satellites are real close to each other so it takes a couple seconds. it isnt that bad to re-set up. If you move within the same general area the numbers dont even change. Like if you were in GF and for some reason, moved to Fargo, the only thing that would change might be the motor elevation. I set up a system here in Mpls then took it to our cabin near Brainerd. All I needed to do was adjust the motor elevation a smidge and was back in business

not possible due to a couple things -the footprint of the satellite pretty much being just the US and Canada -the fact the earth isn't flat same reasons why I can't get satellites from Europe here in the US
-
well lets see -Sioux (duh!) -most Bucky FSN games (games at UMTC excluded...explained below) -UMTC road games (the home games are fibred from the arena) -most UMD road games -once in a while a couple Anchorage or Fairbanks games (road games that they beamed back to Alaska)...this doesn't include the games I got on my old 6 foot backyard dish -Michigan/Michigan State/W Michigan etc games that FSN Detroit showed -Mich/Mich State/Notre Dame/W Mich etc games on Comcast local in Michigan -games on CN8 (East coast stuff but was able to see the Sioux tourney this year) -Miami, OH, Ohio State on Ohio News Network -a couple Maine games from the ABC station in Maine -most of the live ESPNU games These are just off the top of my head. Most of these have no commercials in them. They just stay at the arena and get ready for the "back from commercial" shot

Qwest may be a sponser for UND hockey but that doesnt mean anything else. Qwest is a sponser for a lot of teams FSSN is a PART TIME channel. The main reason its on FTA is to get the signal to the smaller cable co's that carry the game. So very uhnlikely it will be on the pizza dish any time soon. I'd rather have FTA with its clean picture than a pizza dish (Dish/Direct) and their compressed picture
-
DirecTv and Dish Notwork do not carry the FSSN. The FSSN is a part time channel (we call it feeds). The signal on satellite pops up 15 minutes before game time and goes off after its over. The best way to describe what free to air is if you remember the big backyard dishes that were 10 foot or more? Well now there is a new version called KU Band which uses a dish 30" in size. Yes you could still use the 10 footer if you want There are 2 systems, fixed (basic) and motorized. A fixed system is aimed at one satellite and that's it. A motorized allows you to scan the skies of all the free channels up there. As squirtcoach noted, a basic system will run you a couple hundred bucks. Check out the systems here http://sadoun.com/Sat/Order/Satellite-syst...FTA-Systems.htm Option S-1 would work really good and it would get you the satellite that the Sioux are on. Installation isnt bad for a fixed system. I've installed a few fixed systems for Sioux fans and have a cabin pretty close to Brainerd (Aitkin/Mille Lacs area) so I could help if need be There are lots of Sioux fans that have a fixed system and when the season ended the box gets unplugged until September when the season gets ready to roll. A motorized will allow you to pick up more. There are a fair amount of free channels up there and also feeds which come and go. A feed can be a news feed or sports feed. Got to see lots of college hockey on it besides the Sioux. Motorized will run about 100 bucks more and take a little more precise aiming to get it tracking the arc.

nice clean reception on the 6 footer
-
oh hells no Just logged on to see this. I have a 6 foot dish at G4 for the networks and checked all H transponders...never thought of checking the V side D'OH!!! Well now I know where it will be tomorrow
-
sadly none of the FSN's are carrying it live
-
a tape or DVD? I have both

Actually I watch the Duluth games via the ABC station in Duluth and telling Dish Network that I still live in Duluth They have my billing address as Mpls but they think I still live in Duluth (physical address is Duluth) so I have those network stations. I'm still hoping there is a feed SOMEWHERE but yesterday's 4 games were 0-4 on the FTA front
-
F _ C K Pat I'd like ot buy a vowel...can I buy a "U"? I searched most of the afternoon for the other games and nothing That is why...stupid fibre
-
That alternate channel is only used for wisco games (call it FSN-NorthWI). When there isnt a Bucks, Brewers or Bucky game on, that channel is nothing

and if they have the right satellite equipment
-
if i can find it, i'll post it
-
cheesemover works for sensers so if they have the coordinates they could possibly get it. I'm not resting my job on it (oh wait I was fired today so I guess I COULD rest my job on it) that they might get it depending on their equipment. I can't vouch for their equipment there but you can bet if I find it I'll be happy
-
yeppers. Thats how I saw the womens BB game last night. Live feed. no commercials, no scoreboard though and the best is seeing Sweeney pick his nose during commercials, hack a loogie and get f up the pregame a couple times Also seeing cameramen zoom in on hot chicks during the commercials LOVE the "backhauls" they are called. if its unencrypted as long as we know the coordinates we can get it.
-
I'm sure as heck gonna try. I know last year they were C-Band (big dish) and this year its primed and ready to go for tomorrow. ESPN+ used one satellite for all 4 regions last year
-
wanna bet?? If ESPN does this year like they did last year, its very possible they could pick it up. Last year the games were on C-Band analog in the clear (C-Band is them big ass back yard dishes) because I watched the feed that way. Its like the FTA stuff we have for the FSSN but different equipment and a bigger dish. If Sensers knew the coordinates (unfortunatelly the ESPN wont publish them) and they had an analog box (they've got C-Band..I've seen those on their buildings) they could feasably get it. Technically all Midco is doing is plucking the feed and reshowing it on Channel 23 in GF. Me, my big ass will be spinning the big dish tomorrow looking for the other games. Last year ESPN used one satellite for all 4 regions so maybe they will do the same Now if they encrypt them then we're all screwed with the FTA setups

82sioux you get a A++++ for the explanation
