  5. UAA GAME NOTES from their site nice stat i read is UND is 15 for 15 on PK. very solid start o the PK overall
  6. yeah i thought 5-8 games maybe as well and that still will give eids some time off. not that he needs it but just to see if we have a solid back up in case of anything
  7. just wondering how thats possible having little confidence in a goalie who shut out a very talented team, won 2 games prior and did what needed for a tie saturday. he wasnt great aturday but he wasnt bad either. i also want to see dell but for no other reason but to keep him fresh in case needed he rarely gives up more than 3 it seems at worst. he has given up 2, 2, 0 and 3 this season. not that bad. i think that stat last year was very lopsided when the sioux score 3 or more. at one point they were 12-1 or something like that. its nice having a goalie that keeps you in pretty much every game knowing he has the offense to get 3 or more most nights. im not a 100% stat guy either so im not just basing my opinion off numbers alone, just think he has played very solid having watched all 4 games so far this year
  8. it was a bemidji state one at least as i was leaving to the frozen 4 in dc this year ill make usre i pick out the best possible sioux hat i can find and yeah i think we are ok on the picks and trusting but thanks

  12. per brad http://www.areavoices.com/undhockey/ Weekly Wednesday update The weekly press conference actually was on Tuesday this week, because the team had a 5 a.m. departure time from Ralph Engelstad Arena to the airport this morning. There was a scheduled four-hour layover in the Twin Cities, then on to the Last Frontier. There's no volcano to worry about this season. UND coach Dave Hakstol wondered, "What are we going to talk about then?" He hadn't heard that Mt. Redoubt had erupted about a month after UND's visit to Anchorage last February. "So, we don't have to worry about it then?" he asked. Nope, no volcano alerts this year. The hot topics at the press conference were Ben Blood, Mario Lamoureux and the defensive unit as a whole. All will be touched upon in stories Thursday, Friday and Saturday. I asked Hakstol about sophomore defenseman Corey Fienhage, who hasn't gotten into a game yet. Hakstol said: "He's pushing hard. The six guys in front of him have made it very difficult to change the lineup. But he's pushing hard and he's a big part of this team. It's just a matter of time (before he's playing)." Hakstol didn't say anything about the goalies, but he has made it no secret that they want to get Aaron Dell some starts early in the season. They had hoped to play him on the Saturday of the Merrimack series, but felt that Brad Eidsness and the defensive corps needed some more time to clean things up. So, it would not be a surprise at all if Dell gets his first college start this weekend and Eidsness' lengthy starting streak ends. Last season, UND clinched home ice during its trip to Alaska. UND won the opener when Chay Genoway scored in overtime. He called his goal celebration of jumping up and down on the ice, "pretty embarrassing." Chris VandeVelde had a hat trick in the series finale.
  13. pretty sure both 2010. if you dont bring in forbort in 10 i think you are losing a year either way and i believe he will be ready

  22. 2 weeks, 2 awards. nice job chay! per brad http://www.areavoices.com/undhockey/ Genoway is defensive player of week Defenseman Chay Genoway wasn't feeling well this weekend but did enough damage to earn defensive player of the week honors in the WCHA. Genoway scored three goals in a three-point weekend against Minnesota -- the same number of goals he had all of last season. He had one on Friday night and a pair of power-play goals on Saturday. Genoway currently leads the team in scoring. Genoway also has been named one of the three stars in every Sioux game this season. The other players of the week were Duluth's Justin Fontaine (offensive) and Colorado College's Joe Howe (rookie). UND in weekly honors this season Oct. 13 -- Mike Cichy, WCHA rookie of the week Oct. 20 -- Chay Genoway, WCHA defensive player of the week
  23. nice, but still need one more out and i would say fienhage but who knows on him and how it will play out sitting out the first 4 games of the season
  24. per brad Pro hockey roundup http://www.areavoices.com/undhockey/ We're been wrapped up in UND's rivalry series for the last week-plus, so here's a quick rundown on what former Sioux players have been doing in the pros: **Jonathan Toews scored his first goal of the season on Saturday night. He has 1-4--5 in 8 games. Toews is third in the NHL in faceoff wins and faceoff winning percentage (60.7). He's also a plus-6, which leads the Blackhawks. **Ryan Johnson doesn't have any points yet, but he's still playing his type of game. He has more blocked shots than any other Vancouver Canucks forward. **Drew Stafford has a couple of goals early in the season for the Sabres. **Taylor Chorney has played three games in the NHL, one more than he did last season. **Mike Commodore has been injured, but could come back this week. Commodore is on Twitter, by the way, at commie22 (and yes, it is him). **Matt Greene ranks fourth in the NHL in blocked shots with 21. **Travis Zajac and Zach Parise are tied for first on the New Jersey Devils in scoring. Zajac ranks 10th in the NHL in faceoff wins. **Jason Blake ranks third in the NHL in takeaways. **T.J. Oshie scored his first goal of the season last weekend. **Ryan Bayda has three goals in the last two games for Wilkes Barre-Scranton. Bayda is looking to get a call up to Pittsburgh. **Brian Lee is the top defenseman scorer for Binghamton with four points in six games. **Andrew Kozek is off to a great start for Chicago, tying former Duluth Bulldog Tim Stapleton for the team lead in points (four). Kozek and Rylan Kaip are tied for the team lead in plus-minus with a plus-two. Chicago's coach was ousted today. **Jean-Philippe Lamoureux has gotten one start for the last-place Portland Pirates in the AHL. **Jordan Parise grabbed his first win of the season in goal for the ECHL Wheeling. **Michael Forney is playing for Gwinnett in the ECHL. **It took Matt Watkins just 6 minutes, 51 seconds to score his first professional goal. It was assisted by Robbie Bina. Their ECHL Las Vegas Wranglers lost, though. **Former UND D-partners Joe Finley and Zach Jones are playing together at ECHL South Carolina. **Rick Wilson coached Craig Ludwig at UND. Now, their sons (Landon Wilson and Trevor Ludwig) are teammates on the Texas Stars.
  25. it is going to be a issue and im not sure why they brought in more than 1 even this year. i know sometimes things happen and people leave but this one you could see coming after both forbort and mattson commited with no top nhl d prospects that could leave early. even if one left for some reason its still a issue. i understand you want 1 guy who can step in as a 7th d man but when the 2 freshman that are coming in that have a chance to be a 3 year player then that creates the log jam 10/11 of everyone returns and comes in mattson forbort marto lapoint blood fienhage gleason macwilliam hill
