  15. brads update Weekly Wednesday update With no injuries to closely follow, other than the gradual progress of Chay Genoway (who has worked out now) there weren't many pressing updates from today's weekly press conference. Subjects of discussion included the Olympics, Brett Hextall, Colorado College's speed and the WCHA race for fifth place and the final home-ice spot in the playoffs. There will be a story about Hextall in Thursday's Herald and a Q&A with Jake Marto in Friday's. Marto is hoping his Central Knights win their first state title since his junior year, when he helped them to a 3-2 victory over Fargo South. There have been a few e-mails about WCHA tiebreaking scenarios. Here's what they are: 1. Head to head. 2. Most conference wins. 3. If a four-game series was played between the teams, the tiebreaker goes to the team with the fewest goals against in head-to-head games. If only two games were played, go on to No. 4. 4. Goal differential in all conference games. Incase you're looking all the way down to No. 4 (since UND and CC have identical records and No. 3 wouldn't apply if they split this weekend), here's what the current goal differentials are in league play: 1. Wisconsin +31 2. UND +21 2. DU +21 4. SCSU +10 5. Duluth +9 6. CC +8 7. Minn +2 8. Mank -16 9. UAA -38 10. Tech -48

  21. brads blog Hextall had three goals and one assist in a two-game sweep of Minnesota-Duluth. He's on a career-best, seven-game point streak with eight goals and three assists during that time. Hextall was plus-three in the series against the Dogs. For the season, Hextall has 12 goals, six assists and 18 points. Eidsness stopped 53 of 56 shots (.946 save percent) in the sweep of Duluth. He has allowed just four goals in the last three games, all Sioux wins. During those games, Eidsness has a 1.51 goals-against average and a .951 save percentage. Eidsness currently sits in second place behind Marc Cheverie for the WCHA's goaltending title. Nine different Sioux players have earned weekly WCHA honors this season. The only two-time winner so far is Corban Knight. UND in weekly honors this season Oct. 13 -- Mike Cichy, WCHA rookie of the week Oct. 20 -- Chay Genoway, WCHA defensive player of the week Nov. 10 -- Evan Trupp, WCHA offensive player of the week Dec. 1 -- Danny Kristo, WCHA rookie of the week Jan. 12 -- Jason Gregoire, WCHA offensive player of the week Jan. 12 -- Corban Knight, WCHA rookie of the week Feb. 16 -- Chris VandeVelde, WCHA offensive player of the week Feb. 16 -- Corban Knight, WCHA rookie of the week Feb. 23 -- Brett Hextall, WCHA offensive player of the week Feb. 23 -- Brad Eidsness, WCHA defensive player of the week
  22. per brads twitter Hextall and Eidsness win WCHA offensive player and defensive player of week awards.
  23. the league better start promoting sid and ovy even more somehow. they are the league and will be the league for many years. they both are great in their own way. like or dislike either of them or the personal antics but they are the best thing thats happened to the game of hockey in years. sid vs ovy is what hockey needs. the problem is we wont see them in a stanley cup unless one of them moves and thats still a long ways from being possible. betman better wake the F up and utilize these guys the right way. love them or hate them, they both are superstars and its great they have a personal rivalry. gettting to toews, he needs to be a top 2 line guy for canada. they arent playing him much in the 3rd and that had to hurt canada vs the usa.
