The board is already cranky, and we haven’t even blown a two-goal lead yet.

    LOL.

No, not cranky. Tryna have some fun. I agree with Dave this weekend; Two easy wins for the good guys.

"Easy win" not being quite the same thing this year as in the past, obviously. The boys will come out blazing and won't play from behind all weekend.

Whether Einstein ever said it or not and whether it bugs you or not, it aptly describes how the coaching staff is managing the lines this season. And it is a legitimate area of concern.

Oh, I hadn't heard about that.

I apologize for not maintaining 100% serious focus on what the team needs at all times.

I am well aware. It's not the definition of insanity, and Einstein never said it.

It's just one of those things in pop culture that bugs me. Hey, we all have 'em. :D

Edit: The phrase actually comes from a Narcotics Anonymous pamphlet, circa 1981.

Log on to NCHC.tv and pull up an archived game. On the bottom is a line where you can control the spot in the game.  Tinker with it to get familiar with it.  When you pull it up on Saturday, it'll start live, but you can pull it back to the beginning.

One slight addendum to this. Have someone else learn to do this so they can start the game for you, so you don't accidentally see the scoreboard while it's live.

Two guesses who scored the lone goal for the Islanders

I've often thought about how much it could help college hockey if our tv broadcasters where even a fraction as interested in college hockey as football broadcasters are in college football. Tom Brady has been playing for decades, and they still mention where he played college ball and what round he got drafted. Imagine if the broadcast crew for this game cared enough to highlight that all three goals were scored or assisted by guys that went to the same college. And obviously, not just UND. They could give all of college hockey a boost by emphasizing these connections.

As annoying as it is at times (the state of hockey!!, blah blah blah) the BSN crew does a fair job of talking up Minnesoda connections, but I'll be damned if they mention anything beyond Minnesoda.

I actually think going to 25 was his best option.  Drop it off to 25 who is on his forehand skating to his left with a visual on the entire rink.  Then Frisch can take any lane up the ice to take a trapping bulldog with him. And create space.

It went wrong with forcing the puck up the ice into the trap.  Like you said, "Communication".

Yeah this, or just hang a right and circle around from behind the net.

    My coaches taught:

If there's one attacker "below" you and D partner, and your D partner has them, the net front is your responsibility, and even more so if the play behind the net is going toward your corner* (which it was if you were 25). Why? The rest of play is moving in toward you from behind (trailers). Notice the direction Howard showed up: behind where 25 should've been. And notice a second 'dog behind Howard; mentioning him ...

The forward play? We were taught if the center is in zone the forwards stay no deeper than the bottom of the circles, preferably covering up direct passes to the points. The center goes below the goal line if he's in zone. Notice 9: the D on his side was uncovered and had crept down and was ten feet behind Howard. (EDIT: It wasn't the D, it was a forward, Spicer.)

3 lost his man and allowed a reverse in direction; 25 left the front; 27 after the reverse went to the puck leaving an open slot as 25 just left; 9 was just out of position (and with more experience may have recognized the uncovered slot).

Each of 25, 27, or 9 barely twitched a head to see what was coming in behind them; all were locked onto the hypnotic puck.

*The exception to that was if your center was in the slot and called you to retrieve. Then you could leave the front.

I never played hockey beyond being one of a few neighborhood kids clearing a spot on a slough so we could slap the puck around on a Saturday afternoon, so, thank you for this! I'd be thrilled if we could see a lot more of this type of content around here, and a lot less

  8. Wow, this place gets really bizarre when things aren't going well! At least we all know if the sports aren't entertaining, these boards will be good for a few laughs!
