  1. Sorry, but the North Dakota . . . Nodaks?   What is a Nodak?

You are equating ND Nodaks to Missouri Mizzous?    No, Missouri is the Tigers.

Calling ND the Nodaks would be like calling NDSU the Staters, it would be really dumb.  What are people thinking?  The only reason to call yourselves the Nodaks would be so you could continue to call yourselves the the Sioux.   Nodaks, a really bad idea.

A Nodak is a person ffrom North Dakota. Glad I could clear that up for you.

  2. Their logo also is usually in the bottom to bottom half of any logo rankings because of this.

For a modern logo, wild is about as good as it gets. They obviously can't compete with the Redwing and bruins type old school logos but for logos created recently wild have a top notch one.

  3. Uh, no.

Sioux was adopted in the 1930s. The use of Nodaks was in the 1940s (was it perceived better than Sioux?) and then rubbished.

If we were looking for a name to replace the sioux but had the option of keeping the sioux I would rubbish it, yad be a wanker  not ta

  4. Nodaks? It's been put on the ash heap once already, and by UND no less.

Ya, discarded for the greatest name in the history of  competitive Athletics. If we had the choice now, we'd all prefer sioux just like they did back in the day . But we don't so we pick the best of the rest.

  5. If Taubenheim says he made the kick I believe him.  He would know.  He has kicked thousands of footballs in practice and in games and it is easy to know if you made it or not after watching so many kicks.

I think field goal calls should use the honor system for in or missed.

  6. Absolutely not. How are you supposed to comprehensively gameplan for UNC with the Cal Poly offense in mind. Coaches can look at both for sure, but the players need to focus on their NEXT opponent, UNC.

Focus on UNC and let's get that win first.

We'll 2 weeks before the Montana state game the players were fully game planning for Montana. Somehow they were able to switch gears and think about Montana state.

We should use two weeks effectively not just spend twice as much time on the next opponent.

  7. What's wrong with a ND fighting hawk? It's an OFFICIAL logo that the athletic department and university can finally be associated with. The alternatives are no better.

If you like the name fighting Hawks, by all means vote for it. But voting for it because you think more people will buy t shirts is crazy logic to me.

  8. Talked to a former UND grad today, good friend, and I asked him who he was voting for this time around...He said, "i'm not going to play their game so screw'em"....whatever name eventually wins is definitely tainted by the fact that simply 'North Dakota' was left off the ballot.  This whole process has divided us and that is sad...

But he voted the first time?

  9. 100 % agree!!   On a cooler, rainy, windy day I guess students in grand forks nd have better things to do, like yard work or hunting, or maybe fixing the dryer!??!????  I guess they have much better things to do then supporting the football team ?????

What has the football team done to do aanything to excite fans lately though. Get embarrassed by the in state rival, then actually win a big game against Portland state to then go out and lay 3 eggs. The team has never been able to sustain excitement and students do have better things to do on a Saturday afternoon than watch a team that dissapoints at the first hint of improvement.

  10. the offense runs so much better with Studsrud.  I'd argue based on results this season it has everything to do with Studsrud.

The only tthing that matters is whether we can run the ball and whether the defense makes timely stops. If the defense doesn't make those stops we lose. The defense isn't good enough to win games but we need them to make stops late in  the game

  11. Also, MSU should probably look at firing all of their coaches etc., they turned it over....couldn't stop us on offense, had two costly penalties towards the end of the game.  Man they better start questioning their whole program and if they will ever have long term success.   (this is sarcasm by the way, as if we would have lost that one that's what a number of people here would be saying about our coach and team)

Have you been on the bobcat bboard? That's pretty much exactly what it was like... Before this game.

  12. Studs has "it".

This game has nothing to do with studs and eeverything to so with two monster freshman running backs and a line getting push. Plus a defense getting opportunistic stops and turnovers.

  13. Sounds like a perfect opportunity to educate visitors to the University about North Dakota. Even if Roughriders never set foot in ND etc, at least there's an educational opportunity and a built in history about Teddy Roosevelt/Roughriders.

Can't be said about FH, or Nodaks.

You could play in the NBA with that reach
