  1. I'll start looking.
  2. Hmm, that's beyond my expertise to make the call. But we're talking about marketing, and fisher will have a lot of name confusion. Plus, it doesn't work with a white color scheme (which hopefully doesn't raise charges about color sensitivity). I think the ermine can represent both itself and the fisher. And as far as I can tell, there's no other team called the Ermines anywhere in the country. How often can a college claim a mascot that is marketable, fierce, AND completely unique?
  3. I'll make my case here. They need a mascot that is native to North Dakota - the ermine is native to North Dakota They need a mascot that is (at least somewhat) unique to North Dakota - the ermine's range is very limited in the U.S. They need a mascot that is fierce but marketable - the ermine is a fierce predator while also being highly charming visually They need a mascot that works with green and white - ermine are white, at least in winter They need a mascot that is unique and recognizable - as far as I can tell, there's no other team called the ermines
  4. Yes, exactly. A very tough weasel that is a high-energy whirling dervish of destruction. Pound for pound, it's the toughest creature in the state assuming that we don't have mantis shrimp in some aquarium somewhere.
  5. If they're marketing savvy, they'll go with Ermines. It links to the state, matches UND's brand of being a tough, high-energy school that punches more than its weight, and it's completely unique and original.
  6. There's a pretty obvious nickname that needs to be more discussed more widely. There's a fearsome animal that lives in North Dakota that would be a great mascot. If we review the criteria, we see that... 1. It's fierce and highly energetic and passionate. 2. It's native to North Dakota. 3. It's unique and highly marketable. No other known school has the name. 4. It's an adorable and cute mammal, which works well with marketing, mascots, etc. 5. It would be very recognizable for the school, which would aid in recruiting. 6. It's small, but ferocious for its size, which would match the brand of UND. 7. It complements the mascots of other nearby schools (Wolverines, Badgers, Gophers) while also being quite unique and much more cool. 8. It could work with the current color scheme. 9. If you put UND in front of it, you get a fun Machiavellian play on words. I present to you The UND Ermines! Look at the fearsome yet adorable face on this killing machine! It would be true marketing genius to take this name. It works on every level.
