A saying that I know I uttered probably THOUSANDS of times in my high school days, has prompted a lawsuit, though it was brought by the family of the girl that said the phrase after the school came down on her for saying it. Link.

As an employer of many high school/college students, I can't even imagine how many times I have heard them use that phrase. I remember the first time I heard it though. I asked the kid that said it what it meant.

Notice how harrassing the girl about her religious beliefs is okay, but her response to it was a punishable offense.

Yes, it is politically correct and even laudable to poke fun at someone about their religious beliefs, especially if the beliefs are strict. No one should be offended by that though. Pretty twisted. I do not consider myself a conspiracy-minded type but academia does seem to be thoroughly infested with these PC types. Notice how the school uses an unrelated tragedy to justify itself.
