Kupchella's Letter

In President Kupchella's Open Letter to the NCAA (http://www.UND.edu/president/html/statements/NCAAletter.html), he has produced a gem of a document that profoundly states that UND will not sit quietly while this assult on our beloved University looms heavily over this coming season. Bravo!

I have not been a big fan of Kupchella in the past. In fact, until now, he has appeared ambivilent toward the Fighting Sioux name. I was afraid he was one of those outsiders who bend to the slightest breeze of political correctness. I was wrong.

Bravo, Mr. Kupchella. Fight on Sioux.

Thank you for directing folks to the appropriate thread. I wanted to get it on the Hockey board, because I don't think full awareness is present there. UND is hosting the Western Regionals this season, and many who have griped about the NCAA's decision may not be aware of the Letter.

Regardless, this issue isn't about hockey alone. Federov's right. These threads belong in the Sioux Name forum.

Did anyone see Chucky K on Fox News Sunday Morning? He was just explaining his letter. The interviewer mentioned that he wouldn't want to have to argue against the letter. Sounds like a good review.

Did anyone else see this? I just spent some time looking for a link but I got turned around and for some reason absolutely need to watch Shepard Smith.

I didn't see that, but in the process of looking for information about it, I stumbled in this transcript of Kupchella's appearance on Hugh Hewitt's radio show. (Scroll down to "President Charles Kupchella' Open Letter to the NCAA.") This comment by Hewitt is interesting:

Now President Kupchella, I'm a law professor in addition to doing this over at Chapman University down in Orange County, California. And I am stunned that an entity that is close to the state would attempt to dicate speech without consultation and due process, and you've got contract issues.
