JasonMacIsaac
Hey, I only got to see Zajac clips from the BCHL but I was wondering if anyone could help me with a description for the following areas of his game. Speed Accelleration Defense Shot Playmaking Hockey Sense Physical Game From what I gathered he is big and lightning quick with excellent top end speed, he has a hard shot, plays well on the PK. His playmaking was his biggest strength in the BCHL but doesn't have the assist count to prove that in the NCAA. He isn't all that physical but does use his size well in the offensive zone. For a freshman he is the complete package and as the season is progressing his assist total is balancing out with his scoring. I think it says something about a freshman when they have been their top ten team's most consistent offensive weapon.
redwing77
He's got a great shot, good stick handling, uses his size (crashing the net and strong in the corners) and he is a SUPERB PK player. I really don't think he's the fastest player on the ice, but he isn't slow. Murray and Spirko, IMO, are faster. Speed wise, he's a lot like Drew Stafford. ScottM
FWIW, Zajac is ranked by Hockey News as one of the top-10 NHL prospects in the NC$$ game, along with guys like Montoya, Chucko and Stafford. They're projecting he'll be ready for "prime time" in 2006.
