schmidtdoggydog
Standard disclaimer applies to this thread. Brad Berry was present today. Unfortunately, he really didn't say too much of substance. He basically gave a recap of the season thus far. He did mention that UND is 5-3-2 and that is not where they wanted to be, but did point out that seven of the ten games thus far have been against ranked teams and that trend continues with games against Wisconsin this weekend. He said the team is striving to find consistency and to put together 60 solid minutes of hockey and figure out a way to get the puck into the back of the net. A couple of questions were asked about recruits and the early signing period, but BB opted not to answer either question other than to say UND has nine seniors this season. Question about which goaltenders will make the trip this weekend and BB said that hasn't been determined yet. Question about the improved look of the power play. BB said that Cary Eades is now in charge and the big difference is UND was getting shots on net last weekend with the man advantage and that is the key. Question was asked whether the penalties that Greene is taking really are penalties or calls based on reputation. BB said it was a very good question and answered that it was a little of both, but reputation definitely is a factor. He said that MG has been very aggressive this season especially on the penalty kill and they are reminding him to tone it down a little. He mentioned that when UND is down 5 on 4 and with the new emphasis on penalties, because of MG's size everything he does on the ice is magnified and that can lead to trouble. He said a lot of MG's penalties would be penalties at any level, even the NHL, but that many are based on reputation, not unlike what Commodore had to endure. He did also say that MG is a quality individual and a great leader and brings a lot to the team and is the type of player you need on a team. BB did mention that Genoway leads the team in scoring and that two freshmen rank second and third (Spirko and Zajac). He said before Zajac got an assist last weekend that his teammates were calling him Cy Young because he was 6 and 0 (g's and a's). Question about World Juniors. BB said it will be odd playing against Stafford during the exhibition especially after playing with him the two days before (against Canisius) and that he hopes Stafford treats his teammates well the week before that game. Other than that, not much was said. Most of the comments today were very generic in nature - sorry.

airmail
Agreed, very generic. However, I think I like this: ...power play. BB said that Cary Eades is now in charge...

teamsioux
No matter how you held Blais as a coach, he always had quotes and comments for us and/or opposing fans to discuss. It is quite obvious that this coaching staff keeps things a little tighter to the vest, hopefully Eades will provide some juicy stuff before the year is over! Doesn't DH and BB realize we need things to do while we are at work during the week!!

Five coaches and one swimmer spoke before he did. Throw in comments from the lady that organizes the gathering and comments from RT in between each speaker - all of this within an hour - and BB had just a few minutes to address the group. It may have been a case of the coaches being warned to be extremely careful with their comments considering the early signing period is just around the corner. I thought Hakstol was fairly candid last month and hopefully that will be the trend.
