Yes, I think they will really lose a big opportunity if thet don't start this Fall. Many families will not or can not spend $200 or more for a few hours entertainment at an nhl game. Although minor league hockey seems to be doing well in many areas, most of the nhl cities do not have a team. A couple exceptions are Philadelphia and Detroit.

Chicago also has the Wolves.  Some people may even classify the Blackhawks as minor league, but at least on paper they are NHL. (That really hurt to say that, but I'm afraid it is true.)

Uh, not really. Chicago can win sometimes. If you want an AHL team at an NHL leve, go to Pittsburgh

This WHL has failure written all over it...hell, the NHL has failure written all over it. Does anyone give a flying @#%$ about the lockout? I don't know anyone who does. College hockey is such a far superior game, it's not even close. The Oilers of the mid-80's, now THAT was hockey!

It will be interesting to see which network, the College Sports Television Network or the new ESPNU, will devote more coverage to college hockey. The last I heard the new ESPNU is supposed to go on the air sometime in March 2005 so the 2005-06 season will be their first full winter sports season .

Rutgers, the first thing you learn as a hockey fan is this: Never be excited about anything ESPN does for hockey until you actually see it with your own eyes. ESPN is devoted to basketball, NASCAR, and nonspots (Poker, Dream Job, I'll Do Anything, etc.). Did I mention basketball?

If ESPNU follows DI hockey, I'll be happy. If they don't, I won't be surprised.
