Hum, so basically your saying its sterile to you too eh?

I think as a whole the arena is not sterile. There are a few spots that have some fun and make some noise. Those spots are just not in "corpie-land". Show me ANY arena besides UW that gets the whole place into it over 80% of the time tho....

Next year I myy make it up to UND and show you guys how to tailgate in the winter! ???

Good luck, well actually it is pretty easy since no one tailgates at the new arena. When I was up there my first two years going to games at the old REA tailgating was awesome. I remember standing outside the arena in line from 10 AM both Friday and Saturday mornings for the Gopher series games at 7 pm :) That was the best, barrel fires, plenty of adult beverages, ordering pizza to a spot in line, and Sioux Championship ice cream. People even camped out overnight in tents. The temps BTW were well below 0

So don't tell us how to tailgate...we do know how :D

I have been to...

Marriucci...it would be a nice arena if it had atmosphere. The fans don't know anything and have the dumbest cheers. Had my Sioux jersey on under my winter coat mainly because we were walking around looking for tickets and no one was going to sell to someone wearing Sioux stuff. But once inside it was on and had the regular people yelling Sioux sucks blah blah. But nothing major like beer getting thrown at me.

SCSU...Ah the damn hippy tree hugging protesters. Please get a life. Walking into this arena with Sioux stuff on is actually fun. People for the most part are respectful and will yell a few things. But inside again no atmosphere due to the way it is set up and the fans don't know anything. LOL, one time my friend and I had to scare off a few 16 year old kids for throwing stuff at us. The bars afterwawrds are fun to go to and hear everyone yelling Sioux sucks. But after they get past that they are nice to talk to.

Mankato...This arena is kind of set up like SCSU. The fans don't know anything and they really don't have a student section. The Sioux had a bigger student section than they did. We almost had a brawl break out in front of us. Some drunk Mankato fan was picking on a Sioux fan taking his hat and throwing it down. The Sioux fan then proceeded to run up the stairs and was going to beat him up but had more class than that. There is a nice bar down there (forgot its name, I think Irish), they have a BW3 next to the arena which is also nice. And to that dumb lady who brought her baby to the arena yelling at me for taking her seat...COME TO THE GAME EARLY AND DON"T BRING YOUR STINKY KID.

Duluth...This by far was the best road trip we took. The fans are knowledgable and get into it. And we had our air horns taken away because the people a few rows in front of us were complaining we were being too loud. Wahhh, AGAIN don't bring your baby to a game....it does get loud. I brought my Sioux banner to the games and enjoyed waving it around after they scored and swept the series. The bar we went to was Blackwoods. Damn, they had the best tasting beer I have ever had and unfortunately they don't sell anywhere else other than the restaurant since they make it themselves. And if anyone else has been to Blackwoods they know that when you go to the restroom you can look out over the bar while taking a whiz

I've gone to several CC/UND games as well as DU/UND game at both the World Arena and Magness Arena. While generally speaking the crowds are friendly, they aren't too bright on the rules of hockey. The fans that sit around me talk about getting their nails done, what's on sale at Nordstrom, or about the Broncos quarterback situation. I'd recommend a trip out to Colorado Springs or Denver for any Sioux fan wishing to see good hockey (CC and DU typically play the Sioux well in their buildings; minor exception being DU last fall) as well as getting in some skiing up at Vail or Winter Park.

Oh yah, I forgot to mention the arenas-Magness is a HUGE improvement to their old barn with the rainbow on the end wall. Did you know that the players actually had to step up from the bench to get out onto the ice?!?! The new arena lacks character however-very little identifying signs that it's home to the Pioneers. Heck, their NCAA and WCHA championship banners are printed so small you can't read them!

Once DU won the championship, all of these people came out of the woodwork claiming to be loyal DU fans? Where were these people all the years when I would go to DU games against such teams as BC, Maine, UNH, MINN, UND, etc. and the 6k seat arena would barely be half full? CC/DU is the ONLY series that they can sell out.

World Arena-Nice but again, sterile. They play on Olympic size ice, which I hate. Fans are nice; almost annoyingly nice. As a CC alum, I hate to say this but the students are stupid (they're a bunch of rich Californians who know nothing about hockey). Their only cheer is to say the name of the goalie 3x and then say, "You suck D*$K!" Not very "PC" for such a liberal school now is it?!?!

CC made a HUGE mistake by not taking the opportunity to own it. Instead, they let the city finance it. What this means is, CC is a tenant and they pay rent. They recover nothing from the beer and concessions. The former CC president, Katheryn Morhman really messed up that one. They play concerts, WWF wrestling, rodeos, etc there. CC really missed a great revenue opportunity.
