UND (8-16, 3-9) @ ISU (10-12, 5-6) 2/10 8 PM

UND put up a solid effort once again on the road against a tough Weber squad, but couldn't finish the job for the 2nd game in a row.  Now after surviving their stretch of 12 games of their tougher part of the schedule, they start the final 1/3 of the conference schedule against the Bengals of ISU.

Make no mistake for UND, the first 12 games have been against the top half of the conference (minus ISU), They went 2-9 against the top 6, however in their recent play they let 3 games get away that could have been wins.  If those had flipped, we might be having a different conversation.  Nevertheless, minus the matchup against UNC at home, the rest of the schedule is against teams in the bottom 6 of the standings right now, so UND has a great opportunity to start getting some wins and getting more confidence as they head towards Reno.  The goal should be to go 5-1 in this stretch, end 8-10 and be the 7 seed in Reno.

ISU wants to end this losing streak against UND, they have never beaten UND in BSC play and this could be the last chance of doing so (they realistically could meet up Day 1 in Reno).  They are a much improved team from a year ago, doubling their win total from last year.  They too have dropped a couple they wish they hadn't and that is the difference between them being in the hunt for a first round bye right now to actually battling for 3rd place in the conference!  Bill Evans should have at least some consideration for COY, but with the Griz, EWU and UNC coaches having great success, it won't be very much

Other games:

NAU (1-10) @ SUU (3-8)

The two bottom feeders of the conference battle once again to avoid the basement.  SUU is the better team of the two and should be able to win in Cedar City.  NAU is looking to desperately get win number 2.  They both hit the road for the UND/UNC road swing.

PSU (4-7) @ MSU (6-6)

The Bobcats got a big win over the Hornets to stay in the hunt for the first round bye and now they need to continue to defend the home court against a high powered Vikings squad. With a road swing to Idaho/EWU next week, they need this win. PSUs chances of getting a first round bye are slim but they can make life difficult for anybody.

UNC (7-5) @ Weber (9-2)

Game of the night will be in Odgen.  Both teams at sitting in the first round bye positions and both want to improve their standings.  UNC wants to put the pressure on Idaho (since they have the tiebreaker) and Weber wants to put the pressure on the Griz (stay two back and hope they slip up before their meeting at the end of the year).  Harding vs Speight will be an excellent matchup.

SAC (3-8) @ Griz (12-0)

The Griz have gotten through the first 2/3 of the season undefeated and they stand a pretty good chance to go 13-0 before a tough Idaho/EWU road swing upcoming.  Sac State is capable of making this interesting.

The call:

ISU is favored at home but I think UND is clearly in their heads.  This is the best opportunity for the Bengals to finally break the streak.  However, I think the guards of UND will have a better night than they did in Odgen and Avants/Jones will play solid and UND comes away with the road win.

UND 81-73
