dagies
Face-Offs: Who takes the face-off? The Center of the line? The best face-off guy on the line? I can see both ways. Help.
The Sicatoka
The answer is very situational: Offensive or defensive zone? Goalie's right or left, or better, goalie's stick or glove side? Power play? Are you looking to get the puck on net and try to scrum one in, get it to a shooter in the high slot, get it to the boards and try to cycle it, or draw it back and set it up? Of course, if your guy can't win a draw, all the best strategy is worthless.
Greyeagle
Sicatoka is right when he says it's situational. If you watch in key situations late in games you'll see coaches throw out more than one good face-off man. Example? Lucia had both Pohl (our best), Koalska (very good) and Taffe (pretty good) out for the last minute when we played Maine. Worked out well for us. One could argue they'd be out there anyway, but Koalska typically centered the second PP unit and was out there instead (I think) of a more natural scorer in Riddle.
