jimdahl Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 I've got my first attempt at the new RPI and PWR up now. There is modest ambiguity in the NCAA's description, and none of the big guys with connections (e.g. USCHO or CHN) have an online implementation yet, so it's possible one of my implementation detail guesses was wrong. I know what my assumptions were, so they'll be easy enough to fix once the details become clear. Quote
gfhockey Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 we would be out of the tourney if it started today all hail hakstol! hak for president! Quote
jimdahl Posted November 19, 2013 Author Posted November 19, 2013 In response to this question: First off, love all the stats this site provides! It's proven very helpful as a good reference site for when i'm looking up PWR comparisons and RPI calculations and I applaud all the work you do at keep it up to date and accurate I difference I notice this year though is that I'm unable to click on a team in the RPI rankings so we can see the per-game RPI calculations that you had in previous seasons. Is this a function of the new way the RPI is being calculated or is this just a feature you haven't displayed yet for the season? Thanks in advance and keep up the good work! I got the PWR details working because they're largely the same as in the past (TUC is gone, but otherwise the same). However, the RPI details are very different -- games have different weights dependent on both the location AND outcome and there are bonuses for quality wins. I'll try to get a useful new "RPI details" screen designed in coming days/weeks, but it will probably be a work in progress this season until we all get a good handle on what really matters. Quote
Ryan Miller Posted December 2, 2013 Posted December 2, 2013 Mr Dahl, First, thanks for your work in this. It is much appreciated. Second, while I have not gotten my own files up to spec, I have one question (so far) on yours. It appears that for tie games, you award 0.4 wins to the home team and 0.6 wins to the away team. This might be correct, but I don't recall seeing an article on that. If it is correct, can you point me to a source for it? Thanks, Ryan Quote
