That's aweful to hear. It does seem fairly odd, I'm almost certain he'd have a helmet on. Seeing as how the puck was "lobbed" it had to have been from hitting the ice. Who knows though? Sometimes it doesn't take much, all it has to do is hit the right spot.

It's the exact reason why USA Hockey and Hockey Canada Require coaches to wear helmets at practice. This isn't the first instance where a non player has been killed or severely injured well participating in a hockey event.
