The Mavs finished the voting with 14 points. MSC was followed by Western State, Colorado School of Mines, Adams State, Ft. Hays State, Fort Lewis and New Mexico Highlands. The Mavericks will report to camp on Thursday, August 7 to begin practice. MSC will open the 2003 season on the road at Central Oklahoma on September 6. The following Saturday, September 13 the Mavericks will host University of North Dakota in the 2003 home opener. All RMAC Pre-season selections went to offensive lineman Brian Trautman (6-2, 300, Jr., Heritage High School). Defensive pre-season honors went to defensive tackle Hank Bevan (6-0, 245, Sr., Plateau Valley High School) and senior outside linebacker Chris Echols (6-0, 200, Broomfield High School).
