PCM Posted July 18, 2003 Posted July 18, 2003 And one shouldn't overlook the good job they did fertilizing the prairie. They're still doing it. Quote
MinnesotaNorthStar Posted July 21, 2003 Posted July 21, 2003 ........and the hooomme, of thhhheee, Siiooooooouuux!!!! Yeah, i do it everywhere too. I started hearing it from Gopher, and JBSU fans at the Final Five in 2001. The Thursday night game, as the national anthem came to a close, there was a loud Sioooux from the Sioux faithful in attendence. The next night, JBSU and Gopher fans started doing the same thing. It's nice that NDSUCKS can finally join us at the elite D1 level. Quote
WPoS Posted July 21, 2003 Posted July 21, 2003 MNS, just an FYI, it is NOT new to Gopher land...I have been doing it since 1987...along with everyone near me. WPoS Quote
BisonMav Posted July 21, 2003 Posted July 21, 2003 So far it's Late 1970's (1978), for North Dakota State using "Home of the Bison". Anyone hear it earlier than that? Quote
The Sicatoka Posted July 21, 2003 Posted July 21, 2003 I'm not sure if the origin I heard is urban legend or not: Supposedly " .... home of the Sioux!" started with some AIM folks who wanted to send a message about who was there first. The students then picked it up. The rest is history. I do know that it started in the early 1970s. Quote

Would be ironic if it was Russell Means that came up with the idea. Quote
The Sicatoka Posted July 21, 2003 Posted July 21, 2003 BisonMav: No, I believe it originated at UND. The AIMsters were up there for some reason (and we'll leave it at that). Quote
