bincitysioux
Even though we are not playing a conference schedule in Volleyball or Soccer this season, I thought it would be interesting to keep track of the records of the GWC members this season. VOLLEYBALL North Dakota 12-0 South Dakota 11-1 Houston Baptist 10-1 Texas-PanAm 3-4 Utah Valley 2-5 New Jersey Tech 2-6 SOCCER Utah Valley 4-0-1 Houston Baptist 4-1 South Dakota 3-4 North Dakota 3-5 New Jersey Tech 1-6 It should be noted that every game that Houston Baptist has played this season in both Volleyball and Soccer have been against DI opposition. Impressive. They are in the same transitional stage as UND. Soccer was mentioned as a sport that that the GWC would not sponsor, however they are giving out Player-of-the-Week honors so that is why I included it. Perhaps something has changed. bincitysioux
Alot has been made this season of NDSU's excellent point guard Ben Woodside (and rightfully so) and his affinity to putting the ball in hoop. But it should be noted that 2 of the nation's top 5 leading scorers play in the Great West Conference: 1. Stephen Curry, Davidson, 30.0 PPG 2. David Holston, Chicago St., 26.4 PPG 3. Josh Akognon, Cal-St. Fullerton, 25.5 PPG 4. Ben Woodside, NDSU, 24.7 PPG 5. Ryan Toolson, Utah Valley, 24.7 PPG* *It should be noted that Toolson's numbers are not included in the offical NCAA statistics because UVU is still a transitioning program.
