slulionsfan Posted May 31, 2008 Posted May 31, 2008 Hello Sioux fans...there's a long hot summer to go, and then some, before you guys make your way south to play us on September 27th, but thought I'd start a thread to stir up some conversation as we pass the time away. I know this will be your first year as a member of Division I but we have a great deal of respect for your program and realize we'll have to be at the top of our game to have a chance to win. Not sure how much any of you know about our school, our program or where we're located but if anyone's bored, here are some links for those interested in learning more. Hopefully you guys will bring a good following and have a good time in south Lousiana. It'll still be Hurricane season in late September, but hopefully we don't have a repeat of 2005 or anything remotely close to it. GeauxSioux Posted May 31, 2008 Posted May 31, 2008 I'm looking forward to the game in Hammond. It can't get here soon enough. Hopefully I can get most of my family to the game depending on the timeframe of the arrival of our 4th child. I went to a college graduation at the University Center about 5-6 years ago. Nice building. I didn't get a chance to see the football stadium, though. I echo your concerns about hurricanes. 2004 and 2005 were violent years along the Gulf Coast. Hopefully the lull in hurricane activity from last year continues. See you in Hammond slulionsfan. Quote

Not sure how much any of you know about our school, our program or where we're located but if anyone's bored, here are some links for those interested in learning more. Looked like your stadium is undergoing some refurbishment - adding suites and a new pressbox? The stadium was surrounded by campus buildings. I liked the potential atmosphere. It'll still be Hurricane season in late September, but hopefully we don't have a repeat of 2005 or anything remotely close to it.Lord, let us hope not. For ND residents, was going to suggest flying Frontier out of Fargo and then into Baton Rouge, but Frontier just dropped Baton Rouge as a destination. Otherwise, to avoid two hubs, the best options are probably GFK to New Orleans via NW or FAR to New Orleans via United. From MSP, AirTran would probably offer the best rates, and it flies into New Orleans, Gulfport (gambling), and Pensacola (beaches). Quote

It's small by FCS standards (7,500 permanent, just under 10,000 with temp bleachers in endzones) but an excellent place to watch a football game. The stands are steep and close to the field so you feel like you're right on top of the action.
