  1. Personally I am excited to see the Gophers. I didn't really want the Sioux to have to beat Duluth for the 6th time this year. Minnesota looked great tonight and they will come out firing when the X is rocking with all them city folk. I think the Sioux are the far better team though. Briggs looked awfully shaky those first couple periods and it only gets more intense and more nerve racking for the little freshy. Look for the Sioux to light it up early and never look back.

This game is revenge for having to watch those measily Gophers win two straight NCAA championships.

I love your enthusiasm for your team, though you better watch it, some might accuse you of arrogance.

  2. Yes I did, I had many beers tonight. Each one tasted great. I am still not convinced that Minnesota is going to the Frozen Four. Not with their goaltending. If tonights game proved anything it, it proved that UMD has peaked and has goaltending issues.

Somebody has to be there to play the Sioux. If the Gophers play with the fire they displayed in the final 2 periods tonight (hitting everything, winning battles to the puck and moving the puck crisply) I like their chances. Outshot UMD 20-6 in the third when they already had a lead. I think thats telling and can overcome their warts.

  3. I can't wait for tomorrow night when 15,000 Gopher fans are quite after the Sioux put a whooping on them for the Broadmor Trophy.

Were you taking sips from the hair tonic too.

  4. MN keys in my humble opinion.

    1. Don't dink around with the puck in the defensive zone. In other words, get the puck out of the zone whenever possible. Three of UMD's goals were a direct result of poor clearing by MN.

    2. Get traffic in front of UND net/goalie - Score ugly & shoot often.

    3. Remain calm. When MN starts running - especially in the d-zone - around it's all over for them.

    May I add:

    4. Get off to a fast start. I don't think we can come back against the Sioux like we did against the Dogs tonight.

  5. It was posted on USCHO that RJ Anderson of Centennial gave a verbal to UM. :silly: This has been posted here as well, but I had hoped he would see the light and go to UND!

It's on Heisenberg's site now. Apparently he called The Don monday morning.

  6. CC beats AA on Thurs. Loses to Sioux on Friday. Beats the Rodents for third place on Saturday and gets a bid. GUARANTEED. :silly:

Are you sure you weren't drinking the hair tonic when you made this prediction?

  7. Is Hill going to start King tomorrow? Last week he started his other goalie for the 2nd game. I realize that last week he had the luxury of knowing there would be a third game. I suggest he start King(where they may have a slim chance), otherwise there is no chance of a third game.

  8. I think there is a bit of difference between college level and pro level. The Pro's can make it much more effective than college. Too many possible break outs in college from misques...

    WPoS

Not to mention the Pro's can't cherry-pick at the far blue line, remember how many long breakouts UMN had in their sweep of UW.

  9. I am hoping for a Dogz win. I would never cheer for the Goofies, I don't care what the circumstance. Does anyone know if Brosz is playing for UMD or is he still out? The last thing I want is for the Goofies to get a # 1 seed. I am confident this is our year.

I guess I am more PRO-WCHA than anti any team within it. In the NCAA I will be cheering for all WCHA teams, I want everyone to know how dominant our conference is. If Minny doesn't win it, I hope UMD does, and then UND and even the Red Menace. Don't get me wrong, I love the rivalry's and will obnoxiously cheer for my team, but IMO when we cheer against each other it's taking it too far.

  10. I'm sure the league would love to have all 5 games televised, but I suspect that the league accepts the St. Paul group (FSN) bid because it's the only legitimate network bidding on it. The contract probably allows FSN to televise whatever games they feel like. Like I said earlier in the thread, I'm sure Victory Sports would love to have the Final 5 contract (but nobody wants them until they're picked up by the cable/dish providers). Once Victory Sports gets picked up by the cable/dish providers, hopefully bidding will become more competitive and the league will receive comprehensive bids and all 5 games will be televised in the future.

This is a first, a positive ramification of Victory Sports being launched. For the future it would be nice if the competition meant we all would see every Final Five and NCAA Regional playoff game.

  11. All Fighting Sioux home games are carried regionally on the Fighting Sioux Sports Network. FSSN is carried by Midcontinent and other cable companies in NW MN and North and South Dakota.

FSSN also tries to pick up as many feeds from road games as they can. This season they had the Saturday UMD game and a few others.

All that aside, this is the league playoffs. Showing both semi-finals is only right.

You're telling me that Fox Sports North is getting better ratings with this line-up?

    2:00 PM NBA Action '03-'04

    2:30 PM Big 12 Showcase '03-'04

    3:00 PM On Campus '03-'04

    3:30 PM 54321

4:00 PM Spinks vs Mayorga at Boardwalk Hall (rerun from Sunday night)

The "money" issue for a Friday afternoon semi-final is a canard. The cameras are there already from Thursday. If you're really cheap just insert the league webcasters' voices or go with no announcers at all. Just turn the cameras on.

Thank you for the background on Sioux regular season telecasts. Sounds like FSSN is what MSC used to be to the Twin Cities.

Again, I want all the Final Five games to be shown. My point in this is that I think Fox is only concerned in televising the Gopher games. In years past (and I could be wrong) the #4/#5 game was not shown simply because the Gophers weren't in it. IMO Fox scheduled it this year because it looked like the Gophers would be playing in it. Right or wrong I think Fox (or the St.Paul group) cater to the Twin Cities market.

  12. It's great for the WCHA and it's fans when highly skilled players are signed. It not only makes the hockey great to watch, it also helps in winning non-conference games and raising the league's RPI. It looks like Minny, UND, Wisco and UMD will be loaded for a while. Speaking of loaded, where has UMD Dogz been hiding lately? :glare:

  13. I can totally understand why UND fans are mad they can't watch their team on tv. I will be feeling your pain in the regionals. (Thanks Victory) The WCHA and Fox are simply catering to the #13 market. It's the same reason why ESPN televises the Rangers, Islanders, Flyers...etc more than the Thrashers, Predators, and Wild. Satisfying the biggest market and generating the most $$$$$.

How angry would you be if the Goph's were in the afternoon game and Fox televised it but not the night game with the Sioux? It's all about $$$$
