  1. Sorry, but I was asked to avoid sharing the details. The parent I talked with isn't being vindictive, just sharing his son's experiences with different schools both during the courting process and when he called to inform them of his decision. I'd be breaking his confidence if I shared that.

No worries, I was just curious being I know a few of the coaches on the staff.  I would be really disappointed if it was one of them, because that doesn't sound like anything they would say

  2. Very true. I just find it odd how they suspend a punter indefinitely for trying to break into a car before he is tried in court, but yet other players in the past got a game or nothing at all for more serious charges. Makes a difference when it's not Bohl and Taylor in charge of the punishments. But you have a point he wasn't a starter so why not give him the axe.

this was a felony.  What was the petition fraud?

  3.

The Wyoming game will be played at elevation 7000 feet. Who the starting defensive players are may not be much more than a formality as a steady rotation of players may very well be needed.

I forgot about that.  It is a huge advantage, and not to be underestimated.  I know in 2008 when we went, we did not have oxygen on the sideline, even though most visiting teams do.  It wasn't so much the ability to breathe, but my legs felt like I had cinder blocks tied to them in the fourth quarter.

  4.

You're not understanding what he's saying.  Obviously he know's NDSU players have plenty of games they'll remember for the rest of their lives, he's not dumb.  He's simply referring to the UND/NDSU game as "a contest" they will never have memories of.

    ahh... I see your clarification.

So how do you ndsu folks feel about your kicking game?

kicking is an unknown. punting will be a strength.  our punter is an all american

  5.

Jirik and Smith are both on record saying they wish they could have played in a UND/NDSU game.  Those comments came unprovoked with any questioning or prodding from anyone about the rivalry.

Are you saying that the players wouldn't have rather played UND over Incarnate Word, Weber State, Ferris State, Delaware State, Robert Morris, Prairie View A&M, etc?

I told Gene the one team I wish we would have played is UND also.  I am glad the game was scheduled.  I would rather play UND than any of the teams listed, and I'm pretty sure many of the players on the team now would also.

What I originally said was Schlossman states in the article that  "The players lost by never being able to play in a contest that they would remember for years." -- I think the players will remember for years many of the playoff games and even some regular season games.

It was a good opinion article.

  6. It's a very nice opinion article.  I have a couple criticisms

Schlossman says "The players lost by never being able to play in a contest that they would remember for years."

--I am going to speculate that if he were to interview some of the Bison football players, they would not think they lost out playing a contest they would remember for years.

--Why not interview a couple players and coaches about how they "can't wait" for this game if he is going to make that statement?

  7. is that referring to financial aid (a loan for tuition from the school that needs to be paid back)?  or is that referring to a student-athlete getting scholarship money for summer classes?

because in 2008 I was told I needed to pay for my summer classes myself, so I applied for financial aid and took out a loan.  My situation could have been different?? IDK??

  8. no scholarship covers any expense during the summer.  That means they must pay for housing and food for themselves. It also means if they choose to take summer classes instead of work they must pay for tuition.

    I know first hand.
