Anyone do online sports betting? I don't but if the odds of us winning are 5000/1 I want to throw $20 down. I have spent $20 in way dumber ways so I figure why not.

I use oddsmaker.ag, they have UND...

odds of winning the championship:  1 to 1000 (meaning bet $1 to win $1000)

odds of winning the regional:  1 to 500

odds of winning vs. Arizona:  11 to 10 with the line at +17pts.

why didn't bubba use his last timeout??? all american return man back there....

My first thought was that he was saving the time out so he could ice the kicker... so then I was surprised when he didn't call time out before the ball was snapped for the field goal.

Now my thought is he wanted to have the time out to make Richmond think he was going to ice the kicker and then by not taking the time out, try to throw them off rhythm.

Doesn't the FCS committee try to avoid opening round conference match-ups? That would keep UND out of that situation.

The committee will not pair up two schools that have played each other in the regular season for the first round of playoffs.  They can, and have in the past, paired up teams from the same conference that did not play in the regular season.  The second round is fair game when it comes to rematches.

UNI at #3 is ridiculous.  Their best win is against Iowa state who is 1-8.  And UNI at #3 unfairly boosts the rest of the MVFC.  hard to believe anyone would take Sagarin  ratings seriously.

It's funny that so many conferences use this rating in their tie breaking procedures for the Auto-bid (not sure how many actually use it, but I know Big Sky and Missouri Valley both do)

Craig Haley was tweeting that this is very possible this year. The Big Sky had a better out of conference year than the Valley did. MVFC still had a nice year, especially with FBS games, but BSC had a nice year, especially head to head with MVFC teams.

MVFC had a OOC record against FCS of 14 - 5 with 4 wins against FBS, and a 3-4 record vs. Big Sky teams.

Big Sky had a OOC record against FCS of 10-4 with 1 win against FBS, and a 4-3 record vs. MVFC teams.

I see the Big Sky has one win more head-to-head win against MVFC, but the OOC success is not THAT much better than MVFC

The thing is, UND doesn't need them to do any favors regarding league membership.  We have a league.  A great league with great members.  A far superior conference to the Summit/MVFC.

Far superior?  Not in athletics. Maybe scenery at member sites.

ok, I'll start it. I think we all know whose MVFC logo he was wearing....

You sure you want to start the speculation?  Because I'm sure eventually it will come out which logo was on the back pack, and you will look brilliant or foolish.

Keep in mind, although it's easy to draw the conclusion that whatever athletic department had something to do with this, there isn't any proof and just as easily could be a coincidence

OK bud.  You guys have the most hateful fans ever when it comes to UND.  My gawd.

NDSU fans?  There are many that need help. There should be a shrink on duty at the fargodome every Saturday in the fall

Its okay to dislike NDSU atheltics - I certainly do not care for them one bit. It seems they are starting to come up with some new (although they've been around forever) recruiting tactics to keep themselves on top and it is pissing off other coaches and fans. Is it fun rooting against NDSU? Well, of course not nearly as entertaining and meaningful as supporting UND, my alma mater; however, watching NDSU lose is always an added bonus. It brings the arrogant pricks and bandwagon fans of that university back down to Earth a bit, and I look forward to NDSU losing some during the 2016 football season.

I agree with you. cheering against a sports rival is what makes sports in America great and Xanax sales will plummet every week NDSU loses.

Getting back to recruiting.  Im curious what these new tactics NDSU is using?  Do you know anything other than what you saw in an obscure tweet from a GA?

This has nothing to do with respecting him as an individual. He sounds like a good enough kid and I'm sure he is.  Lincoln made a decision unfortunately and my personal opinion is, nice not to know you.  This has to do with my hatred for the school to south that he immediately jumped on board with.   Anyone associating themselves with that school has earned my fuc¥ you button.  This may come across as brash..... and well,  it is!!!   Time to move on

    Little side note:

Bubbas moral compass is top shelf quality,  a true class act.  He is a complete straight shooter that absolutely bleeds Kelly green!!  He's not going to fill the recruit with bs and lies, that's not how he runs his show.   I have spoken with him numerous times and he literally goes out of his way to come over, shake hands and talk some football or life in general. He doesn't know me yet he's interested enough to listen to me blab on and on.  I played college ball (not und) and it would of been an honor to play for a coach like him.   He's fully invested in this university and his kids.  I would hope most families of these kids and the kids themselves recognize this.  As long as you do your part, Bubba will go to bat for you anytime.

    Family faith football

Why so much hatred for NDSU? It seems your hatred goes far beyond an in state sports rival, that you pre-judge "anyone associating themselves with that school".  If something happened to you to fill you with that much hate, maybe find someone to help talk you through.

winning a "natty" in fcs is probably easier than winning the mid-con title imo...

I need to get in on this thread before it's locked...

Winning the FCS championship is so easy, UND has done it 0 times...

UND fans in a UND Chat Room should be able to talk about whatever they want without having a troll butt in and contradict, question or defend what is being talked about. It's a site for UND fans

Yes it is for UND fans, but not ONLY for UND fans.  If you want this site to be ONLY for UND fans, talk to the mods and owners to start restricting access.

I guess that would be another way to solve the issue with all the NDSU "trolls".  Don't allow anyone to view the forms just members, and have a strict vetting process to make sure people that sign up are truly UND fans.  That would solve the issue.

The first two comments are what started the whole thing. Do you see any slight towards Mays in geaux_sioux's comments? Because I don't but in a continued quest to defend the FargoU name on the internet and make sure to feel slighted, a known troll jumped in with a comment.

I think they are actually a pretty good comparison, height challenged LB's from small schools and I've seen the comment more than once. Mays is probably 1-2" taller but Ratelle's pro day numbers were actually quite a bit better than Mays:

40 time: 4.54 vs. 4.7 or 4.87 (depending on which source you use)
    Bench: 36 vs. 21
    Broad Jump: 9'10" vs. 9'3"
    Vertical Jump: 36" vs. 33 1/2"

I can agree that geaux_sioux's sole purpose was not to "taunt or generate anger".

I often read on this site, how much some UND fans wish NDSU "trolls" would stop derailing every thread and mentioning the bison.

let me suggest, if some UND folks stop initially bringing up NDSU, like in geaux_sioux's post, the NDSU "trolls" would stay away (maybe).  It would be interesting to arbitrarily go back and look at past threads, and identify the first person that mentions NDSU to see if it is a UND fan or an NDSU "troll".  I wonder what the percentages would be...

anyways, back on topic.  The numbers are pretty crazy... if that is any type of a predictor for NFL career, Ratelle will have a solid future in the league.

He was trying to be a prick about it. I'll just lay his argument out since it is obvious where he's going: All student have to pay the activity fees regardless, yet if students want to go to men's hockey games they have to pay even more. It is "unfair" to those who don't buy the tickets, since they are still contributing to fund athletics but not getting the perk of men's hockey games.

It's a dumb argument but it is the one he's trying to make. There is a premium on men's hockey tickets, it is what it is and it has been that way since the new REA opened up. However, even excluding men's hockey, UND still offers more athletic events for students to attend free of charge compared to NDSU. Considering NDSU athletics was shot down hard on their attempt to raise student fees (0 for, 7 against, 2 abstaining, 1 absent), I wouldn't be surprised if something similar happened with football tickets in Fargo.

Nodak651 is correct, I was being facetious.  I found it funny that fgoSioux said:

It's wrong to go after the students IMO at any school.

when UND is doing the same thing in a different way.  I'm not trying to make an argument, and I agree that hockey tickets have a premium.  I am paying student fees right now, and paying extra for hockey games if I want to go, and I'm fine with it.

I'm not sure what the contingency plan was for NDSU, but I wonder if charging students for the tickets is part of that contingency.

why would NDSU go to the students for this?  All they would have to do is increase their ticket prices with the demand they have.   It's wrong to go after the students IMO at any school.   They are getting killed with the cost of College as it is.

Yeah... instead of increasing student fees they should just charge the students for tickets like UND does for hockey

  16. I don't understand why so many people on this board care what happens to Dupree.  He quit the team then wanted to come back after he realized he made a bad decision.

Did something else happen, like breaking the law,  or a school violation??

  17. Hambone, I agree with what clenz is saying, the ratings are a joke, and don't matter.  I find it funny that he uses the amount of offers from other schools as a measure of how good the player in his example is, because that really doesn't matter either.

  18. Why does everyone on this board care so much what NDSU is asking their students for??  Keep in mind the students will be voting on the increase.

I think everyone is upset simply because NDSU athletics will be getting more money.

You can say the reason you are upset is because NDSU is lying, but 1.) That is speculation,  and 2.) There are other things to be more upset over.  Like Manitowoc County Sheriff's that are lying ;) For all of you that like a good protest, there is one currently happening.

So are we talking current Slummit teams or all Slummit teams since we have moved up because that revolving door has been spinning like crazy since we moved up in 2008, if it's the latter than we have more than 4 wins.

It's difficult to believe until you see it with your own eyes.  Men's Basketball @ UND has not done well against Slummit teams in DI.  This should probably be discussed in a different thread, and like others have said, it is one sport in the Slummit.

But if they come on this forum and expect us to kiss their a$$, they are wasting their time. This is a UND Discussion Forum, NOT Bisonville. The Fargo Forum may have co-opted the print media in Grand Forks, but this is still a 100% University of North Dakota oriented web site.

Then the mods should lock this thread which is titled "Non-UND FCS Thread"
