My idea was completely independent of that of an EXTINCT, as you said, NHL franchise. Meaning it no longer exists. So it is free to be used, and we are as far north as Minnesota. Our state even includes the word "North". As for your criticism on the color, color of what something actually may be or appear to be is totally non-relevant when relating to school colors. We could keep our school and uniform colors we have.

I was there last night and agree, most of the attendees feels it should stay, but at the same time feel some forward thinking and movement is necessary. I am a supporter to keep the Fighting Sioux nickname, or at least the Sioux, and will always refer to myself as a Sioux fan and alumnus no matter what happens with the UND nickname and logo process. That being said, I feel the name North Dakota North Stars would fit in as a successor to the Fighting Sioux nickname. It can't offend anyone in any way and relates to our state, North Dakota, and the University as a strong leader in academics, athletics, and geologic location. We are the Force of the North, the "North Stars"! Any thought?

I would personally like to see us become a force to be reckoned with in the BSC before any move to the FBS level. How can we justify moving up already without having any success at the FCS level yet?
