  1. I am not sure, but wasn't the deal with that he just wasn't good enough?

He also had an attitude problem around the locker room and thought he was bigger than the university. Good riddance from what I heard!

  2. UND didn't receive an invite because they cancelled the Summit League's visit.  In the history of the Summit League, there has not been a single instance where they haven't extended an invite after a campus visit.  That might not normally carry a lot of weight, but when it comes from a league that has had 30 different members in its 33 year history (not even counting affiliate members), it is pretty obvious that UND was going to get one and made a decision between the two.

The SL is similar in resemblance to the Great West conference...just a stepping stone and easy conference to help badgered egos grow...

  3. Seriously, fs4l, is it that hard to understand? It's the same reason parents don't name there kids Jack Jackson, Eric Ericson, or Martin Martin. Is it THAT complicated?

    Let's try this:

    Southern Utah University Southern Utes

University of North Carolina North Heels

University of of South Florida South Bulls

Do any of those sound dumb? Because they are.

This is a horrible example...please find better university nicknames with an actual logical name to compare to.

At least North Stars is an actual symbol versus Southern Utes, North Heels and South Bulls...you wouldn't use South Stars as that is not an existing symbol.

There would be nothing wrong with using North Stars...its simply yours, Sicatoka's and maybe a few others opinions that think it couldn't work.

As I've stated before...I don't care if Minnesota is the North Star state or used the name before...it's not in use anymore and would be fair game IMO

  4. And you think Jones and his staff are smart enough to do that?  Cashman has been better than Shanks all year.  But Jones continues to play Shanks.  Only after we were our rebounded for the 5th or 6th consecutive game by double digits did Jones finally decide to put him in.  Stuff like this is why there needs to be change to a coach who can make adjustments.  Not just in game, but in season,

Agreed. Jones just refuses to do the right thing during games. He pulls players from games as they are heating up...makes no sense to take out a player after he's scored the past 6 points like he did pulling Shields out of the game last Tuesday...only for Nash and Tyler to come in and give up the big lead. Jones' game time decisions make no sense and are very frustrating to watch. Just the way he carries himself before, during and after games makes me call for a change at head coach. He does not have respect or response from his players. They do not improve in the 4 years they are here. His relationship with the players in minimal. There is no cohesiveness or brotherhood between the players (there is probably 3 cliques on the team). Granted the players do play hard and want to win, they just done have the glue to form a team and play as a team vs. noon-ball play. I believe the lack of character from the team and lack of cohesiveness is on the head coach. He must make those changes in order to form a program worth playing for and as a fan, cheering for and supporting!

  5. So in 3 years he produced 4 "HS" recruits: 1 home run, one that doesn't play yet, one transfer, and one that will never be more than a role player (Cashman).

But now he is supposed to get 3 MORE years to fix his mistakes in recruiting, after being the coach for 9 years?

I thought recruiting was supposed to get better after the transition and nickname issues were gone.

Cashman will not just be a tole player. He might even fight Shanks for a starting spot of Shanks can't get his head on straight. Down the stretch Cashman was playing much better than Shanks and is only an inch or two shorter.

  6. Shanks 0 points again and Tyler 0 points. That sums it up. This team plays everyone very tough but continues to lose. Time to get next years players more time and experience.

Next years players are already playing and gaining experience. Nash is the only senior getting playing time...

  7. Sounds like everyone practiced yesterday so I would anticipate at least 1-2 Cagguila highlight reel goals this weekend.  ;)

That's right, I did read that somewhere above. Let's hope so! On Saturday night I mentioned to my gf how Cagguila's fancy goal scoring has been absent...bout a minute later I got put in my place with that goal from his back side. Maybe I need to keep making these comments and more goals/play making will follow! :D

  8. I see us going into their barn and coming away with 6 points. Our D-men are playing great and will continue with Stetcher leading the way. Not sure if Cagguila will be playing after hearing he was walking around with crutches, but I feel a lot of goals will be scored this weekend. Would like to see Poolman get back on the board. Gaarder is definitely in need to a goal as well.

  9. Can't wait for the season to be underway! Looks to be another improving year under Bubba. Hope we fair well against Wyoming to get some experience for the younger guys before Sept 19th...

  10. as any intelligent person knows ...Physical strength, jumping ability, position, speed/quick and random movement of the ball off the rim/backboard have a lot  to do with rebounding.  UND really tall with hooker, terrel, estan in the starting 5 ya think these guys are 6'5"?  ....3 of the top 4 rebounders in the Big Sky go 6'4" ,6'4" and 6'6"  yup they are some really tall college basketball players dominating the boards on the Big Sky. Facts over fiction

    Bolomboy is 6'9" not 6'4"

  11. Tonight was yet another example of the more talented team just "ballin'", playing undisciplined and getting out coached.

Seems like Jones has a handle on things though..........

This is the first head coaching job for Montana's head coach I should add to your getting out coached comment...not good

whew that was a lot of coaching there...possibly more than Jones does during the game :p

  12. Check this out from Kolpack today...http://bisonmedia.areavoices.com/?p=91979

I especially thought this was funny.."On that note, I’m further convinced NDSU’s days of scheduling a winnable FBS game are over. The Mid-American Conference has long not answered a 701 area code. I think you can add the lower division teams of the power conferences, too. It took awhile, but they finally figured it out: in this day and age of the spread offense, there are not many physical teams out there anymore and that matchup is something FBS schools want no part of. You can’t blame them. Moreover, that’s only going to drive the price up of a guarantee to another FCS school. They know NDSU’s options are probably limited."

  13. Not necessarily would it have to be Roman... could attempt to make it our own "Northern Legion"; "NoDak Legion"... I just think the name has an edge to it and has some conviction which I hope the new nickname carries those traits. I would like for someone who doesn't know about UND to say "they have a badass name and logo." Something worth cheering for.

    This^^^^^

I still think it should be something that can kill a bison!  :p
