I don't know about D1 basketball, but as of 2013 he was the lowest in the Big Sky and the only one not making more than $100,000.  By that time, his teams had already finished 3rd and 2nd in the conference.  Hoops44's point, that you continuously gloss over, is that UND's return for investment has been very high.  Especially when you compare it to other coaches across the NCAA and Big Sky.

You are 100% correct .Jones still the lowest paid D1 HC.  Return foR investment has been outstanding......If Mens basketball was the UND marquee winter sport not a distant 2nd and Jones was getting close to top dollar...then there is a beef with his job.  Weber st has killer facilities the coach makes 400k  12000 seating chair backed arena ..Mens Hoops is the signature sport for them.  UND athletics is not talking the talk or walking the walk when it comes to mens basketball being a priority.  If UND gets the BSC title Jones very likelywill be the first lowest paid D1 coach in theNCAA to ever win a conference title

  2. Its like any commodity..  I guy buys a brand new corolla for 15k and I say that's a great/unbelievable deal on a solid basic automobile...and darryl/ beaver l says  geez wally thats not a good deal because a Toyota Avalon is a much sweeter ride....first guy says I got a Unbelievable deal  I mean I got a steal on this car for 15 large for a 20K car  plus thats in my budget and I cannot afford to or rather not spend 35 grand for an Avalon .   Then darryl/beaver says geez wally are you saying that if you paid 35 thousand for that Corolla it would be like a Avalon.....Wally says no darryl/beaver all I said is I got a FANTASTIC deal on my Corolla

With those yearly first round exits in the CIT? :silly:

I will spell it out for you...Lowest Paid Coach in league and NCAA correlates to a team finishing near the bottom of his league....well guess what Jones got UND in the top half of the league 3 of last 4 years and therefore an intelligent rational person could see he more than earned his last place in BSC salary.

Who is pissing and moaning?  Silence is deafening....you are a piece of work.  Sorry we aren't all as sharp as you on your basketball knowledge.

I do understand RPI, bad losses are a major factor as is SOS. Avoiding one or two bad losses might move you up high enough in the RPI to avoid play in games. The big exposure comes with challenging or even beating one of the big teams.  Avoiding the play in game and the #1 seeds is a huge step in doing that. Just ask the Bison.  Beating Oklahoma and giving Kansas a game are why people around the country noticed them.

Other than Weber st any BSC should be thrilled to make the big dance....Not complain

  5. still does not matter with respect to getting NCAA or NIT bid...Nobody said it does not affect RPI ...which by the way if you knew what you were talking about is influenced by who you play not just getting wins....when was the last time you showed up on a basketball other than to piss and moan??? the silence is deafening

Was thinking of this question last night about Geno.

Say he stays healthy and continues to improve/progress as a player.  Does he leave UND as its all time leading scorer?

from an apples to apples perspective / as D1 team Huff will be tough to beat out ...he played in more games his first 2 seasons but only 25 games as jr...Geno has to balance running the team as well as scoring plus he loses minutes with foul trouble and the Summit league will be a step up... pretty sure he will be the all time leader at the D1 level in combined points/assists an steals with room to spare

    http://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/bracketology

ESPN Bracketology that was released today has UND as a #16 seed (play-in game  vs. Mount St. Mary - Winner facing Villanova)

nice win at Summit league leader NDSU....might get them past the play in game...Looks like 6 teams have a shot to win the BSC tourney this season...Every team out there has games they lost but wish or think they should  have won....NDSU fans are probably whining about the home loss to UND.  Wins and Losses happen ...nothing noteworthy there

Just curious how many D1 offers Geno had? I don't recall any at least being reported. Collins is a solid defender and an athletic freak. Will never be a gamebreaker but a solid contributor. I really like what I've seen from Brown in small flashes. Give him time, he could have really used a redshirt year though. As far as the incoming recruits, they are all having good years. Why don't we give them an opportunity to prove themselves here?

Geno had no competing D1 offers...He did grow 3 inches after his junior year , did not start full time until a senior, played with Anim at Marquette, Travis at Stanford and Gopher recruit Jarvis Johnson ... He was a a great find by coach former UND Ahelegbe and credit Jones for signing off on him...classic under the radar kid young for his grade, late growth spurt, played with a bunch of high major kids in highschool .he probably would have picked up some D1 offers if he had waited and signed in the spring.. Collins is not terribly quick, awful shooting form, jumps high but not quick off his feet....Seales is not a leaper like Josh but Cortez is a much quicker jumper.  Buchanan from Illinois looks promising and probably would have picked up a D1 offer elsewhere.....Franken  from Iowa did not even get a Drake offer came off the bench for his AAU team had offers from Souix Falls and Dordt...Moody had Weber St and NDSU  look at him but both passed....I have no problem taking a flyer on an in state kid, but UND needs to pick up the pace on recruiting right now or they will be be a bottom feeder in the Summit...and you do not pick up recruiting by have a head coach with one year contract
