Paul BiancardiBasketball Recruiting
A good recipe to win a conference tournament. Here are the most important ingredients. 1-Are you heathy? (both physically & mentality) 2. Be hot ( confidence & momentum) 3. If team chemistry is absent school is over. 4. Look for leadership. Best teams have strong leaders. 5.Ability to make consecutive scores & stops

Looks like it is going to be UND/PSU round III
at least N AZ made them work for it. Hopefully baldwin and hooker break out of their 3pt shooting slump of the last 3 games

Garret Franken 6'7 wing fwd prospect for Atlantic Iowa wrapped up his prep career as they fell to top rated Waverly 58-45 . Franken game leading scorer for game bagged 21 points on 14 shots along with 5 boards, 3 dimes and a game leading 4 steals... Prep scout out of Iowa indicated to me that Franken has a nice skill set for length and should be a productive player for UND by his 3rd year in system as in red shirt soph year...also the kid has been a stock raiser in the last year

“I’m just playing bad,” Telfair said. “It’s nothing anyone is doing. I’ve played against every defensive scheme you can think of. I’m just not playing well. When they throw a scheme at me and it works, they think they got me figured out. The way it looks, they do got it figured out but really, it’s just because I’m not playing well. That’s no one’s fault. That’s my fault.” Telfair mans up does not blame coaches or team mates

Yeah that makes sense!
investment/wagering odds on teams to win the BSC tourney...for every dollar bet on weber return is 215% if the win....Surprised to see Weber this big of a fav relative to the others

Big Sky basketball is as bad as it gets. Being near the top doesn't mean a damn thing.
then why don't you get lost and do yourself a favor....BSC hoops so meaningless as you say

UND does. And they love it. Postseason baby!
und does not have to go....If the AD was so worried about buying out last season of Jones contract he could have saved a few bucks by turning down CIT...and brought in better coach who could recruit with a multi year contract....your narrative about about Jones is completely lame

At least UND doesn't have to go to the CIT this year.
nobody has to go to CIT.....

Any of the great basketball minds out there...
Did Hooker get screwed out of the MVP, or did Wiley deserve it over him?
Not really ...The BSC usually gives it to a guy on the top team but not always....still surprised they gave it to a Hayford one and done ringer vs 4 year guy hooker

Jones has done UND extremely well...Top bang for the buck coach in the BSC !!! Very competive BSC team for bottom dollar...nothing to complain about unless you happen to be insane

If you care to send my a private e-mail, I will gladly do so.
zero percent chance of what you said being true...last few years Jones has out performed most BSC coaches...furthermore i can provide quotes from other coaches referring to und as being well coached ...To think other coaches sit around and hope that a coach does not get canned because he has won more games than they have is asinine

By Saturday team depth will factor in big time for teams who played on Tuesday ...if they are still around gotta believe a top 5 seed will take it. Looks to me UND has the shortest bench of top 5....collins and brown not doing anything as of late. I have a hard time believing that Brown is better than RS Juco Kinsey...If Kinsey was that bad why RS him and keep him on the payroll for 3 years instead of 2...Not like he is a Big who needs to add strength

Although we have had a very nice year thus far (I am very proud of the team), I don't think Jones has any leverage. He was told last spring that he would have been let go if not for the budget crunch. Jones does not have the reputation of being a good coach - other BSC schools have continued to hope that we retain him as we have had good talent in the past few years with so-so results. In other words, I don't think ADs around the country have a great deal of confidence in his ability - especially after they would do their due diligence.
That said, if we make the Dance, Jones deserves an extension!
any evidence to support this drivel??? I did not think so

Unbelievable job lowest paid coach wins title...first time ever

always blame the coach instigators are a dime a dozen all bark no bite...get off on belittling others as a coping mechanism for their own shortcomings....Jones has been the best bargain high bang for the buck coach in the BSC for most of his BSC tenure...I am not thrilled with his last 2 recruiting classes however having a ton of production returning and a one year contract make it tough to recruit .

If Faison had given him a 1 year extension last summer, I'd say no. Now? It would approach it. If Faison likes Jones enough he needs to pay him enough to stay or give him more security. I'd say Jones played himself into a good situation where he might have earned himself a little more money than he would have. If he can't get it here, he probably would get it elsewhere.
I'm fully expecting him to be extended unless things totally go south.
What would be considered middle of on the conference salary wise? 125-150 K?
i believe so

Truth of the matter is Jones is going to get a significant pay bump. I think it will be in the ballpark of 3-4 years and about 150-170 K base + incentives. IMO, Faison's decision not to give him the 1 year CYA for recruiting extension has actually helped Jones in the fact that the next contract will give him more $$$$.
No chance he only gets a 1 year, and if he does.. I wouldn't be shocked if he went elsewhere and wouldn't blame him either
He is also going to get interest from other jobs should UND continue to be successful this year, I wouldn't be shocked if Drake took a look at him if they don't hire their interim coach full time.
Why am I saying this? It is because UND is going to be dancing.
If they make the dance Jones might get some looks from other schools maybe Drake U.. Jones has a better chance of getting canned than getting a one year contract.... Probably will get a 3 year deal putting him just off the bottom of BSC ... UND likely to be happy getting the Mens BB coach on the Cheap...If UND goes dancing than Jones gets bumped up to middle of BSC coaches

We saw what happened when Muss got his extension and Faison had enough and bought him out. He doesn't want a repeat. Also you say recruits don't like one year contracts but yet thats what they have in South Dakota and how many dance trips did SDSU have?
as usual you are a few years behind the curve as for your SD info ... AND There is a big difference between one year contacts by choice vs by rule of law....try doing your homework for once before you spout off

400k?? Weber may pay their coach close to that because to Weber basketball is their #1 sport. Men's basketball is roughly in the 3 to 4 spot battling with women's basketball.
Jones has 19 wins this season the most since the 2010-11 season, 14 conference wins the most ever, so this is the greatest season (SINGULAR) ever in his 11th seasons at UND. He loses one of the greatest players ever to be at UND, will the team keep up the same hype next season? I think for winning the regular season give him a one year extension. Make it to the dance and extend his contract to include his first season into the Summit League. I would think UND, if given an extension, would give him a raise for winning the conference. No way its 400k, or else give Bubba a salary like Nick Saban for the job he did turning the football program around.
recruits love it when the coach recruiting them has one year left...outstanding idea darell

400k? That's over a 4-fold increase; makes little sense to quadruple the salary when one could remove the "less valued" and hire with double the salary. Also, quadrupling the salary is not plausible.
What does the mens Hockey coach make....Webers coach make 350K...You want the best program get the best coach!!! Sell out the Betty ...raise ticket prices, Build a new arena and become the Gonzaga of the Summit ....than maybe the chronic cry babies will be pacified
