1997-2016: 20 seasons, 11 frozen four appearances, and 3 titles

2017-2024: 8 seasons, 0 frozen four appearances, and 0 titles

Is North Dakota’s national tournament performances trending in the right or wrong direction here?

Hell, for two consecutive decades between ‘97-16, UND would more often than not being playing in the frozen four.  Now, we’re closing in a decade without even making it.

Berry can’t hack it. Everyone knows. Give it a rest.

I remember him getting A LOT of shots as a sophomore and he didn't deliver. Hindsight 20/20, of course. He had a good year. Where would he have slotted into this year? My guess is the team saw him bottom six and he didn't want it.

He's still bottom six. He’s gone for a reason.

Add MacDonald, subtract Benoit. Nothing against Benoit, I wish him the best, but I think we got better today. Both Sophomores.

What’s the scouting report on MacDonald? For those of us unwilling to watch game highlights of other teams…

Speaking of rural Minnesota culture, what's on the Angle up there on Lake of the Woods?   Any villages?   Rental cabins for fishing?  Sasquatch?

The golf course has been better than years past. Cabins to rent. Now the Marina, that’s a totally different can of worms…pizza was ok the last time I was there.

Ok who besides Blake could make one of those 4 top lines?

None of those top lines has guys entering the portal. So what’s your argument? Denver is working on their first National title with a first round pick in years. So what?

Strathmann daren't become Kleven 2.0. If he's getting sat by the USHL the NCAA will reopen Alcatraz for him.

Zellers, like I said last fall, is likely playing at the wrong level right now. Based on his DOB he should be with Emery, Laurilla, and the U18s.

Bring him in. He will be ready come tournament time.

I was curious about a couple of things, including the post that you quoted, as well as another that asked whether anyone has achieved less with more than UND.

If you look at the first round draft picks who played college hockey, all time, the numbers break down like this:

    Michigan - 33

    Minnesota - 26

    BC - 25

    Bu - 23

    UND - 20

    Wis - 18

    DU - 4

Yeah, that's right.  DU has four.

It's even funnier when you see how many some of these teams have had since they last won a national championship:  Michigan (27), Minnesota (19), BU (14), Wis (12), BC (11), UND (2), DU (0).  Now, one of these teams might very well win this year, with some first round picks on their team.  But it's pretty hard to say that UND has done the least with the most.

Are Bluuuuue Chipppppass first round picks  only? I don’t think anyone other than @gfhockey is saying we need two forward lines of first rounders. More 2nd and 3rd round picks would do just fine.

  8. This is getting a little out of hand. We all expected Berry to be big and better. Well, he’s definitely bigger than Hakstol, but not better.

I will say the staff did a solid job with a completely new defensive group. Why we had to be in that situation to begin with? That’s the real question that should be answered. Did we just have a couple bad years of recruiting? Flash in the pan. Bump in the road? Winning at the National stage is top priority every year, and Berry knows that.

I’m critical, but Berry is a grown man. He’s seen it all. I believe next season will answer a lot of questions, as to which direction this program is going. The Big and Hockey East is only getting stronger.

Well it’s sounding like it’s only a matter of time before wood commits to the gophs.

I think Bubs needs to go all in on that Wilkie guy. Big center that can win draws. Pt production is really good.

What is your source on this?

"Good morning, Jackson, how are you feeling today?"

"Well, I've been visiting ss.com again."

"Oh, my."  Pushes line 2 on phone:  "Marie, cancel my 10 o'clock; Jackson and I will need a little extra time today."

Why any of them would be on this site, is beyond me. Just focus on your game.

That’s the easy answer. Not sure it’s entirely accurate. I just watched a less talented QU scare the crap out of a super talented BC and almost bounced them from this years tournament. That truly was a bounce going one way to advance BC. Talent is good but it isn’t everything.

Q has a rigorous training schedule, and is obviously better coached. Idk man.

  12. Anyone have their hypothetical lineup sheet set? Assuming Blake is back and Gaber is gone.

    James-Omac-Kunz

    Perron-Berg-Blake

    Swanson-Jammer-Strinden

    Boisvert-Schmaltz -Montgomery

    Croal;Littler

    Livanavage-Zmolek

    Emery-Weibe

???????????? I have no clue as to what the rest of the lineup will look like.

    Throw Hedquist in, I guess.

I wonder what is in David Carle’s secret sauce that UND seems to be lacking? Anything Berry & Co. can learn from Denver? Opening Pandora’s box to replies with this one…

Talent. We are losing the recruiting battle.

Nah, I'm guessing that Pecknold is a screamer.  He's in the locker room yelling and throwing chairs.
    Helps motivate the players!

More like a Hakstol than a Berry type. He’s a hockey nerd. I’ve got nothing but respect for a guy that has built a program up from obscurity.
