My memory is a bit fuzzy but I could have sworn UMD only scored 1 goal in OT in that game…

Duluth alumni works for ESPN apparently.

I don't actually think Kunz is a grinder, he's just a big skill player.  Of course James is much faster, but I'm not sure he's any more skilled, in terms of hands and vision.  I also don't think it's a demotion so much as trying to assemble a checking line that can take on an opponent's best players.  I don't think Kunz could keep up in that assignment, but James can.  That's also the role where I think James can carve out an NHL career.

James is also a fantastic penalty killer. Everyone has a role to play. James will have his time to shine next year.

Just want to remind everyone the world was imploding on this message board almost a year ago to the day when we lost all of our Dmen. An 'NCAA team fighting for a Penrose' seemed optimistic back then(at least for some). We won the Penrose, we're in the NCAAs, might as well win 4 more measly games. Also LOL at including Emerson

I agree. Perspective is everything. Things didn’t look very good once the season ended.

The road to a Natty this year looks to be the most difficult of possibilities.  Start with Michigan then either State or Western to get out of the regional. That only gets you to potentially face BC then either BU or Denver in a final.   I LIKE IT!!!   Legendary stuff.

If they win it, I’d say it’s the most convincing championship team ever. If.

Those idiots could have just held up a sign that says we have no idea what we are talking about.

Bucci also said that Denver won the conference championship. Poor choice of words. They won the tournament championship, and not the conference. I’m a little salty over it.

  6. It is beyond stupid that those four teams will play in a sub 3,000 seat arena. College hockey is a laughing joke at this point. Embarrassing stuff from the ncaa.

Integrity, I don't even know what that means.  If earnestness means aggressive and attacking, then sign me up.

Unity/wholeness/pride/ play as lions… -_- and more so play with purpose/conviction. Should I find you a dictionary?

  8. Who cares where they go. Have to expect every one of these teams to be playing their best hockey. A lot of good teams this year. Win or lose, play with integrity and earnestness.

He is selfish and a defensive liability.

I wouldn’t say selfish. He’s definitely not a first line forward. He struggles late in games with his small frame and average speed. I’d roll the red carpet for him with a smirk on my face. A super senior that will score around 20 goals. His teammates seem to like him enough….

Why take his one dimension away from him on the power play.

Except we prefer to skate the puck around the zone on the outside.  Easy to defend, Defense just needs to shadow till the next player takes over.  We don't move the puck fast enough to matter, we always hold onto it.

Puck needs to move high to low. Yes puck speed is crucial. Good teams lay out to stop the one timers from outside. UND focuses too much on getting the puck to someone, instead of making quick passes to look for an opening.

The same goes for Berg. He does not demonstrate a 200 foot game in my opinion. Much has been made about the reason he left Omaha being little or no power playtime. I think it was more than that. I think he was being asked to do things that he did not wish to do. He saw an open door and he took it. He’s a good goalscorer don’t get me wrong, but I wouldn’t have considered him “Omaha’s best player”. I would put them in the same category as Jimmy Glynn a role-player to be sure, but not an All-Star.

He has been recognized by the NCHC for his defensive play, but I don’t disagree with you. He’s a Sioux fan, home grown, was needed for this team to be successful. Berg wasn’t pushed out though. I just don’t see that.

Got to load up 3 lines with your 9 best forwards moving forward.  Bottom 3 get a shift here and there. NCAA TV coverage allows one to stack the top 9.

Seems to be an effort issue. Guys taking turns being passengers. It’s very possible that lines just aren’t gelling. It’s obvious that Berry and co don’t know what to do either. The lines change every night and through each game.
