  1. Things you don't have a grasp on:

    1. The concepts of gross and net

    2. The concept of alumni and alumnus (multiple posters/personalities?)

    3. The history of the UND/NDSU football series

    4. What is and is not good for UND football

    1. I realize it very well. It is still a !@#!$ deal.

    2. I had a cousin and best friend who graduated with me in 2011. Represents a fantasy football team name that we have together. I get the concept very well.

    3. I get the history very well but it is apparent your fan base doesn't as the lines of what happened in 2003 are very skewed and blurred by your fan base. History did not mean jack !@#$ to you back then and you flushed away an annual rivalry game when it did not have to be.

    4. I understand what is best for UND football. Playing NDSU in order to hopefully win and start getting recruits. Bubba knows this.

  2. Boy what leadership you have there in Bubba. A guy who will get down on his knees and give a rival whatever they want.

I would be humiliated if I was an NDSU fan and accepted that offer. Definitely would not be enthusiastic if the guy leading my struggling football program would do something like this.

  3. Is it really that hard to see UND only wanted to play NDSU when the playing field was level?

Why did they play UNI in 2006 then? They were not on a level playing field. Why does UND schedule FBS teams when they are not on a level playing field? You guys are so dam two faced in your arguments. The scholarship debate the good for the state debate. All BS.

UND did not want to help NDSU in 2003 or 2004 and thought they would fail at D1 athletics. The time has turned and now you want to play NDSU to earn your credibility in recruiting battles. Nothing else could explain that desperate humiliating offer UND accepted from NDSU to play in 2015 and 2019. No football program who is on a level playing field, as you oh so frequently remind NDSU of, would accept a ludicrous offer like that other than a bottom feeder program trying to do whatever it can to rise up.

In 1981 and 1993, you did not have NDSU playing bitch to UND or UND playing bitch to NDSU like that. The gap now is far greater than it ever has been. You are throwing a Hail Mary with NDSU sitting there having nothing to gain.

  4. UND decided in the mid 2000's was best for the success of their program. Hardly anyone here critiquing that decision back then and you are still defending it now. I come on here and say NDSU not playing UND is best for the success of NDSU and I am a prick and clearly wrong.

I have gone back in sioux sports through 2010 and there was nowhere near this type of support from you guys for this game. Then all of a sudden 2011 happens and you think it is a travesty the game isn't happening on an annual basis. By 2014 you have a state legislature member, UND alum, pushing for the game to be law. Funny Hugh?

  5. LOL. Great example. One game that meant nothing emotionally to either side. If I was the one with 27 more schollies I would want to keep playing my biggest hated rival every year too.

But it still would have been good for the state right? And the people in the state still wanted it back then, right?

  6. ame="2011BisonAlumni" post="733110" timestamp="1414608516"]

How about that pesky little issue of 63 vs 36 schollies and adding jucos immediately, etc? Still fair right?

So what. Does UND refuse to play FBS teams due to scholarship differences? Also YOU PLAYED other FCS schools during the NDSU transition. 2006 UNI remember? Your greatest victory ever.

  7. The nickname issue has nothing to do with the MVFC saying no to UND. You are thinking Summit League.

Yes you are right on this. My mistake.

I have a hard time believing that the MV accepted USD so easily but would have turned down UND.

  8. Did NDSU ever propose a game after the rules changed? And there would still be potential reasons for not playing if you are at different levels with different numbers of scholarships. Schools play up against higher levels for big pay days. If you are playing home and home series then you don't get the big payday, and would probably have to turn down other opportunities for that pay day. If the schools are at the same scholarship level there are no reasons not to play the game, and that is the position I have held since the games were initially cancelled.

I have talked to many NDSU fans all over the state. The only ones that aren't eager for the games to resume are people that don't care about football. Even casual fans want the schools to play. The only place I've seen people that are against the games are when Bison fans complain on the internet. [/quote

Fact. Gene Taylor offered UND a four year home and home agreement in 2003. UND turned it down. Gene Taylor is on record in 2004 saying the offer was on the table.

Fact. In July 2004 Roger Thomas is on record with an interview with Patrick Reusse, stating that they will not play NDSU, with maybe the exception of baseball. This was after D2 playoff rules had changed.

UND ended the series. No question about it. Now you want it back because you think it is too important for the state? I guess your university did not think it was that important in 2003 or 2004.

  9. The only way you can become legit is playing NDSU, I'm sure Incarnate Word is taking that to the bank!! You are a delusional narcissistic prick. I know at least 50 NDSU fans.......not by choice but through business. And, I do a home and away with a few NDSU guys most years, like this year. I don't know 1 NDSU guy that is against playing UND every year. But I guess I hang out with real fans that are real men, which is more than I can say about you.

Look at the comments the IW coach made before the NDSU on what a win against NDSU would do for their program.

  10. The only way you can become legit is playing NDSU, I'm sure Incarnate Word is taking that to the bank!! You are a delusional narcissistic prick. Not delusional it is reality. When UND beat NDSU in the early 90's it turned the table for your program.

  11. Why don't you ask a Coyote fan that? Go on their board and ask them why they stopped playing you in all sports? SDSU had no problem playing us, even doing a home and home. They have class, you guys skip class.[/

Once the D2 playoff rules were changed there was no reason not to continue it.

  12. Is NDSU using more scholarships than UND? Are they playing at a higher level than UND? Or since UND is beating NDSU in other sports you are afraid UND will win in your #1 sport and sending Bisons football back down to earth with SDSU and USD.

UND beating NDSU will obviously help their program and hurt our program.

Why did UND refuse to play NDSU even when the D2 playoff rules changed?

  13. There was a very small majority of you on here in 2003 that wanted to continue the game. Your AD actually came out and publicly stated they would not continue playing NDSU due to the fact that it could negatively impact the success of their team.

I am stating the exact same argument that your AD made. Shouldn't be a problem for you to find reason in it.

  14. Darrell,

How old is your father in law? 75-80? Guess it would make sense.

I guess I would have a little bit more perspective on it since a.) I went to school at NDSU b.) actually attend NDSU games and tailgate and have talked to hundreds of fans about it. Your small sample size does nothing.

NDSU won't buy out the game. We can't even pay a D2 team that little amount of money to play us.

Goes to show how desperate UND is for that game. They agreed to the worst deal I have ever heard of in D1 football out of desperation to rekindle their program.

  15. ame="2011BisonAlumni" post="733040" timestamp="1414602750"]

I didn't know you polled the alumni and fans. What % was for it and against it. Margin of error was what? Was it a phone poll or email or snail mail or just on BV?[/quote

I believe there have been several polls conducted. The vast majority of alumni do not want it or are neutral. Walk around NDSU tailgating sometime and ask people. They don't want it.

  16. There is the attitude we've been looking for. That is why so many people have a problem with Bison fans. Can we put that on a billboard and quote you?

The State of North Dakota, with all of the revenue it has, is an embarrassment in terms of higher education funding, let alone athletics.

Every penny that goes into facilities is done through private donations. Hell the state won't even let UND and NDSU bond for athletic facilities.

The students, alumni, and teammakers members are the ones who make NDSU's athletic success.

  17. Espn exposure on a consistent basis? So what p5 conference are you guys joining? You get on Gameday and you think you are Alabama? I don't think the fans of Montana, App State and Marshall had this big of a head. Eat a Snickers BisonAlumni you get a little loopy when you get hungry.

NDSU gets mentioned almost every week on ESPN college gameday.

  18. The whole state would gain something from it. Have you ever watched the NFL films bit on the UND/NDSU rivalry. If not go ahead and google it, watch it, then see what you think about the game.

Yes I watched it. Times have changed. UND was once the game NDSU fans looked forward to. Well before we started playing FBS teams and winning FCS championships.

You guys want the game because you know beating NDSU is the fastest way to build your program. Nothing wrong in saying it.

If UND fans want the game so bad on a constant level, admit the Big Sky is not a good fit and petition the MV and SL for an invitation.

  19. Good take here. There is a perception among more casual football fans that NDSU is on a different level. There is a better chance than not that UND narrows that gap next fall. Schwiegert was smart to press the issue with Faison, to get it done whatever it took. [/quote

I don't think UND is below NDSU, but not playing UND is best for the success of our program. F the rest of the state. Bison fans and alumni overwhelmingly don't want it.

  20. Why play us in any sport if there is "nothing to gain". It's a DI OOC game, a win goes towards the playoff goal of 7 or 8 wins (whatever the criteria is). If you guys want to not play us have the balls to say it to the media that NDSU will not play UND in anything. Then go ahead with Weber State, Ferris St, Morgan St and Wagner, but at the same time troll on UND's fan site, smack talk about them in about a hundred threads on your fan site, and then bring up about "crushing us". Because everything works out on paper (or a monitor). Who needs to play the game.

Basketball is different. When I look at recruiting, there doesn't appear to be as many of the same kids both schools are fighting for. I think the talent pool is deeper.

I don't buy the good for the state at all. This isn't the old D2 days. You start splitting talent and both schools are mediocre 7 win teams.

Personally I think it is better for one ND to be an FCS powerhouse and gain ESPN exposure on a constant basis rather than two mediocre programs.
