  1. Redneksioux said that during the press conference it didn't seem like they wanted to play the games against UND that they were announcing. You made an excuse about them being surprised by getting the deal and unprepared for the press conference. My point was that they didn't even have to have the press conference, that it was unusual to have the press conference, so if they didn't like signing the deal they could have kept it to themselves by just not having the press conference. Pretty simple even for a brand new administrator, and those folks are not brand new administrators.

Wait hold the phones. You are saying the NDSU administrators didn't seem like they wanted to play UND? Maybe, just maybe, is because the fan base of NDSU DID NOT WANT THE GAME, and they knew they would catch hell for scheduling this?

No I gotta be wrong on this. Darell says the majority of NDSU fans wanted the game so that must be true. He has a much better understanding of NDSU fan base feeling on this than those who happen to be a teammaker.

You would have thought if the majority of NDSU fan base wanted that game, the interim AD at NDSU at the press conference would have been thrilled to announce the deal and wouldn't have sat there looking like Magic Johnson did announcing he had contacted the deadly illness of AIDS.

  2. ame="2011BisonAlumni" post="733292" timestamp="1414637698"]

In 2006 when UND played UNI RT was NOT with UND he was the NCC commissioner, so all your bitching about 03 and RT has no merit to what Brian Faison was trying to do. He had nothing, zero to do with what happened in 2003 but yet you want to associate him with that. GT was there in 03 and was continuing to move the terms during different administrations at UND. It wasn't until he left was it signed. Showed what a baby GT was.

It showed that Gene Taylor was pissed off and gave UND the Middle Finger that they so elegantly gave us.

Why didn't Faison try negotiating with NDSU in 2005 when he signed the UNI deal?

  3. UND got a paycheck for playing that single game, just like when UND or NDSU goes to play a FBS team. UND wasn't going to get that from NDSU during a home and home series. And that single game against a FCS school was a trial run at a game against the upper division, much like NDSU playing Montana. Not even remotely similar to signing an ongoing home and home series against a long term rival. But keep trying to compare apples and pumpkins.

UND would not have got a paycheck from playing NDSU? Jesus I know you guys don't get much when you schedule us, but we give you a little more than bus money. You honestly don't think up until that point GT would not have accepted that same offer?

The honest UND fans will admit that they wanted to burry us and thought it would hurt NDSU if UND did not play them. Just be honest dude and admit it.

  4. Obviously you care. You are the one that says all hell is going to break lose if UND even goes "toe to toe" with NDSU including recruiting. Other schools in the recruiting footprint aren't worried and scheduled UND with no fear.

Those schools aren't winning FCS national championships and getting pick of the litter right now.

  5. Do you mean in 2003? What don't you understand about

UND and NDSU were at the same level in Division II. They returned to the same level when UND finished the transition to Division I FCS. In between those years they weren't playing on a level field.

Why did UND negotiate, schedule and play an established UNI program in 2006 when they were not on a level playing field but who up to that point would not play a transitioning struggling FCS NDSU team who had proved nothing at the FCS level?

  6. Again, you expected UND to schedule the games when NDSU had a 27 scholarship advantage. And with the conceited attitude exhibited by you and other Bison fans it is obvious that NDSU would have cancelled the series at some point when it would be convenient for NDSU.[/quote

UND accepted and scheduled a game against UNI, a team with 27 more scholarships, before they picked up the phone and started talking to NDSU.

Convience for NDSU? Sorry to blur your vision with facts.

  7. UND's recruiting area is also shared by SDSU, and USD and they didn't cry like babies in scheduling UND.

Who fing cares. USD, SDSU and USD are all playing second fiddle to NDSU right now when it comes to recruiting. You have bragging rights over scraps through those games.

Also SDSU and USD rarely recruit or get North Dakota kids. That competition is basically NDSU/UND.

  8. Funny how NDSU kept changing the terms of the h/h with Faison and at the same time USD, SDSU and Montana had no problem scheduling a h/h with UND. Guess their AD was never a dick like GT was.

One more time and after I am done arguing this with you. You can't argue with someone who has no idea what they are arguing about.

2003 and 2004 GT BEGGED UND for a game. RT said no. 2005 no offered game. Starting in 2006 NDSU starts building this machine and beating FBS teams. UND comes knocking on the door, after thumbing their noses at NDSU and trying to burry us, and you think GT should just be all cherry and accept it?

Before GT ever changed the terms, or however you see it, there was a gigantic arrogant dick named Roger Thomas who ruined this rivalry. We would not even be here discussing this today had Roger Thomas kept the rivalry game alive.

  9. So the seniors in that game was recruited in 1989 or 1990, didn't NDSU win a NC in that year? So UND outrecruited you during your NC run in 1990?

No but from 1994 through 2002 they were pretty successful. Talent pool was split.

  10. Maybe because Weber was already DI? Also USD didn't help you but you were quick in scheduling a 2 for 1 with them. Funny how that goes.

Did NDSU even offer USD a continued home and home agreement? Didn't recall that ever happening. You know why? Because it didn't.

  11. I know I just like hearing you say that you're worried.

I am not scared of playing UND the football team. In 2015 they will be horseshit again, although better than 2014.

I am scared about the possible risks of playing UND the football program, who recruits against NDSU on 99% of the regional players and who could severely impact the future success of NDSU in the recruiting area with a win.

No problem at all Darell saying this. I speak the truth rather than hiding how I really feel. Ask any honest Bison fan and they will tell you too.

  12. Because it helps UND immeasurably

I think the most unobjective UND fan out there would admit that there would be few things that could help UND out quicker than beating NDSU and gaining a foothold on recruiting in this region.

This game has the chance to help UND immensely. I bet even Darell would be willing to say this.

  13. WSU is worse than UND but you have no problem scheduling them. UND has at least beaten ranked teams in the last 5 years. I think Weber has about 5 wins in the last 5 years.

Taylor was in good graces with the AD for Weber giving us a home and home when we were in transition which is part of why he did it. I remember listening him saying this to McFooly on KFGO after he announced the game.

  14. And UND isn't? You are worried about losing aren't you.

Holy crap Darell! You must be a genius! I have only stated on here a dozen times today that yes, I am worried about the effects of football at NDSU from losing this game and also my feelings that this represents the majority of the NDSU fan base as to why they don't want to play UND.

Very confident NDSU will win. I feel there is no reward to the risk.

  15. For the record I did not hijack this. I was responding to Sioux94 on page 7 or whatever it was on why I personally don't want to play UND and why I feel the majority of NDSU does not want to play UND. Not because you are not worthy of playing NDSU, not because we are past being a rival, it is PRIMARILY BECAUSE we have nothing to gain from playing you and everything to lose. The second most reason is due to poor feelings over 2003 and the third most popular reason, which is a very very small minority, is the elitist NDSU fans who feel you are not worthy.

Dump the Big Fluffy and petition the MV to accept you. Then Darell and the UND fan base can get the wish of seeing NDSU every year and seeing NDSU in Grand Forks. Football at UND is about playing and beating NDSU. Bubba Gump stated in his couch press conference that he felt that was one of the most important things for a UND player. It isn't about winning national championships.

  16. I have revised my earlier estimates. It will be a 17 point game or so, with NDSU closing it out in the second half.

In the history of all the impressive toe-to-toe, moral, hypothetical victories UND has compiled, it will undoubtably go down as the biggest.

Hell Bubba will probably use it as a recruiting tool. Come play at UND son, we can go toe to toe with anybody  ;) .

  17. So to sum it up, Bison fans are scared this deal happened because they aren't confident they will win or else they wouldn't come up with excuses why the game shouldn't be played. I read more praise for signing a h/h with EWU and WSU than a 2 for 0 with UND. You guys get 2 home games 4 years apart and you are still bitching? Did you guys expect UND to spot you a 40 point lead to start the game too? I think it must be that 4-1 UND lead in the Fargodome.

    Darell,

Which team has more to gain from this game being played? If UND loses so what. It isn't like their team can get worse. NDSU fans fear what could happen to their program in the case of a loss. I kind of equate it to sleeping with the hot slut at a party. Is fun and easy to do and probably nothing going to happen, but why take the chance at getting burned?

I believe Taylor stated that the Weber game was agreed to in part because they had difficulty filling the schedule and also due to the fact that Weber gave us games during the transition. The EWU game is due to NDSU wanting to schedule top tier non conference games. Started with the Montana and Montana State deals.

  18. If the Dome is available any time NDSU needs it, then the folks running the Dome probably aren't doing the job they should be of keeping the building busy. And bubbles have been known to collapse. The permanent building that is dedicated to UND sports is a better option than the combo of Dome/bubble. Especially when you consider that the track teams, baseball team and more are also going to be able to train in the building.

Track at NDSU already has an indoor facility being built.

  19. And on the other side of the field it shows a building under construction. The building is an indoor practice facility with a full football field. You might want to have your vision checked. I knew the poor Bison fans would be confused by the picture.

I would think that most athletes would appreciate a great practice facility they can use all winter over a television show being shot in the same city once or twice. It's not like the players were actually down watching the show live.

In all seriousness it is a fantastic practice facility. Hats off to UND for getting this built. It will be a boost for your program.
