I would take it further.  Close tailgating 2.5 hours before the game.  That way everyone will be there when the team walks thru 2 hours before the game.  And after the team walk you don't have to worry about your kids getting run over by folkes just parking.

Yes please.  Committee we know you're watching.

I'm thinking it depends were you are sitting at. I called the AD department about this last week, they say there checking, Homecoming when I sat in section 217 it was the absolute worst I've ever experienced at a game anywhere. I sat in section 205 today and speakers didn't come close to hurting my ears.

Interesting......I sat in 217 today with some buddies and it was ridiculous.  I normally sit in 203.  Coincidence that it's also the visitor team section? Regardless, the Weber fans were quite agitated with us today for various reason :)

Obviously it doesn't stop it but it makes it a little more challenging.  Why don't they play music when UND has the ball?

The music is obviously played to amp up the crowd when the opponent has the ball, but even when UND has the ball it's either the PA guy rambling of loud ads etc.... I simply find it hard to even talk "football" with the people next to me. #annoyed  #firstworldproblems   In other news......we are in first place in the Big Sky!  Wings Up!

People complaining about volume at Alerus, good thing you haven't been to an NFL game!

I've been to multiple NFL games in 5+ venues and I've never heard that level of ridiculous music, now crowd noise that's another thing.  Don't get me wrong, we need to bring the noise ourselves on 1st and 2nd down.

May as well let the opposing coaches yell the plays in than.

Do you really think cranking "Black Betty" stops a road team from getting the play call in? Pretty sure D1 teams prepare for noise with hand signals.

Until fans understand it is ok to make noise on 1st and 2nd down they will do this.

I disagree, you can't even talk to the person next to you between plays.  That's a joke.  I agree with geaux_sioux in that we need to replace the sound system.  In the mean time, turn it down!

  7. For the love of God can we please get someone to turn down the volume on the music and PA!  It's ridiculous when half the people are plugging their ears.  I personally know a few who have left or won't come because of it.  Cripes I'm in my thirties and love loud music but c'mon Alerus Center get real.

Well that is pretty disappointing then, to me part of a coaches job is to get the players motivated and fired up!  You don't have to use swear words and yell and all of that.  Sure the assistant coaches can help but I view that as a prime responsibility of the head coach.  Could it be that at Duluth Bubba was able to recruit great players and coach them well, but just couldn't get them fired up enough to get over the top since the next coach took his players and won a championship?  Hopefully not.   I do agree that the pride Bubba oozes about this University is contagious and he can certainly use speeches like that to fire the players up without swearing etc..  The speech he gave about the new logo.....I thought that was great!

I'm sorry but if you don't get tingles running down your spine during the pregame, anthem etc. then you have no business playing at this level.  If you're waiting around for a rah rah speech to get you going you might as well be in the stands next to me.  This isn't high school, if you can't "flip the switch" when you step between the lines you simply don't belong.

i have seen Ben Bolinskie's name dropped a lot as a potential PWO QB, but do you know if we are looking at Matt Bye from Moorhead? 6'4 200 runs a 4.6 40 and has a pretty decent arm. He is also a 3 sport stud and really good basketball player similar to Heidelbaugh last year. A lot of room for growth with him with that frame and I think he could convert nicely to TE if QB doesn't work with his height and speed ala Seth Nichols.

    http://www.hudl.com/athlete/2879742/matt-bye

Wouldn't mind seeing a few spuds in this 2016 class.

I believe Bolinskie ends up at UND as a walk-on.  I think he starts out at QB and ultimately ends up playing defense.  I agree that it's probably a good idea to bring in a scholarship QB every year, but why is it so hard for people to believe that a Class B ND kid can be our future QB (after Studsrud)?  Not only does Heidlebaugh have all the physical tools, he understands the game more than most, something Bartels and Mollberg still struggle with.

2016 - Studsrud, Heidlebaugh, Bartels, Mollberg (TE), walk-on

    2017 - Studsrud, Heidlebaugh, true freshman, walk-on

    2018 - Heidlebaugh, red-shirt freshman, .....

    2019 - Heidlebaugh, sophomore, ......

  10. I rarely post but I'm an everyday reader. Carson Wentz was our top target just a few years ago, had we landed him things would likely be very different right now. I hate NDSU with a passion, but I'm also realistic. They will give ISU everything they can handle. They are also likely to win multiple playoff games. You don't win 3 straight FCS titles and fall off the face off the earth (think extra month of practice each year, winning attitude, expectations, motivation etc...). We have a long ways to go. We need to have patience and trust in Bubba. We will rise to the top again...

  11. Mason Kramer, from Bishop Ryan. Kolten Larson from MHS, both guys seem like they would be walk on potential. I saw where the Kramer kid took 2nd in State at heavy weight in wrestling. It was his 1st year ever of wrestling. Might make a good NG in the 3-4?

Kramer is a beast. We need to land some ND talent. Players like Kramer, Cieslak, and Chrest.

  12. One problem I have with the complaints from everyone about 'the bomb on 3rd and 1' is that you have jameer Jackson against a much smaller db in press coverage with no safety over the top. You take that shot 100% of the time. Now the fourth down was a different story, the personel on the field was ridiculous. Put Marcus in and do a read option with another option being a pass to a te. Runner jer up the middle was a head scratcher.

I disagree. At any other stage of the game you take the deep shot with a mismatch, but not in this scenario. It's a moot point though...you simply kick the game winning FG on 4th and 1 with a very capable kicker in "rare air".
