Agreed...here's an example, and it'll butt-hurt some but it is what it is.

I've been a supporter of the football program for a long time.  I think Bubba is a good ambassador for UND, and for the most part he has recruited and developed high quality human beings that are ok to decent football players at this level (with some high caliber kids certainly sprinkled in).  I like the idea of Alston awards and facilities upgrades and donating to make sure the student athletes are well taken care of when it comes to wellness (gear/nutrition/training/etc).

That said...what an NIL collective represents is pseudo-professionalism.  If we as fans are going to be asked to join the collective in order to pay players...then THEY HAD BETTER WIN AT A HIGH LEVEL!  I'm not convinced that we have the roster to do that next year...and I have yet to hear any specific plans as to how we are going to address that other than the same old coach speak.  Couple that with the fact that the face of the collective sort of rubs me the wrong way (to be fair I don't know him)...and the fact that collectives are for-profit with very limited disclosure of where the money is going...and, I'll just be honest...I'm out.  Was college football better when players were only getting an education (at least above the table) and it was more difficult to leave when the going got tough?  ABSO-FREAKING-LUTELY it was in my opinion!  Now is my mindset wrong and anti-player?  Yes...but it's my money...I'm the consumer of the product...and I just have a harder time getting excited about a sport that requires your program to win an arms race that it likely can't (and institutionally I'm not sure wants to) win.  If too many supporters and fans/boosters start thinking that way...we'll be left with 80-100 programs that are willing to play pseudo-professional football...and d3.  I don't think the athletes win in the long run when that plays out.

    I couldn't agree more.

Can we not just beat a good team without having to rely on trick plays?

Every single big game there are the comments that we are going to need to use trick plays to beat the opposition. It gets pretty annoying knowing that our only chance to beat a good team is to hope our trick plays work.

And there's nothing wrong with trick plays. Just wish we could once believe that we can beat a good team straight up because we are better than them and not have to rely on trick plays to win. I'd be willing to bet NDSU and SDSU never go into games thinking that they are going to have to use trick plays to win.

Amen! If we in the coin flip take the ball and punch them in the mouth.  Crowd will be rocking early, we must take advantage.  I not as confident as I was a few weeks ago, but we are tough at home.  Let's go Hawks.... 24-20 good guys.

Their sports coverage is the only reason I subscribe to the paper and I appreciate Tom as well.  If they just randomly stop covering stuff, it makes it harder to justify the subscription.

It's pretty crazy that the Forum doesn't have an FCS guy that covers UND and NDSU and the FCS in general, neutrally.  The Fargo guys are homers and heavily biased towards NDSU and against UND, and Tom isn't a full time beat reporter.  They do a great job with The Rink Live, where they cover many programs neutrally.  Just interesting that the coverage for Football isn't remotely similar.

While I'm complaining, this annoys me (not an option for UND Athletics as a whole):

Again, I love Tom's coverage too, I just wish there was more.  I'd guess they have him doing all kinds of things, and we know he grossly under paid.  The above options on the website are a slap in the face to all other UND sports.  Annoys me too...

Agreed, hate to see them stop, but it makes sense. At this point in the year, I just enjoy the constant updates and information. Too much anticipation for the season.

I love Tom's coverage but let's not pretend practice is 3-4 hours.

"he's an upper classman....brings it all every play....burst of speed....game changer"......

    instead....he's a good receiver overall......

    not good

Tommy is nonchalant.  Wes is a 2 time All MVFC-Honorable Mention WR.

There’s always a player or two that surprises in fall camp, who does everyone think that will be? I’m going to go with Nick Kupfer, although maybe some could argue that occurred last year. I think he could really transform more into a Noah Wanzek this year. Otherwise, I think we will see Sawyer Seidl make some flashy plays.

I'm going to go with McNeal and Teiken on defense and Ziebarth and Gunderson on offense.  I really like Kupfer too.

  7. KK and Ball are too slow at reading/reacting and game speed.  KK is a good special teams player. I forgot about Davis.  We seem pretty loaded at corner, maybe someone else can play safety too?
