  1. 3. The Gophers do not auitomatically get to play. They might adjust the first round matchup to allow the Gophers to play the evening game fro attendence (this is junk)

True, the Gophers do not get an automatic bid, however WCHA officials do their best to ensure they make it to the final five.

  2. Considering preseason coaches polls, predicted finish of 1st in the league, and the potential of having several all americans, I'd say we are playing well below expectations, especially on defense. I expect a another split but hope for a sweep.

  3. Unless JPL can stand on his head without taking a "Robbie Earl" dive, I'm sticking with a SCSU sweep...ugh, gasp, choke....

They're playing better than we are right now defensively and have more scoring depth. (Beat CC 4-2 and took Miami to OT 1-2)

The only good that can come out of this prediction is that I'm usually wrong....

  4. this is worse, my 18 year old buddy who used my ID here in az to go to a club was pissing in a bush when leaving a friken cop screeched up on a huffy 10 speed and my buddy gave him my ID not even friken thinking or i guess he was so he wouldnt get a minor but then i get a court summons and go in front of a judge to get the damn thing expunged form my record  guess i could have fought it but that woudl have been too much work and money :D make my buddy pay the fine and move on, bastard

Don't these cops realize that if you hold it, you could damage the prostate gland, making it very difficult to get an erection, or even become aroused!

  5. After our 3rd period performance against UNH, I would absolutely shocked if we were to sweep SCSU. I just hope we can get a split. Despite the up-coming weaker schedule, I predict a struggle the rest of the way for this team to gain home ice for the WCHA playoffs.

  6. You have to admit that being 1-2-1 against the AHA for a big four team like the Gophers is not very impressive.

I wouldn't count on being in the NCAA playoffs this season.

True, the gophers really suck right now but to me, our 9-7-1 isn't very impressive either. If we play defense like we did Sat night against SCSU this weekend, we'll be a .500 team.

  7. 0-24-0 in the last 24 when trailing after 2.

I can't tell you the last time I saw a Dave Hakstol team come back from two goals down. Has one?

Remember "down three" in a Final Five final? And how many other "down two" comebacks? We didn't win that "down three" game but UND forced OT. With "nothing to play for" according to some. :D

These are definitely not Dean Blais teams. Blaiser's teams took "two goals down" as a challenge and "three down" as a reason to beat you just to spite you.

    These guys just roll over.

It makes me want to question their heart and their pride, all the way to the top.

Blais teams played with more speed, shot the puck often, and crashed the net. Many times they got caught deep but they always could come back. There's no way a Hakstol coached team is capable of that. 2 different styles, 2 different types of players being recruited. I personally liked the Blais system better for entertainment value and it won us more hardware.

  8. I thought the defense for Lucia in College Hockey News coming from former players was weak given the fact that the only players coming out are players that will never make it in the NHL. Harrington and the Potulnys? Please... I doubt we'll hear from NHL mainstay Gophers who would damage potential future contract opportunity with Snow.

I doubt we'll hear anything on the topic from Johnson, Kessel or Vanek unless they reiterate Snow's assessment......

  9. Interesting to note that of the 16 teams in the field, UND has 8 on the schedule. If you exclude ourselves that's 8 of 15. We have yet to play Bemidji State and New Hampshire, but we have a better than .500 record against the field. 1-1-0 vs Denver, 1-1-0 vs CC, 1-1-0 vs MN, 1-0-0 vs MSU, 0-0-1 vs BC, 1-0-0 vs Northeastern, 2 games vs NH, 2 games vs BSU.

We aren't rolling over teams, but I think that some of the naysayers have lost some perspective. There is not a team that we can not beat in the one and done NCAA tournament.

On the flip side, I don't think there's a team in the current field that can't beat us either.....Let's hope we begin our turn-around on the 28th. We still have an outside shot at a #1 seed and it starts with a sweep of UNH.

  10. I don't follow you.

How is Kozek's standings among UND goal scorers a problem? Last year, he wasn't scoring enough. This year, he's doing well and suddenly it's a problem?

He's 2nd on the team in goals yet he has only 2 goals in the last 10 games. The problem is Kozek's consistency. My point is that we are not scoring consistently which is a problem. Do you not agree?

  11. that may be the case, but he still has the second most goals on the team this season, so take that for what it is. i think it supports this threads topic of changing things up to create a little more offense for the team as a whole.

there lies the problem.....but I do agree that some line changing is in order. I do not agree however that Miller has upside potential unless he makes a visit to Roger Clemen's personal trainer.....Get Forney in there.

  12. unless im missing something, i believe kaip-watkins-whoever has been our second line. i agree with you kozek has been big this year, but it is all about the combinations, and if our three lines roll equally, it shouldn't matter. and i agree with you about the fourth line, they need to show something to earn the ice time, but putting genoway there is ridiculous, he needs to be on the ice, which is why i think we are best served with him on the blue line.

2 goals and zero assists in the last 10 games = "Big"?

  13. I agree. It's time to mix up some of the lines. Maybe they should give those guys like Davidson and Forney a chance as it seems to me that I heard Hak say that Forney had earned a spot earlier in the year. I also heard from numerous people thet went to Denver that Davidson did just fine. Maybe it's time to try these guys and see what they can bring to the table. It really looked like we were lacking some intensity this past weekend.Maybe putting in some different players would allow some players to sit back and evaluate where they want to be.

I've said it many times only to get ripped for it. Miller sucks and he's weak!. Get Forney in there. There's no way he can be worse than Miller.
