  1. Mattster, What the hell is a tourche? is that like a flaming douche? Safe travels to UND fans headed to GV, and we hope for a great game between GV/UND with no injuries in the not-so-sunny south.
  2. Honestly, I don't know all of the criteria. For all I know, they could actually use reverse alphabetical order by the player who is listed as #77 on the roster. The NCAA has their own rules and don't even follow them all the time. One would assume that a 3 would travel to play a 2, as a 2 would travel to play a 1. SOS was calc'd so much differently this year that I'm not sure they'd be a lot different. UND has 1 loss, while UNA 0 (thusfar, of course).
  3. If you look back at 2003, both UND and UNA were 1 seeds. UNA was ranked higher nationally. UND's SOS was slightly higher (using the criteria that was in place at that point in time. UNA played a D1AA team that was in D1AA playoffs on the road, and won..criteria penalized teams for playing non-d2 teams, no matter the division). Based on the SOS, the decision was correct in making UNA travel (although you'd never know it listening to uninformed fans). This year, all things being equal, UNA (2) SHOULD host UND (3) if both make it that far, while Delta (5) would have to travel to the Alerus. If GVSU wins, GVSU hosts. There will be no more games in Cleveland, MS this year. That will give the goats time to eat the rest of the turf and put some more divots in the field. UNA is the "host" institution every year for the NC game. Braly Stadium is owned by the City of Florence, not UNA. Contract runs through 2009, I believe.
  4. Take a slight detour south and bring her by here...

I saw it with my own eyes..in a hotel in Los Angeles..watching the webcast. There he was, bolts and all. Couldn't really get a feel for the crowd noise during the webcast, but if it was anything like last December, it was probably plenty loud. See ya'all next year.
  6. Proper consumption at the Alerus...from a visitors point of view, and in this order. Down an order or 2 of the cheese curds. Throw in $5-20 worth of beer. Couple sacks full of the bavarian almonds. Hit Peppers on the way out of town, and see if you can make it to Fargo without stopping Have a safe weekend.
  7. http://www.ncaasports.com/images/ncaasport...racket_2004.pdf That's the entire bracket from the NCAA web site. Good luck to all that made it!!
  8. What?? I can't root a bit for both? Either school would be welcome again this year..too bad it can't work out for a re-match.
  9. Come on guys..win out..I want to see you back in AL.
  10. Here's that ABSOLUTE worst scenario for this year.... Albany St. wins the SE...shouldn't happen, but you never know Plays NE whomever.....NE wins the regional semi. National Championship game is 91-0. I don't care who the NW/SW rep is, this is what would happen in this situation. I'm not sure how I feel about the 6 team/region system, even though UNA might have to take advantage of that to even make the playoffs this year. One thing I'm dead set against is the earned access rule, with the conference winner getting an automatic if ranked in the top 10 in the region...that may or may not make them in the top 40 in the country. I'd be all for taking the top 16, seeding and playing, and let's see who truly is the best team. Bottom line, the best team at the time should win the championship.....
  11. Amen on Delta State needing to win out...we're in the same boat with you on that one. All I can say is I'm glad it's 6 teams, and not 4 this year.
  12. I think the shutout streak is much more impressive than Pitt State scoring all those points. To echo what another poster said..a fumble here, an interception there, a punt return, etc. Defense wins championships. You might be on your way to visit me in December. Still a lot of football to play. Good luck in the coming weeks. I can't wait to see the regional playoffs for NW/SW. There should be some excellent games.
  13. The shutout time is absolutely incredible.
  14. UND should be fine, assuming they don't lose again. It might be tougher to get in with more than one loss in the your conference. The realignment of the regions was a bit goofy, in my opinion, adding the GLIAC over to your side of the world. I would guess the NCC will get 2 in the playoffs, GLIAC 2 or 3, and who knows from there. I look for UND and GVSU to fight it out for the right to play either Pitt or TAMUK in the semi's. As far as playing D1AA schools, it was much more detrimental last year than this year, (we know that first hand). You are penalized heavily for playing "down". Jim has a great link to track the regions here: http://siouxsports.com/football/rankings/ssi.php?regionid=1
  15. C/N lost their game due to an excessive celebration penalty called after they scored a touchdown to bring the score to 28-27. They then proceeded to miss the extra point from the 25 yard line. Can you say STUPID???, or maybe the officials were a little over zealous with the flag?? This game was played at Presby, so maybe it was just a little divine intervention. Wingate over Catawba??? Huh--what happened here. Cooter actually predicted this one on the d2 board......might he have borrowed the Sioux's crystal ball? 5 way tie in the SAC now..should get whittled down to 2 before it's all over. Tech beats Delta....no way this should have happened. Delta must have been down after losing to Valdosta, but they should have been ready to fight for their playoff lives. The Delta loss helps UNA as far as the playoffs are concerned. I don't think Delta can get in with 3 overall losses, and they haven't played Central Arkansas yet. Tech still has a couple of tough games left, and given their schedule, they'd better not lose if they want in the playoffs. Valdosta was on cruise control yesterday, their QB went 21 for 21 completions to start the game. Valdosta wins 27-18. UNA/Southern Ark was tied 10-10 at halftime, but UNA dominates 2nd half to pull away 45-24. SAU scores with less than a minute left on the subs, completing a pass on 4th and an acre for 60 yards. UNA-Valdosta in 2 weeks...winner should get a spot in the playoffs.
